Chapter 804: Kill Her to Cure the Heart Demon
Upon hearing Cinian’s words, Nanli immediately understood that he could neither see clearly nor remember what he had learned. So, she slowed down and carefully demonstrated the technique once more.
This time, Cinian paid full attention and, fortunately, Nanli, understanding his age, allowed him to take his time. In the end, he managed to commit the spell to memory.
"I’m ready," Cinian said confidently.
"Good," Nanli nodded. "Let’s begin."
The timing was perfect.
Before starting, Nanli once again spoke to those Shans and Ye Yanqin. "When the formation trembles, someone is likely to notice and try to intercept us. Just make sure to leave without looking back. Cinian and I will cover the rear. No matter what happens, don’t come to help."
The Shans’ family, along with others who had no fighting capabilities, would only slow them down if left behind. They understood the instruction and nodded.
Ye Yanqin moved her lips as if wanting to help, but upon seeing Nanli’s calm and confident demeanor, she swallowed her words and simply said, "Second Master, please be careful."
"You too," Nanli reminded her, then gestured for Cinian to begin with the Sky Plough Pearl.
Cinian gathered his focus and energy, unwilling to be distracted. The last rays of the setting sun bathed his body, casting a long shadow. A faint crescent moon hung in the sky as he finished the spell.
The Sky Plough Pearl floated into the air, but nothing happened.
Cinian panicked. Had he done something wrong?
Nanli, who was observing, coldly reminded him, "After the spell, you have to say ’Break.’"
"Ah? So you weren’t just saying that randomly." Cinian finally realized his mistake and prepared to repeat the incantation.
"No need to redo the spell; just say it," Nanli sighed, clearly annoyed.
Cinian awkwardly shouted, "Break!"
At that moment, the Sky Plough Pearl’s hollow parts began to emit thousands of golden rays, lighting up the dark sky.
The formation that had been set up earlier by Jifeng Celestial Sovereign appeared vastly different from the one they had seen before. This one was meant to break the barrier, not protect it.
Nanli’s eyes glinted with focus as she took out a talisman she had carefully crafted, and then she summoned the Sky-Tearing Sword.
The sword hummed to life with a chilling gleam, sensing Nanli’s determination. It radiated cold light, which illuminated Nanli’s face. With a powerful leap, she swung the sword, and the talisman was absorbed into it.
The sword’s body glowed with runes as she gathered all her energy into the sword, striking it with incredible force. The blow, combined with the Sky Plough Pearl’s power, crashed down onto the formation’s barrier.
In the darkness, the formation flickered as layers of magical runes started to dissolve and disintegrate.
The entire realm trembled with the intensity of the event. It felt as though the Upper Realm itself might collapse.
The sky lit up with strange, intertwined lights as celestial phenomena erupted, leaving everyone in awe.
Nanli landed, breathing heavily, beads of sweat forming on her forehead. The attack she had just made was no ordinary blow. She had poured all of her energy into it to wield the Sky-Tearing Sword.
But despite all of that, it still wasn’t enough.
The formation’s runes only began to fade slightly before stopping completely.
Cinian realized the situation immediately and cursed under his breath. It seemed like they had failed.
However, the noise they had caused would surely attract attention. He quickly turned to Nanli, "Master, we need to retreat!"
Nanli adjusted her breathing and didn’t respond immediately. Instead, she reached into her Qiankun Bag and absorbed the spirit energy from the spirit stones inside.
Her face remained pale, and her stomach ached slightly. But she continued to recover her strength and then moved forward, striking again.
With a chilling sword strike, everyone held their breath.
Just when they thought Nanli was simply struggling in vain, the formation began to crack once more. This time, a gap was torn open.
"It’s broken!" Ye Yanqin exclaimed.
"Let’s go!" those Shans urged, pulling Ye Yanqin along to leave without hesitation.
Before leaving, Ye Yanqin looked back, seeing Nanli exhausted and seated on the ground, absorbing the energy from the spirit stones. Behind them, several figures appeared, sword lights flashing as cultivators from Sima House, Penglai Island, and Seven Peaks Sect rushed toward them.
Cinian let out a relieved breath as he saw the barrier breaking apart. "Master Nanli, you did it! You’re amazing!"
Nanli cursed under her breath, "Damn Siheng. Why did he make the Upper Realm formation so strong? I wasted so much energy because of him."
Cinian swallowed nervously. "Qingwu reinforced it. It’s not really Siheng’s fault."
"Without the foundation, Qingwu couldn’t have reinforced it either," Nanli retorted, cursing Siheng a few more times.
The Sky-Tearing Sword, clearly displeased by her words, vibrated slightly, as though protesting.
Nanli raised the sword and knocked it against the ground. "I’ll keep cursing. What’s it to you? If you don’t like it, I’ll leave you here."
The Sky-Tearing Sword, unable to return to its previous state, had no choice but to quietly follow Nanli, waiting for its master to finish her business before retrieving it.
Cinian looked up and quickly recognized the figures approaching—Sima Xin and the cultivators from Penglai Island, Seven Peaks Sect, and Sima House. The pressure from their arrival was overwhelming.
He asked seriously, "Master Nanli, are we going to fight?"
Nanli, while still absorbing energy, glanced up. A light smile curled her lips. "No need. I enjoy watching dogs fight."
"What do you mean?" Cinian asked, confused.
Nanli, fully charged with spirit energy, stood up and fixed her gaze on Sima Xin. "Lady Sima, we meet again."
"Nanli!"
Sima Xin hovered in the air, her heart filled with disbelief as she saw the formation collapsing. The Upper Realm’s barrier, which had guarded the realm for a thousand years, was being broken by Nanli.
How could this be?
Was Nanli already at the Deity Forming stage or the Great Achievement stage? That would explain her strength.
But no—she had only just obtained the Glassy Bottle. There’s no way she could possess such power.
Yet, Sima Xin couldn’t take any chances.
"Be careful of her!" she shouted, leading the charge, with her Red Lotus artifact lunging toward Nanli.
Though it seemed like a gentle artifact, in Sima Xin’s hands, it became a lethal weapon, dripping with malice.
Nanli, however, did not intend to engage. She simply mounted her sword and flew off toward the Human World.
"Don’t think you can escape!" Sima Xin screamed, her face twisted with fury. "I’m going to kill you!"
Only by killing Nanli could she hope to rid herself of her heart demon.
