Chapter 784: Fate Brings Us Together, I Entrust Her to You

Nanli couldn’t help but laugh, feeling both amused and touched by the sincerity of the woman’s response. She didn’t waste any time and quickly drew a Talisman on the woman’s hand.

The woman stared in surprise as she felt the Talisman sink into her palm. She had noticed the anti-magic array at the city gate and had been hoping to pass through undetected, but as a Talisman Cultivator herself, she could tell just how powerful and precise Nanli’s Talisman was. She hadn’t expected to receive help from someone so skilled.

Tears welled up in her eyes. "Thank you," she said, her voice trembling with gratitude.

Nanli smiled slightly. "Let’s talk once we’re inside," she said, gently urging her forward.

The woman nodded, and sure enough, with the help of Nanli’s Talisman, they passed through the city gate without any issues. The ward failed to detect their Face-Changing Talismans, and the guards simply checked their identity tags before letting them through.

Once inside Jiuzhou Town, the woman let out a long sigh of relief.

"Thank you for your help! It’s noon now—please, let me treat you to a meal," she offered, a little awkwardly.

"Sure," Nanli replied without hesitation.

According to the information she had gathered, there was a famous medicinal restaurant in Jiuzhou Town known for its delicious food and dishes that could replenish spiritual energy. It was called Piaoxiang Lou, and it was also one of Shi Family’s properties. Nanli suggested they go there.

The woman hesitated. "Well... this restaurant is quite expensive. They only accept spirit stones, and I... don’t have many left."

She glanced longingly at a nearby wonton stall, clearly wishing she could afford something simpler.

Nanli smiled and lowered her voice, "You’re from Frosty Valley, aren’t you?"

The woman immediately stiffened and took a step back in wariness.

Nanli waved her hand, sensing the woman’s anxiety. "Don’t worry. The Grand Elder of Frosty Valley once helped me, and she told me to assist any of her disciples I might encounter. That’s why I helped you."

The woman’s suspicion faded, but a slight tension remained. Frosty Valley disciples were being hunted by Jialan Celestial Mountain, so they couldn’t afford to use their true identities. It seemed that this woman had encountered some trouble, which was why she was trying to enter the city.

"Master!?" The woman suddenly moved forward, grabbing Nanli’s hand. "Did you see my master?!"

"Oh? Ye Wukui is your master?" Nanli asked, intrigued.

"Yes! Yes, that’s my master!" The woman’s face lit up with excitement. "What about my master? Where is she now?"

These past few days, the woman had been living in fear. The thought of seeing her master now felt like her small boat finally reaching the safety of the shore.

Nanli’s voice softened. "Your master is gone."

The woman froze, her eyes wide in disbelief. "What? No... that can’t be... my master is so powerful, how could she...?"

"This isn’t the place for such talks. Let’s go to Piaoxiang Lou and discuss it there," Nanli said, taking the woman’s hand and guiding her forward.

The woman’s hand was ice-cold, and she felt like her entire body had gone numb. The shock left her unable to think clearly, and for a moment, she felt as though she couldn’t even walk.

Having visited Jiuzhou Town over a thousand years ago, Nanli quickly navigated through the bustling streets, now changed by the passage of time, and soon found Piaoxiang Lou. As they entered, the waiter greeted them.

"Good day, sir. Two guests?"

Nanli casually handed over a mid-grade spirit stone. "We’ll take a private room."

The waiter’s eyes lit up at the sight of the generous tip. "Of course, please follow me."

Once inside the private room, Nanli instructed the waiter to bring their best dishes before dismissing him. The door was closed, and Nanli immediately activated several Talismans to seal the room, ensuring privacy.

The woman, now calmer, looked at Nanli with moist eyes. "Did my master... leave any words for me?"

Nanli opened her Spiritual Bag and released Ye Wukui’s soul. "You can speak with her now."

As a Talisman Cultivator, Nanli could see spirits with the help of a Talisman, even without the Yin-Yang Eye. The woman had doubted her at first, but upon seeing Ye Wukui’s spirit, she immediately collapsed to her knees, sobbing uncontrollably.

"Master! Why did you leave me? You raised me, taught me cultivation, and I still haven’t repaid you!" The woman wailed.

Ye Wukui had not expected to see her disciple again. She sighed softly, then smiled warmly. "I’m glad you’re still alive. That’s all that matters."

The woman continued to cry, shaking her head in disbelief.

Ye Wukui gently comforted her. After a while, she spoke again, "You’re grown now, but here you are, crying like this. Aren’t you afraid of being laughed at?"

Out of the corner of her eye, the woman noticed Nanli’s presence and quickly wiped her tears, standing up and trying to regain some composure. She then asked, "What happened? How did Frosty Valley end up in ruins?"

For the past few days, she had been hunted by Jialan disciples, and only recently had they shifted their focus elsewhere, allowing her to catch her breath. But she hadn’t shared why she was entering the city with Nanli, still keeping her guard up.

Ye Wukui’s face darkened. "It all began with a mistake by the Valley Lord. This is just karma, a consequence that we all must face."

She didn’t elaborate further, not wanting her disciple to be filled with hatred or make rash decisions.

Then, looking at Nanli, she added, "It’s fate that we meet here. I have one last request. My disciple has great potential, but my Talisman skills are lacking, and I’ve been unable to guide her properly. If you could take her in and occasionally offer some guidance, I would die without regrets."

Nanli glanced at Ye Yanqin and then nodded. "Since you’ve asked, I will accept."

"Thank you," Ye Wukui said with a faint smile. "Then, I entrust her to you."

As soon as the words left Ye Wukui’s mouth, Ye Yanqin instinctively reached out to grab her master’s sleeve, but of course, her hands passed through the ghostly figure of Ye Wukui.

Flustered and embarrassed, she muttered, "Master, you can’t be serious! We have rules in Frosty Valley... How can you entrust me to a man like this?" She glanced at Nanli with suspicion, her cheeks flushing. "Especially not someone like him, with such an... unappealing face."

Ye Wukui’s expression darkened. "Don’t be rude. You’re so lacking in skill that you can’t even tell this is a woman?"

Ye Yanqin froze, her eyes wide as she looked at Nanli again. "Wait... you... you’re a woman?"

Nanli nodded. "Even Qingwu couldn’t see through my Face-Changing Talisman. The Elder was too harsh on her."

Ye Wukui considered this for a moment, then expressed her thanks to Nanli again. "This child was found by me in the wilderness. She had been frozen there for several days, which damaged her body and affected her cultivation."
