Chapter 774: You Couldn’t Save Your Own Brother, and Yet You Dare Question Me

Although weak, Nanli could still feel the response from her little ones.

She smiled faintly and softly whispered, "Good, you’re all mommy’s little babies."

"You can try it!" Yun Jianchu sneered, "If my son were still alive, I would strangle him myself. After all, he shared the same bloodline as that man."

"Still talking tough, huh?" Nanli teased her.

It was getting late, so she turned to leave. She found that Cinian had nearly finished the soul redemption process, and the two of them immediately left Poisonous Valley.

Soon, Sima Xin arrived.

She had already obtained the antidote to enter the valley, so she moved through without any hindrance. When she saw the little medicine boys of the valley lying unconscious on the ground, their fates unknown, she was momentarily stunned. She immediately summoned her magical artifact.

Each step she took was cautious and deliberate.

When she saw Elder Duxin’s corpse, her mind went blank.

"Buxiu!"

She shouted in horror and hurried into the bamboo house.

A scream of despair echoed from within, nearly reaching the heavens, resounding throughout the valley.

"Buxiu!!!"

Sima Xin collapsed onto the ground, her tears streaming down her face, her heart twisted with pain. She struggled to crawl forward, her body trembling uncontrollably.

Her husband, who had been her companion for a thousand years, had suddenly died. It was already heartbreaking enough, but to think that he had met such a fate—being dismembered in such a disgraceful manner—was almost more than she could bear.

The elders and disciples of Penglai Island, who had been waiting outside the valley, had seen that Sima Xin hadn’t emerged for a long time, so they forcibly broke through and entered to check on what had happened.

Black blood, thick and sticky, covered the ground.

And Yan Buxiu had aged drastically, unrecognizable compared to his former self.

It took them a while, but they finally identified him as their island master. They couldn’t help but feel a deep sadness.

After all, Yan Buxiu had been a figure of great authority when alive. Who could have imagined that his death would come with such humiliation and disgrace?

"Madam," the eldest elder, Jiang Chongliang, spoke softly. "Who did this?"

It was clear that Yan Buxiu had been dismembered posthumously.

"Nanli..." Sima Xin finally recovered enough to speak, her voice icy with fury. "It must have been her! Nanli!"

Her eyes reddened with rage. "She couldn’t win against Penglai Island, so she resorted to such vile actions. How despicable!"

The elders were equally furious.

However, the dead were already gone, and their priority now was to stitch the body together and give Yan Buxiu a respectful burial.

It took some time, but they finally managed to stitch his limbs and neck back together and placed him in a high-quality Kunlun wooden coffin.

Sima Xin had initially not been able to bear looking at him, but once they had finished, she dared to take a glance at her husband.

But even though they had stitched him back together, there were still noticeable marks.

She cried out once more, "Buxiu, rest assured, I will kill Nanli and avenge you."

Jiang Chongliang then spoke up, "Madam, didn’t you say that the Third Young Master is still in Nanli’s hands? We must act quickly to order the disciples to track her movements so we can rescue the Third Young Master."

Sima Xin’s heart was in turmoil, but she nodded in agreement. "Yes, you’re right."

However, another elder couldn’t help but mutter, "Nanli is so vicious. I fear it may be too late..."

Sima Xin shot him a glare. "What did you say!? A’Rui is definitely fine!"

The elder, not intimidated by her fury, didn’t back down. He had been with Yan Buxiu long before Sima Xin married into Penglai Island.

"Madam, I’m merely speculating so that we are prepared. We must all help the new island master, who is young, to continue supporting Penglai Island through our experience."

He was speaking with an air of arrogance, as if trying to assert himself and remind Sima Xin of his importance.

Sima Xin, however, didn’t indulge him and wasn’t about to swallow her anger.

In a flash, she summoned her magical artifact, and the red silk ropes immediately bound the elder’s limbs.

The power was so overwhelming that the elder couldn’t resist.

With a swift motion, she slammed her palm down toward his head.

"Madam, please spare him!" Jiang Chongliang quickly shouted. "We’ve served the island master faithfully for years. We never had any ill intentions. Please, show mercy!"

Sima Xin narrowed her eyes and then withdrew her hand, the murderous intent receding.

The red silk retracted.

"You are the pillars of Penglai Island, and I have always treated you with respect. Buxiu may be gone, but I’m still here," she warned, her voice cold. "Anyone who dares to harm my son or me will not be spared!"

"Yes, Madam." The elder bowed quickly, terrified.

He hadn’t expected that Sima Xin would return with such a significant increase in power.

Before she went to the North Sea, she had been in the middle stage of Nascent Soul, but now she was in the late stage. With such immense spiritual power, it wouldn’t take long for her to break through to the Deity Forming stage once she found the right opportunity!

He took a deep breath, understanding the situation.

With Yan Buxiu dead, Penglai Island still had Sima Xin!

"Thank you, Madam." Jiang Chongliang cupped his hands. "Once we bury the island master, I will immediately take a group of disciples to track down Nanli."

Sima Xin’s expression softened, and she nodded. "Thank you, Elder Jiang."

But when they returned to Penglai Island, the remaining elders and disciples were all pale, their faces filled with dread.

It was nightfall, and the island’s sea breeze was intense.

The moon hung high in the sky, but there was an eerie atmosphere surrounding it.

Sima Xin had a bad premonition and asked, "Has something happened on the island?"

The elders and disciples exchanged glances, then stepped aside to reveal the scene before them.

At the end of the path was Yan Hu, trembling, staring at a simple wooden box. His hand clutched the edge of the box, which had already cracked.

"A’Hu?" Sima Xin hurried forward. "What’s that?"

As she took a few more steps, she saw the dismembered body parts inside the box. The eyes of the severed head seemed to be staring at her, as if asking why she hadn’t handed over the Glassy Bottle to save him!

Why?!

"A’Rui..." Sima Xin couldn’t believe her eyes. Her heart was torn once more. "A’Rui!"

She ran forward, her hands trembling, unable to touch him.

Yan Hu turned toward her, tears streaming down his face. "Mother, is A’Rui dead? Are you happy now? Why couldn’t you just give it to her? If you had returned what she wanted, A’Rui wouldn’t have died!"

Sima Xin was dizzy with disbelief, but hearing those words, she was filled with rage.

With a furious slap, she struck his face hard and roared, "You couldn’t even save your own brother, and you dare question me?!"
