Chapter 659: Kneel and Acknowledge Your Master, I Will Spare Your Lives!

"What?!" The old man’s face turned ashen, "What do you mean by fake dragon? How could the Xuanyuan House be a fake dragon!"

The stall owner sized him up from top to bottom, raising an eyebrow, "So it’s not that your news is outdated, but rather your brain doesn’t work right."

He continued making his scallion pancakes without a care.

The old man was furious, his hand shot out and grabbed the stall owner by the throat.

The surrounding townspeople screamed and quickly retreated.

The stall owner hurriedly apologized, "Sorry... sorry, elder, really sorry!"

The old man’s anger still hadn’t dissipated, and he coldly asked, "What do you mean fake dragon? Explain yourself!"

The stall owner, trembling all over, could only stammer out the events of the last six months.

It turns out that Xuanyuan Cang, that young man, had long since died in Mu Nation. After that, a collateral branch, Xuanyuan Fu, took over as ruler. Then, the Ninth Princess of Mu Nation appeared, and the true dragon showed itself, while the fake dragon naturally had only one fate—death!

Not only that, but the Prime Minister had ordered an investigation into the Xuanyuan House, and nearly all of them were either dead or exiled, with very few surviving.

The old man grew more and more enraged as he listened.

He directly twisted the stall owner’s neck, snapping it with a sickening crack.

The townspeople screamed again.

A bolder man called out, "You dare kill someone in the street?! Is there no law here?!"

"I am the law of Border Nation!" The old man turned, his robes flaring out as he glared viciously, "We, the Xuanyuan House, are the true dragon of Border Nation!"

He was the patriarch of the Xuanyuan House!

Xuanyuan Leiting!

The townspeople were stunned.

When had the Xuanyuan House ever had such a powerful elder?

Xuanyuan Leiting exuded a murderous aura as he roared, "See the true dragon, and kneel down!"

No one dared defy him.

Under his growling voice, the townspeople’s legs turned to jelly and they all fell to their knees with a resounding thud.

"You still serve another as ruler? You all deserve to die!" Xuanyuan Leiting threw out several talismans.

The talismans glowed with a fierce red light and began to absorb the souls of the people around him.

The first wave of townspeople had already collapsed.

The others, seeing what was happening, tried to flee, but before they could take more than a few steps, another wave of talismans swept through, and their souls were also snatched away.

Soon, the street was left with no living souls.

Xuanyuan Leiting did not retract the talismans but instead made a hand seal, directing the talismans to carve a path for him.

Wherever the talismans passed, souls were devoured.

Xuanyuan Leiting’s gaze grew colder still.

By the time he reached the palace gates, his actions had already alerted the palace’s wizards.

He Qinian saw the sinister talismans glowing with red light, and he could almost hear the screams of the souls trapped within.

They immediately teamed up to form a protective formation to control the dark talismans.

The guards surrounded Xuanyuan Leiting from all sides, weapons gleaming ominously in the sunlight.

"You’re nothing but dogs of the Xuanyuan House, so bold as to block my path," Xuanyuan Leiting said, his voice dripping with disdain.

He knew that cultivating a wizard was not easy, so he had no intention of killing them directly.

He stood with his hands clasped behind his back, exuding a mighty presence.

"Kneel down and acknowledge me as your master, and I will spare your lives."

He Qinian’s heart froze in fear when he heard those words: "You’re from the Xuanyuan House?"

Xuanyuan Leiting flicked his sleeve, unleashing a powerful wave of spiritual energy that struck He Qinian directly.

He Qinian was thrown to the ground, his body tumbling painfully. He coughed up a mouthful of blood.

"Grand Wizard!" The other wizards were shocked.

He Qinian was the most powerful wizard among them, yet before this old man, he was utterly powerless, like an ant.

Xuanyuan Leiting narrowed his eyes and sneered, "So you’re the Grand Wizard."

Could Border Nation really fall into the hands of such weaklings? How could these people be trusted to defend it?

But he thought to himself that he could use this man to intimidate the others.

He said coldly, "If you want to live, then serve me, the Xuanyuan House, as your master!"

He Qinian clutched his chest, swaying as he struggled to stand.

His expression remained firm, his voice resolute: "The Xuanyuan House once had good rulers, but in the end, they were all tyrants and fools. I would rather die than serve you!"

"Stubborn fool!" Xuanyuan Leiting growled in anger.

No matter what the Xuanyuan House did, it was always right. Those who rebelled, be they commoners or officials, could only face death!

His killing intent reached its peak.

The guards immediately rushed forward, blades raised high!

Xuanyuan Leiting sneered, unleashing another wave of spiritual energy, knocking back the guards and breaking the protective formations the wizards had set up.

The sinister talismans rattled and vibrated, their red symbols glowing again as they greedily absorbed the souls of the fallen guards.

As a Grand Wizard, He Qinian could not just sit back and watch.

He immediately conjured a talisman of his own, biting his finger and pouring his own blood into the talisman to strengthen it, just barely managing to repel the evil talismans.

The other wizards quickly joined in, forming more seals to help.

Even so, resisting the evil talismans cost He Qinian a significant amount of his life force.

In an instant, silver streaks appeared in He Qinian’s hair, and deep wrinkles formed on his face.

"Grand Wizard, stop! You’ll drain your energy and your life!"

"That’s right, let’s kneel and serve him! If the ruler is the true dragon, why doesn’t he show up to save us? We don’t need to die for an irresponsible ruler!"

One by one, the wizards began to speak up.

They were all terrified.

They thought that kneeling and acknowledging Xuanyuan Leiting was nothing.

But He Qinian remained unmoved. He raised his voice and declared:

"Even if I exhaust all my energy! Even if I die here today! I will never kneel before the Xuanyuan House! I only serve the true dragon! The true dragon of Border Nation is Nanli! Chu Nanli!"

His voice was hoarse, his resolve unwavering.

He did it to defend the true dragon in his heart.

These cruel dogs didn’t deserve his submission!

Xuanyuan Leiting couldn’t help but laugh when he heard He Qinian’s defiant words.

"Heh heh heh... You refuse to kneel? Then I will make you kneel!"

He temporarily withdrew the evil talismans and struck with a blast of spiritual energy, shattering the formation and sending the wizards crashing to the ground, their chests heaving as they vomited blood.

The worst off was He Qinian.

He had absorbed so much of his own energy that his appearance had become that of an old man.

With each successive strike, his internal organs were severely damaged.

Yet, Xuanyuan Leiting slowly walked over to him, looking down from above.

He commanded:

"I’m giving you one chance. If you kneel now, I will heal you and restore you to your original state."

"You used those evil talismans to weaken me. How could I ever serve a monster like you?" He Qinian struggled to prop himself up, his voice cold as ice.

Xuanyuan Leiting extended his hands and laughed up at the sky.

"The greatest contribution of these powerless, talentless commoners is to serve as my food, to help me cultivate. It’s the law of the jungle. How can that be called evil?"

He stared down at He Qinian and struck again with his spiritual energy, causing He Qinian to cry out in pain.

"Will you kneel or not?!"

He Qinian’s pain eased slightly. He tore at his throat and screamed defiantly, "I will not kneel! Even if you tear me to pieces, I will not kneel!"
