Chapter 611: Hell Lord! Granny Meng! The Ancestor is Here!
If it were before, the ghost wouldn’t fear such a newly dead little ghost. But now, being suppressed by Nanli’s talismans, he had little ghost power left. While he pondered how to retaliate, a cold light descended.
Empress Xie was split in two, her soul slowly dissipating. It was Ye Siheng’s doing.
Everyone present was stunned. Empress Xie glared angrily at Ye Siheng, "Ninth Brother, why treat this palace so? I am your imperial sister-in-law!"
Nanli was puzzled, "Why should she face such an end? She has harmed many people; entering the Nether World would be her just deserts."
Ye Siheng answered her coldly, "What she cares about most is her son. Sending her to the Nether World gives her a chance to meet Ye Chengyan."
He glanced back at Empress Xie, his voice frigid, "You’re still aware that you’re my imperial sister-in-law? As the Empress Dowager, you failed to educate your son and harmed countless innocent lives. Now you’re faced with soul dispersion, it’s a mercy for you."
Seeing her soul fading, Empress Xie became utterly terrified. "How can you do this? What will you say to the Emperor?"
"Beihan! Save your aunt!"
"Aunt, I understand now. I’m paying for Yan’er’s life; you can rest in peace," Xie Beihan sighed.
Empress Xie opened her mouth to speak, but her body had completely vanished, swept away by an ominous wind, leaving no trace behind.
The ghost looked on, nearly having his eyes pop out. How could these two be so ruthless? He regretted not fleeing when he had the chance instead of showing off.
Tears of regret streamed down his face as he pleaded, "I sincerely want to change; can’t you spare me?"
Nanli smiled at him coldly, "What do you think?"
Despite the chill in her smile, the ghost held on to a shred of hope, "I’ll comply."
"But I don’t think so." With that, Nanli thrust her Dark Moon Sword into the skull.
Golden light burst forth, and a whirlwind erupted from within the skull, the ghost’s aura spreading throughout the valley.
"You’re too ruthless!" the ghost screamed in agony as he was torn apart. "Before I vanish, I must tell you my name!"
With an impassive expression, Nanli pressed harder; the skull shattered into pieces beneath her feet, obliterating it into dust.
The ghost didn’t manage to reveal his name before being scattered to the winds.
Xie Beihan stared in disbelief, "Sixth Sister, why wouldn’t you let him say his name? It must have been impressive."
Nanli sheathed her Dark Moon Sword. "Nothing of importance; I just didn’t want to hear it."
He was no ancient ghost king; what great name could he possibly have? After fighting, she felt this ghost was of little consequence. It was clear the Limitless Palace’s cultivators had been blind a thousand years ago, not realizing his weakness and believing his ghostly form was indestructible, thus opting to seal him instead.
Ghostly energy filled the temple and valley, but she and Ye Siheng remained unaffected. Nanli set up protective talismans around Lady Su and Rong Dongling to prevent the ghostly energy from invading them.
As more little green snakes gathered, she initially considered burning them all but worried it would set the entire valley ablaze, endangering nearby hills as well.
An idea sparked, and Nanli released her Eight Paws Evil Bees, asking, "Can you eliminate these snakes?"
The Evil Bees hesitated but flew over to investigate before forming a signal: "Yes."
"Then go and eliminate all the green snakes in the valley; there should be many. I appreciate your hard work," Nanli instructed.
The Evil Bees were eager to comply, flying quickly. Initially, the little green snakes dismissed the threat, but the bees, utilizing their full poison, overwhelmed them.
As the Evil Bees soared through the air, agile and swift, the little green snakes, limited to crawling, stood no chance. Even when they burrowed into the ground, the bees dug them up relentlessly, leaving no escape.
Soon, many little green snakes lay dead.
Throughout this, Fan Yunxi remained quiet, waiting patiently. Once Nanli finished, she cautiously asked, "The Ninth Princess, can I see the Marquis now?"
Nanli nodded, pointing her fingers at Fan Yunxi’s forehead.
When Fan Yunxi opened her eyes again, she saw Xie Beihan’s ghostly form.
Overwhelmed with emotion, she choked out, "Marquis..."
Xie Beihan floated over, wanting to wipe her tears, but ended up letting his hand drop, forcing a smile. "Don’t cry, Xi’er; we have a child now. This is a joyful thing."
"But I don’t want this child! I want you to stay by my side forever! I want... I want us to grow old together!"
After a long silence, Fan Yunxi finally expressed her true feelings. She regretted not revealing her heart sooner. Now, separated by realms, what use was it to say these things?
Xie Beihan looked at her sadly. "I wish for that too... Xi’er, I feel I owe you, but I am genuinely happy that you carry my child..."
"I feared our child would bring misfortune, but now that he has the Divine Wood for protection, I feel reassured."
"Xi’er, when you forget me, you can remarry. I only have one small request... please don’t change our child’s surname."
Fan Yunxi laughed and cried, both angry and amused. "How could I remarry? How could I let our child call someone else ’father’? Xie Beihan, is that how you see me?"
Xie Beihan hurriedly waved his hands, "You’re still young; I worry I’ll hold you back."
How could she be a widow for decades?
Fan Yunxi cried even harder. The distance between them felt insurmountable, even as they were so close.
Suddenly, a ghost envoy burst into the room and, upon seeing Nanli, exclaimed, "Hell Lord! Granny Meng! The Ancestor is here!"
