Chapter 39: Chapter 39: Dancing

"Get a driver’s license when you have time, I’ll buy you a car, so it won’t be such a hassle every time you come back," Jianjun advised Siyuan as he sent him to the car.

"I know," Siyuan responded noncommittally.

"Know, know, it’s always the same response, but where’s the license?" Jianjun said, irritated.

"Hehe..."

The reason Siyuan hadn’t gotten his license was partly that he found it troublesome, and partly that he didn’t need it.

He commuted daily on a fixed route; biking was more convenient than driving. Buying a car meant not only gas money but also significant expenses for maintenance and insurance.

Although Siyuan’s family was well-off, they weren’t incredibly wealthy, and he didn’t like asking his parents for money.

Of course, he wouldn’t refuse gestures like what his mom did today.

"Let’s go."

Siyuan got on a bus directly to Bin Hai, found a seat, and began reading "Embrace the Wind and Sleep."

As for Jianjun, he waved his hand, started his motorcycle, stepped on the gas, and left without a second glance.

After all, it wasn’t his first time sending his son off; he was used to it by now.

When Siyuan arrived back in Bin Hai, it was just past five o’clock.

Thinking back to the morning’s matchmaking and the midday hole-digging, and now he was already back home in Bin Hai in the afternoon.

Even for him, the round trip was tiring.

So, he planned to rest well once he got home.

But to his surprise, as soon as he opened the door, he saw Dou Dou standing on the table wiggling her rear like a flailing moth, her whole body trembling. It was funny but also exasperating, while Yin Xingyue stood below with a look of urgency, seemingly trying to coax her down.

Both were startled when the door suddenly opened.

"Potato~"

Dou Dou rode the wind and pounced directly towards Siyuan.

Seeing the Yin Wind rushing towards him, Siyuan had a thought, and suddenly, something about "Embrace the Wind and Sleep" clicked in his mind.

But now was not the time to think about that, he reached out and caught the little thing.

The little one struggled in the air, limbs flailing.

"What are you doing?" Siyuan asked, annoyed.

Then his gaze shifted to his computer desk, relieved to see nothing was amiss. But then again, they were ghosts; they couldn’t touch anything in the house.

"I was showing sister a dance I just learned," Dou Dou said innocently.

"You two know each other?" Siyuan looked towards Yin Xingyue, who was approaching.

"Banner Master~"

Yin Xingyue timidly called Siyuan, her eyes filled with complicated emotions.

She was curious and amazed by Siyuan, yet full of admiration.

"You can call me brother, just like Dou Dou," Siyuan said.

Yin Xingyue obediently changed her address to brother.

Siyuan let Dou Dou down, and the little one immediately started hopping around again.

"How did it go back home, problem solved?" Siyuan asked casually.

The day he went back home, he had let Yin Xingyue go to deal with her issues herself.

As for how she dealt with them, given her ability to become visible at will, she should have been able to scare her beastly stepfather to his core.

Yin Xingyue shook her head.

"Why?" Siyuan was surprised upon hearing this.

Was her stepfather so bold? Wasn’t he scared at all by a dead person appearing before him?

Yin Xingyue explained, "He’s gone missing."

"What does missing mean?" Siyuan asked, puzzled.

Dou Dou, looking up at the two talking, was turning in circles anxiously seeing that no one was paying her any attention.

"He hasn’t been home for several days. Mother couldn’t find him at his office either. We reported it to the police, and they said he’s missing and are investigating."

"Missing?" Shen Siyuan was somewhat surprised when he heard this.

His gaze fell on Yin Xingyue; a person doesn’t just disappear for no reason, could they be hiding on purpose, or were they kidnapped?

"We can only wait and see if the police can find them."

Shen Siyuan didn’t have any better ideas.

Yin Xingyue nodded slightly, then turned her gaze towards Dou Dou.

"You don’t need me to introduce you two, right? You already know each other?" Shen Siyuan put down his luggage and said with a smile.

Upon hearing this, Dou Dou immediately said loudly: "Sister is my good friend."

"Right, I still haven’t asked you, why did you come back here instead of staying at home with your parents?" Shen Siyuan asked.

"I came to play with Potato, he’s alone; isn’t that... very boring?"

"Are you trying to say ’lonely’?"

"Yes, yes, that’s what I wanted to say, but you said it first," Dou Dou said, while circling around Shen Siyuan.

Shen Siyuan grabbed her and knocked gently on her little head.

"Such a naughty kid, even dancing on my desk."

"I’m performing a dance for sister, Potato, do you want to watch?"

Dou Dou covered her little head, looking up with anticipation.

"Sure, let’s see what dance you’ve learned," Shen Siyuan said.

Dou Dou immediately started shaking her head and wiggling her bottom.

Beside them, Yin Xingyue looked at Dou Dou and Shen Siyuan’s interaction with envy.

She envied Dou Dou’s cheerful and lively demeanor and Shen Siyuan’s indulgent attitude towards her.

She had only ever felt this kind of affection from Grandma, and from no one else.

(gif released, check it out.)

"Haha, you’re jump dancing; where did you learn this?" Seeing her adorable actions, Shen Siyuan couldn’t help but laugh.

"I learned it from the TV, impressive right?" Dou Dou said proudly.

"Yes, you are very talented, but please, next time do not climb onto my desk to dance."

"Hehe~."

Dou Dou also smiled, feeling a little embarrassed.

"Puppy Potato, let me tell you, I met a big bad guy yesterday," Dou Dou suddenly said, hands on her hips and looking indignant.

Shen Siyuan looked at Yin Xingyue, wanting to ask her what happened.

Yin Xingyue shook her head, indicating she didn’t know.

"Tell me what happened."

"I saw an uncle who tied up an auntie and whipped her fiercely. The auntie cried out in pain, and it broke my heart..." Dou Dou waved her little hands angrily.

Shen Siyuan was shocked, wondering what she had seen.

"You didn’t reveal yourself and scare them, did you?" Shen Siyuan said.

Dou Dou shook her head, "It was so scary, I ran away."

"I wanted to find Potato, but Potato wasn’t there, then I met sister..." Dou Dou scratched her head, then suddenly realized.

Feeling a bit embarrassed, she said: "Then I forgot, Potato, you should quickly call the police to catch the bad guy."

Shen Siyuan was baffled, not knowing how to explain.

So, he casually asked, "Where did you see this?"

"That broken building over there," Dou Dou pointed in a direction.

"Huh?"

Shen Siyuan felt something was wrong.

After further questioning, he found out it was an abandoned building.

Could it be some wilderness enthusiasts? But the situation seemed off, this was the city center, and they were making such a fuss in an abandoned building at night?
