Chapter 333: Genius Dou Dou
Chapter 333: Chapter 333: Genius Dou Dou
Tang Tang sat in front of the electric bike, nestled in her mother’s arms, with her mouth wide open, letting the wind pour in.
She felt the wind whirl around inside her mouth, drill into her belly, play around there for a while, and then escape from her ears and nose.
Just then, Mao Sanmei suddenly slowed the bike to a stop by the roadside, then took out a mask to put on Tang Tang.
Tang Tang: (•̅_•̅)
Mao Sanmei examined Tang Tang, very satisfied with her own handiwork. Tang Tang reached out to pull the mask down, but she was stopped.
"You can’t do that."
Mao Sanmei shook her finger.
To give her newly acquainted mother some face, Tang Tang didn’t reach out to pull at it again.
Mao Sanmei actually knew a little sign language, as she had been mute for so many years and always needed to communicate with others. Over time, she had also learned some simple gestures.
However, because she was self-taught, many of the gestures were not accurate.
But some simple actions have universal meanings, so Tang Tang could communicate with Mao Sanmei on a basic level.
Due to her own limitations, even though Mao Sanmei could ride an electric bike, she rode very slowly and with extreme focus, constantly observing her surroundings.
But for Tang Tang, this was perfect. She enjoyed the feeling of travelling slowly on the road with the breeze on her face.
As Mao Sanmei rode, taking Tang Tang with her, it wasn’t aimless. She was familiarizing herself with the layout of the area. This was a strength of those who were deaf and mute; they could quickly get the lay of the land anywhere they went, imprinting special buildings in their minds to facilitate their future actions.
In their casual meandering, they actually found a police station.
So Mao Sanmei parked the bike, and took Tang Tang inside.
She had done her homework in advance, taking out a piece of paper with a clear explanation of the situation, then handed over the ring that Tang Tang had found.
The female officer who received them opened her eyes wide in surprise, incessantly giving her a thumbs-up and lavish praise, which made Mao Sanmei blush.
The reception desk at the police station was too high. Even on her tiptoes, Tang Tang couldn’t see over. Otherwise, she would have known her mother was handing over the ring and might have wondered if she was reluctant to do so.
Meanwhile, Shen Siyuan was writing an application for leave at his desk.
This was only the second day since he joined the company, and he was already planning to take a month off. Scratching his head, he felt a bit bad about it.
But he had matters to attend to that he couldn’t delay any longer. The only reason he agreed to join Red Hearts International was because of Ruan Hongzhuang’s persistent cajoling.
Zhang Hicheng, upon receiving the leave application from Shen Siyuan, was quite speechless.
Once he saw the duration of the leave—a whole month—he had an even more awkward look on his face.
"Are you serious?"
"Do I look like I’m joking?" Shen Siyuan responded with a serious expression.
"I think so," Zhang Hicheng retorted.
He then asked, "Does President Ruan know about this?"
"Of course, I’ve already told her," Shen Siyuan said.
"Then it’s all good." Zhang Hicheng took the application and quickly signed his name.
Wei Suhua, who had been paying close attention, came over to Shen Siyuan as soon as he returned to his seat.
"You’re taking leave, and for a whole month?" she exclaimed in surprise.
"Yes, I have some things to deal with."
"→_→, Are you trying to scam social security?"
"What do you mean?"
"It means coming to work just to transfer social security over to our company."
"That just reminded me," Shen Siyuan said.
His account had always been with Guanghui Animation, so naturally, he needed to transfer it now that he was at Red Hearts International.
He promptly picked up his phone and entrusted the matter to Jiang Taoshi. This was a small issue; there was no need to bother Ruan Hongzhuang about it.
Since Shen Siyuan was going to be on leave starting tomorrow, Zhang Hicheng didn’t bother assigning him any work.
With nothing else to do, he could only chat with Jiang Taoshi, seeing as Ruan Hongzhuang was busy with work.
Of course, he could probably play games on the computer without anyone minding, but since he had come to work, he ought to maintain some semblance of professionalism and not be too wild.
And so, the day passed without any incident.
At noon, he had lunch just with Jiang Taoshi, as Ruan Hongzhuang didn’t come down.
Having nothing better to do, he sent his Divine Sense into the Ten Thousand Soul Banner to observe the situation in Creation World, and then released the three little troublemakers who were wandering aimlessly inside.
Tomorrow he had a journey to undertake, planning to take the three of them with him. Duoduo and Dou Dou both needed to go home to say goodbye to their parents.
"I shouldn’t have listened to you and come to work at your company; I can’t get anything done."
In the evening after work, Shen Siyuan couldn’t help but complain to Ruan Hongzhuang.
"As if you did so much before," Ruan Hongzhuang gave him a sidelong glance.
"Hey, you sort of have a point, but I’m heading out tomorrow, so don’t miss me too much."
"Who would miss you?" Ruan Hongzhuang disdainfully replied.
However, she quickly added, "I know your phone doesn’t get through, but remember to call me, okay? Don’t just leave for a month and not call once; it doesn’t have to be every day, but at least once every three days."
"I’ll see how it goes. I’m not going out for fun; it’s a spiritual journey. Sometimes I might lose track of time, and there’s nothing I can do about it."
"Ah... okay then." Hearing this, Ruan Hongzhuang could only reluctantly compromise, as she had no other choice.
"Alright, let’s not talk about this. I’ll definitely call you when I have time, is that okay now?"
"Mhmm~"
Only then Ruan Hongzhuang smiled and stepped on the gas as the light turned green.
It was fortunate that Jiang Taoshi didn’t come with them today and had gone home instead; otherwise, she might have rolled her eyes at their conversation while sitting in the back seat.
When they arrived home, Duoduo and Dou Dou were at home playing, while Xiao Yue was not around, whereabouts unknown.
"Did you guys tell your dad and mom?"
"We told them!" Both kids said in unison.
"What did they say?"
"They said to work hard."
"To take good care of ourselves."
"To listen and behave well."
"To miss mom."
...
The two kids bantered back and forth as if performing a comic dialogue.
"Where’s Tang Tang?" Shen Siyuan found it odd not to see Tang Tang.
"She’s doing her homework?" Jiang Yingxue replied.
"Homework?"
Shen Siyuan was a bit surprised hearing this. What homework did Tang Tang have?
"Today her sign language teacher came for a lesson, and before leaving assigned her some simple homework, which she’s practicing in her room," Jiang Yingxue explained.
"Oh." Shen Siyuan somewhat understood.
At this moment, Dou Dou approached with a curious question, "Potato, why can’t Tang Tang talk?"
"Because she can’t hear, so she can’t learn to speak."
Shen Siyuan thought of her amusing behavior from yesterday and patiently explained to her.
"Why can’t she hear?" Dou Dou asked again.
"Because her ears are broken," Duoduo chimed in from the side.
"Right, there’s something wrong with her ears, so the sound can’t reach her brain," Shen Siyuan elaborated.
Dou Dou scratched her head; she clearly saw Tang Tang’s ears were intact, not half-moon shaped or single-eared, so why was that?
"Then why can’t the sound just go into her brain and talk to her?" Dou Dou blurted out.
"Eh?"
Shen Siyuan widened his eyes in surprise as he snapped to realization.
He understood what Dou Dou meant.
What Dou Dou referred to by going into the brain to talk was dream communication.
Dream communication includes entering dreams and creating dreams. Entering dreams is simply entering another’s dream, but creating dreams means you can construct the dream landscape according to your own will, which is also a form of transferring information.
As long as you convey language to Tang Tang in a dream, wouldn’t she easily learn to speak?
Thinking this through, Shen Siyuan couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
He hadn’t expected the solution to the problem would come so easily from Dou Dou.
Truly a genius.
