Chapter 338: Chapter 338: Who Is on a Date with Xiang Mingzhu
Qiao Xi hesitated.
She still had a lot of things on her plate, and in the morning, she was scheduled to provide free health check-ups for employees at Tianyuan Group.
But Huo Sijiao’s eyes were filled with expectation, making it difficult for her to refuse.
"Jiaojiao, I’m afraid recently..."
Before she could finish her sentence, she heard noise coming from the staircase.
The man spoke as he put on his coat, "You guys go ahead, I’ve asked Zhou Yu to reserve a spot for you."
As he approached, he greeted Du Juan and naturally took a seat next to Qiao Xi, pouring himself a cup of warm water before speaking.
"It’s good to mix work with leisure. Treating so many patients with acupuncture every day can be exhausting."
After he finished speaking, he looked up, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he swallowed the warm water.
Huo Sijiao excitedly said, "Sister-in-law, my brother has agreed."
Qiao Xi furrowed her brow and said, "But the health check-up at Tianyuan Group isn’t finished yet."
"Come to the company with me in the morning, I will ask Old Jin to arrange twenty appointments to reduce your workload. At noon, I’ll have Old Chen take you and Jiaojiao to the restaurant, and Jiaojiao can also help you out at the company. Shu Xue has shifts at the hospital and can’t come every day."
Huo Xingzhou had already planned everything, and his tone left no room for discussion.
Qiao Xi said helplessly, "All right then."
She looked at Huo Xingzhou, not wanting to reject his kindness.
Huo Sijiao was the most excited, "Thank you, brother, thank you, sister-in-law. Sister-in-law, we can stay there all afternoon. It’s a great place."
Both her mother and brother had mentioned privately that she should take her sister-in-law out more often.
The sister-in-law was reserved by nature and didn’t have a rich leisure life. She grew up in the countryside, a well-behaved and sensible girl, seldom exposed to the glitz and glamour of the city. The upper echelons of Haicheng looked down on her background, both openly and covertly. Taking her sister-in-law out to see the world would let her become gradually accustomed to their ways.
They also wanted her to become more cheerful and outgoing.
"Sister-in-law, I’ll help you later. You can also teach me some medical knowledge; I really enjoy working with you," Sijiao said.
Huo Sijiao had been doted on since childhood, with nobody asking much from her, and she hadn’t found anything she ought to do. From Qiao Xi, she gained some positive energy.
"Sure," Qiao Xi agreed cheerily.
...
As noon approached.
Old Chen drove to the base of the Tianyuan Building to pick up Huo Sijiao and Qiao Xi.
After getting into the car, Huo Sijiao started raving to Qiao Xi about Baroque Restaurant, "There are only three in the whole world, and we have one right here in Haicheng. Thanks to my brother’s connections, we got a reservation. They have a fixed number of guests they serve each day to avoid compromising the dining environment."
She glanced at Qiao Xi and said, "It’s a good thing we’re both not dressed too casually today since they only accept guests in formal attire."
Upon hearing this, Qiao Xi said, "It’s that particular?"
"Yes. Today, I will take you to experience a top-tier restaurant’s dining."
Qiao Xi was full of anticipation.
The car stopped at the end of a bustling long street, and a swift-footed attendant approached to open the door.
Qiao Xi and Huo Sijiao slowly exited the vehicle.
"Miss Huo and Young Madam Huo, right? This way, please." Qiao Xi and Huo Sijiao didn’t need to introduce themselves; the server recognized them and led them inside.
The restaurant’s dome was high, with Tiffany blue as the primary color, embellished by dopamine-inducing hues. The long blue curtains cascaded down, and when bathed in sunlight, it felt like entering a fairytale world.
The dining tables were made of high-grade oak topped with cloisonné patterns.
Delicate pale yellow dinnerware and fresh floral arrangements topped the tables, a fusion of Eastern aesthetics and Western style.
The hallway was adorned with vibrant world-famous paintings, with some guests pausing to admire them.
The most distinctive feature of Baroque Restaurant was its asymmetrical beauty, yet it held a charm of its own.
Qiao Xi was genuinely astonished by everything she saw!
She also understood the world that Huo Sijiao was accustomed to was worlds apart from her own.
"Sister-in-law, it was worth the trip, wasn’t it?"
"Mhm."
Looking at the design style here, she couldn’t even imagine how delicious the food could be.
"This way, please."
The waiter led them to a great seat by the glass window, "This is the seat President Huo specifically instructed us to reserve for you two."
After Qiao Xi and Huo Sijiao sat down, there were two waiters assigned specifically to their table.
The restaurant offered open-style dining, with tables neither too close nor too far from each other, creating a very quiet environment. Out of the window, there was even a lake with swans frolicking in it. Not far away were oak cabins, surrounded by lush shrubs.
It was like something out of a fairy tale.
Two black menus with gold trimmings were placed in front of them: "Please feel free to order, and our chef will also randomly serve dishes to lucky patrons."
Huo Sijiao rested her chin in her hand and asked with a smile, "So, do you think I’m one of the lucky ones?"
The waiters here were tall and handsome, all over six feet, dressed in custom Versace outfits. They had an excellent demeanor; they didn’t seem like waiters but more like runway models.
The waiter smiled and replied, "Having such a beautiful girl grace our restaurant is already a great fate."
His answer was watertight and also flattered Huo Sijiao.
Huo Sijiao asked, "Did you all specifically take classes on emotional intelligence?"
The waiter bent over to open the menu for her and said, "We have training courses every day, serving distinguished guests is our purpose." His fingers were long, with slightly pronounced knuckles and his little finger unconsciously curved.
Huo Sijiao noticed at a glance that these were hands accustomed to playing the piano, it was hard to imagine what level the waiters here were at.
She spoke softly, "Could you introduce us to the specialties of your restaurant?"
The menu was marked in multiple languages.
The waiter’s voice was soft and gentle, "For appetizers, we recommend the grilled octopus leg, the sauce has a rich layering, which girls tend to like. The Gillardeau oysters are also good, or perhaps the tuna tartar."
"For the main course, our popular options include the Angus beef cheek meat with beetroot mashed potatoes, simple black truffle pasta, and thinly sliced beef with tuna sauce, which all taste excellent. Do you both like foie gras? This new dish, M9 Wagyu beef with foie gras, is also on the menu."
Qiao Xi flipped through the other menu, listening to the waiter’s recommendations.
From appetizers, soup starters to main courses and desserts.
It was an eye-opening experience.
Huo Sijiao hesitated and asked, "Sister-in-law, is there something you feel like eating?"
Qiao Xi replied, "Whatever you order is fine with me, I’m not picky."
"Alright then."
Huo Sijiao held the menu, taking into account Qiao Xi’s preferences and ordered several dishes.
Once the waiter left, Huo Sijiao began to analyze the clothing, behavior, habits, and other details of others in a low voice with Qiao Xi, deducing their life experiences.
Qiao Xi listened as she talked eloquently, gazing intently at her.
Huo Sijiao touched her cheek and asked, "Sister-in-law, is there something on my face?"
Qiao Xi shook her head and said, "Jiaojiao, have you ever realized that you have strong social skills, keen observational and memory skills, and the ability to improvise? I remember you studied broadcasting and hosting in college; have you considered becoming a host or a journalist?"
Huo Sijiao fell into deep thought; she had never considered any grand ambitions before, only wanting to live a life of ease without responsibilities.
Was she suitable for that?
Qiao Xi didn’t interrupt her, instead turning her head to scan the expansive restaurant.
But she spotted a familiar figure.
Mingzhu Xiang was dressed elegantly and sat not far from them, her head tilted down to cover her laugh, her eyes warm and shy as she smiled at the young man sitting across from her.
From her angle, Qiao Xi could only see the man’s back.
Wondering who could be on a date with Mingzhu Xiang!
