System's POV -
Chapter 1026 - 1026: Take One For The Team
Although Thirteen had promised he would deliver Roland to Princess Laventia on a silver platter, he wasn't really going to do it without civilly talking it over with the other party.
That said, Thirteen started looking for the Hero and asked his disciple, who mentioned they were currently having an afternoon snack in a cafe.
Thirteen quickly headed there and saw Roland, Derek, Joshua, Clark, and Char seated at a table together.
"Master, over here!" Derek waved at the teenage boy, who had arrived wearing casual clothes.
Thirteen sat on the chair Derek had personally pulled back for him and ordered coffee from the waitress.
"It looks like you're alone today," Char commented. "Where are Erica and Sherry?"
"They're doing something important," Thirteen replied as he shifted his attention to Roland, who was also eyeing him as he drank his coffee.
"What brings you here?" Roland asked as he set his cup on the table. "I'm sure you didn't go out of your way just to have coffee with us, did you?"
"Of course not," Thirteen replied. "I'm a very busy person, you know?"
"Then why?"
"Wait a second."
Thirteen took the cup of coffee from the waitress, added six sugar cubes, and stirred it thoroughly with his spoon.
"That's a lot of sugar…" Char commented.
"I need my brain to work properly today," Thirteen said. "There are lots of things on my plate, you know?"
After taking a few sips of his coffee, Thirteen placed it on the table and finally went to business.
"A few days ago, the Azothralls attacked Casimir City and Velmusa City at the same time," Thirteen stated. "Their targets are Shana and Princess Aracelle. Although we managed to save them both, the Azothralls succeeded in capturing a few Jinns who possess holy powers.
"Even with active search, their whereabouts are currently unknown, making them extremely dangerous. As such, I proposed a plan to find their base and eliminate them all. The Succubus Princess, Princess Laventia, holds the key to making this operation succeed.
"However, she has a few conditions. One of those conditions was for Roland to spend the night with her."
Roland choked on his coffee, coughing uncontrollably.
It took him a few minutes to recover, but when he did, he stared at Thirteen as if wondering if the teenage boy was just pranking him.
"Are you serious?" Roland asked.
"Yes." Thirteen nodded. "Derek's going with you, too."
This time, Derek choked on his milk tea, drawing a few sympathetic glances from the others.
Ignoring Derek's hardship, Roland glared at Zion and demanded an answer.
"Why would I agree to that condition?" Roland asked. "Don't tell me you agreed to it?"
"I agreed to it."
"You f*cker."
Roland couldn't help but curse, hearing the teenage boy confirm he had agreed to something without consulting him.
"Listen here, Roland." Thirteen placed his cup on the table and looked at the Hero with a serious expression. "Everyone is doing their best to end this war as soon as possible. If your sacrifice can save millions of people, why won't you do it?"
"That's easy for you to say because the one Princess Laventia wanted wasn't you—it's me." Roland scoffed.
"It's not my fault that you're more good-looking than me," Thirteen stated." You should be happy instead, you know? Although Princess Laventia is a succubus, she's still a chaste maiden."
Before Roland could even reply, two young men suddenly barged in and made their presence known.
"You came to look for the right men, Zion," Vincent said as he flipped his hair as if he were some kind of shampoo model. "I'll take one for the team and handle this on my own."
"Sir, you can count on us." Mr. Penny Tration saluted. "If we can save millions of people by sacrificing our bodies, we will not hesitate to do it for the sake of humanity!"
Thirteen blinked once, then twice, wondering how these two womanizers got wind of this conversation.
However, he still nodded in the end.
"I guess I can send you guys to the other succubus as freebies. Make sure to leave a good impression on them, okay? I only want five-star reviews and nothing else."
"Trust me, Zion. I got this!"
"Sir, you really are the best commander ever!"
Clark eyed the three young men and couldn't help but feel a tinge of envy. However, that feeling quickly disappeared when a chill ran down his spine.
He then glanced at his side and saw Char smiling sweetly at him.
They said that action spoke louder than words, and her smile was telling Clark that if he didn't want to sleep on the floor tonight, he better behave himself.
Knowing how to retreat and advance, Clark decided to make a strategic decision and held Char's hand.
"I will not exchange you even for a thousand succubus," Clark said with a straight face.
Char's smile deepened. "Good answer."
She then gently squeezed his hand, and Clark wisely chose not to continue this topic for the time being.
"You can just send them since they are willing," Roland stated. "I'm not going."
Thirteen sighed. "Roland, Shana is in danger, and you are the only one who can help her. Do you want her to fall into the hands of the Azothralls? Do you want her to suffer a fate worse than death?"
"Of course not!" Roland replied in anger.
"Then help me," Thirteen stated. "Help me find those Azothralls so I can kill them all."
"B-But…" Roland gritted his teeth because he was having an internal battle.
"Look, why are you looking at this as if you're about to be tortured?" Thirteen arched an eyebrow. "Princess Laventia is quite beautiful, you know? She wouldn't lose to Shana or Erica when it comes to good looks.
"Also, like I said earlier, Princess Laventia is still a maiden. Do you know how many guys would kill for the chance to take your place?"
"Are you really sure you would have agreed if the one she chose was you?" Roland inquired. "Even though you're already engaged to Erica and Sherry?"
"Are you underestimating my future wives?" Thirteen asked back. "They may feel bad about it, but they can see the bigger picture. Although they will be reluctant, they will still agree to it since this is something that must be done.
"Unfortunately, I am not as good-looking as you, so she chose you instead of me. That's just how it is. If I were you, I'd just charge it to experience. After all, you will learn many things if you try something different."
"Then how about Joshua?" Roland, who wanted to drag his ex-best friend to the mud with him, asked. "He's also handsome. Why didn't the succubus ask for him?"
"Actually, I asked them this question as well," Thirteen replied. "Their answer was quite interesting."
The room fell silent as everyone waited for the teenage boy to continue, curious to hear why Joshua hadn't been chosen.
"Princess Laventia said Joshua looks sly, so she didn't want him. She said he might manipulate her and her sisters to do something."
Joshua smiled faintly as he could see himself doing just that.
With a bit of struggle, peer pressure, and a few more coffee breaks, Roland reluctantly agreed to go with the delegation that would visit Velmusa City to seal the deal with the Velmoria Kingdom.
Thirteen sighed in relief. If he could help it, he didn't want to clobber the Hero unconscious and tie him up like a pig for slaughter.
Frankly, he wasn't too worried about Roland since "Fate" might once again intervene to save his innocent bum.
This was actually an experiment by the teenage boy to see what Fate's limitation was when it came to protecting her chosen ones.
