Chapter 17: SysDi 17: Training Plans

Now that Evan knew that he can level up, it was only a matter finding out how he can go higher quick.

Last night was a little disappointing. Evan had asked Erwin how meditation works. He was taught how Erwin does it and when he tried to do it, he couldn’t do it. The proper way to sit was awkward and his back felt stiff even before they were finished.

Erwin just told him that it takes practice, until meditation becomes almost second nature to him.

If it was a positioning that he knew wouldn’t hurt his back the longer he sat on a mat on the ground, he would’ve stayed and tried out all the ways Erwin was breathing while in it.

Evan knew he still have to keeps up with that. So, he decided that he will use meditation as his downtime later, when he is done with exploring.

It will hurt, but he had to practice. Maybe once he’s used to it, the awkwardness he felt while he’s sitting on the ground cross-legged wouldn’t bother him anymore.

It is the next morning. This time, Evan finished all of his routine before going back to his home. He has complete ease finishing all of his routine now, not even breaking a sweat anymore.

"Status." He says and the translucent panel appears in front of him.

He stared at it for a while. He has a lot of things to work at. It is going to take so much time to get them up, if he’s able to. If only he can find something that could accelerate a training regimen?

He paced inside his room, the panel staying in the place he had called on it. Then, he made up his mind.

Library.

There are tons of books there that he could borrow for free, and use their computers too for faster search. There are a lot of terms he has no idea about. And he’s about to find out what they mean so he could have an idea on what he could do for training... Hopefully.

Evan took a paper and pen and rote a note on them to let his parents know where he is, just in case he’s not home when they’re back. Then, he left home and began walking towards their town’s center, where most of establishments were.

It didn’t take him long to get there.

The library itself is a three door building. Evan looked around and saw that there are a lot of people around today, going in and out. It seems to be a busy day.

He enters the door and saw the librarian, which he remembered to be Mrs. Grey.

"Hello Mrs. Grey." He greets, attempting to catch the librarian’s attention.

The old woman saw him standing in front of the counter, not standing on his tip-toes. He’s just standing there. She wear light make-up, subtle enough that it wasn’t obvious at first glance, unless someone looks at her lips. She’s wearing a long dress, a shawl draped around her upper torso. There’s a smaller, circular shaped glasses in front of her. She gave Evan a small smile. "Ah, hello young one. What can I do for you?"

"I’m here to look for books to read." Evan replies. "Not sure what yet. I’ll go search for them later. How long can I borrow them for?"

"Five days starting the next day." She replies. "Are you sure you want to borrow books? You can use the computer upstairs instead."

Evan nods his head. "I’ll be okay. If I do need the computer, I will ask for help. Thank you."

"You’re welcome, dear."

Evan made his way towards the second floor first, after following a bunch of signs that leads him up there. There are some fiction books that caught his eyes, most of them based off of game characters.

They weren’t the popular kind of books, but for his purposes of learning just a tiny bit more about games, he’ll read what he needed to.

He read the summary of at least ten, deciding to bring home three with him for now. He went back downstairs to figure out how to use the computers, which he managed to do with barely any incident.

’Iva? Are you done with your...thing?’ Evan asked, mentally.

His mind is quiet for almost the entire day now. He remembered that Iva asked for some time for yesterday so he’s not exactly expecting any response.

And he didn’t get any, even after a few more minutes of waiting.

So, Evan used the computer to do some searches. He found some very interesting things and finally managed to have some ideas on what he could do.

His Str or Strength was 4.

Does doing farm work help with it? Evan would probably have to think more ideas on how he could train that aspect.

His Agi or Agility was 7.

If he can improve that with running, maybe he can do a lot of running. He’s has always been able to catch Samuel whenever the two of them plays tag. Maybe that is something he can do.

His Con or Constitution was 5

It looks fairly average for him. When he did some searches, it was talking about some laws, which doesn’t seem right. Then, he came across the body and its susceptibility to sickness. If he has average, he knew he has to find out how to strengthen his body. He should probably find out how to get other food that isn’t just what they could get from the garden. Something meat maybe? That is a very occasional thing to eat for them. He’ll find a way to have access to that.

If that takes a while, he hopes it can be delayed.

His Wis or Wisdom was 2.

Based off of what he had read, his low number makes sense. He thinks he could just try getting some experience elsewhere and that would naturally go up? He’s not entirely sure. If the rest of his numbers go up and his wisdom doesn’t, he might find a way to raise that up when that comes up.

His Int or Intelligence was 2.

It was similar to his wisdom. The difference was that Evan would need to do some reading on his free time, something he has never done. He was only taught how to read and write, that was it. If there’s anything else he needs to get this one up, he would probably have to read more or study hard when he gets in Stardust.

And finally, his Cha or Charisma is 3.

Evan had been staring at that number for a few hours. He has no idea how to put that number higher at all. He’s confused about how to get it higher. Is it naturally a smaller number because he’s young and that will eventually raise up? His searches in the computer did not yield straight to the point descriptions. At one point, he will just wait.

Overall, there are ones that he can try and experiment for now and those that he can slightly delay. He thinks that both his strength and agility, paired with constitution would be trained at the same time. There were some exercises that he can imitate from his searches that would help with that immensely.

When he’s tired, he can catch a breather and meditate. That way, he can train physically, rest and the continue again. It could be his best chance in seeing if any of his plans will bore fruit.

Having his mind set, he got the books he intended to borrow and went to the librarian to have the books signed off.

Evan had just left the library when a translucent panel comes up in from of him.

Evan let the panel float for a bit, not wanting to attract anyone’s attention at the moment if he spoke out loud.

That’s a weird title. Evan stared at as he walked back towards his home. Do all titles give him random perks? Maybe he should start collecting them. He has no idea how to get them though.

Once he is nearing their house, Evan sighs. "No." He replied loudly, so he can get rid of the panels. Still, he got some progress for having a good interaction with the librarian?

He looks at the sky. The sun is still up but it is slowly dipping down the horizon. It is too late to start the training he had in mind. But he knew that tomorrow, there will be no excuses. He has less than three months to see if he can improve. He cannot afford to waste any more time.
