Sword Aura to the Heavens -
Chapter 61 The True Inheritance
Chapter 61: Chapter 61 The True Inheritance
Above Sword Valley, Li Fan’s consciousness descended into the valley.
This time, a sword was summoning him.
"Huh?"
*Li Fan felt a strange sensation—how could so many swords summon him at once?*
In the past, the ancestors of Li Mountain within Sword Valley had been unwilling to bestow a sword.
*Was it because Li Mountain was now facing a crisis?*
*He didn’t know how to choose; this was completely different from his previous experience.*
Lu Yuan appeared to perceive something. She opened her eyes and saw numerous swords within Sword Valley exuding Sword Aura, humming softly. Her stunning eyes showed a hint of surprise as she looked toward Li Fan.
*It was him?*
At that moment, Li Fan suddenly sensed something familiar, as if something was calling to him.
His awareness moved toward the source and headed to the farthest stone wall within Sword Valley.
The sword embedded in the stone wall emitted a soft hum. Its Sword Intent condensed into a vortex, and Li Fan felt as though his consciousness was beyond his control, swallowed by the swirling Sword Aura.
*The sensation was excruciatingly uncomfortable. He tried to retract his awareness, but it was already too late; the terrifying vortex had swept him in an instant.*
*Li Fan felt as though his head was exploding, his consciousness separating from his physical body.*
Reached the Soul Emergence Realm, a cultivator could willingly separate their Primordial Spirit. Yet Li Fan, still within the Refining God Realm, was forcibly split.
Li Fan’s physical form remained seated cross-legged, Sword Intent swirling around him like an unmoving sculpture.
Meanwhile, his consciousness was pulled into the stone wall.
*His mind shook violently, and in the next moment, Li Fan found himself in another time and space.*
The setting sun was dyed blood-red as countless demons rampaged across the land, slaughtering everything in sight.
"This is... the past..."
*Familiar images emerged in his mind—memories he wished to bury forever.*
Among the swarm of demons, a boy stood. The boy seemed possessed, his body surging with horrific Demon Energy. His physical form twisted, and shadowy illusions of demons emerged, transforming into demonic limbs.
The boy rushed toward the humans nearby. He was starving, desperate to eat.
But he held back. He couldn’t devour humans.
*He reminded himself—he was human, not a demon.*
"Boom!"
*Li Fan found his consciousness overlapping with the boy’s, as though he had leaped through time and space. The overwhelming hunger hit him like a tidal wave; the gnawing need to consume humans felt like it would kill him.*
Several figures appeared ahead of him. Li Fan looked toward them, his eyes flickering with a cold light. His instinct drove him forward, but a voice in his mind whispered temptations.
"Eat them."
*The enticing voice held a magnetic pull, threatening to erode his will.*
*But Li Fan resisted fiercely.*
"He’s a demon! Kill him!"
"Kill him!"
The figures glared at Li Fan with malevolent expressions.
More faces appeared, and he seemed to stand back on Li Mountain, seeing the countless faces of its inhabitants. They pointed at him, shouting vehemently, "He will transform into a demon—kill him!"
No end to these faces, all staring murderously, wanting him dead.
*Anger burned within him, his mind twisting. The unbearable hunger gnawed harder as the voice of temptation chimed incessantly: kill them.*
*Killing intent surged uncontrollably in his heart. He wanted to slaughter them all.*
*But Li Fan wrestled in agony against himself.*
*Everything felt too real; his consciousness could no longer distinguish illusion from reality.*
*He stood on the edge of a decision, as everyone sought to kill him, taunting him as though he were a demon.*
*The voice whispered relentlessly—devour those who wanted him dead.*
*Anger and fury built into a violent crescendo, his killing intent growing like wildfire, and his eyes blazed fiercely.*
*Yet deep within his soul, there remained resistance—another voice reminding him he was human.*
"Xiao Fan."
A gentle voice resonated in his mind, followed by the appearance of a beautiful face.
"Senior Sister." Li Fan struggled painfully, gazing at the caring face before him.
"Do you want to kill them?" Ye Qinghuang’s eyes bore into him, her tone soft.
"Yes." Li Fan nodded painfully. He did.
"Then pick up your sword," Ye Qinghuang said warmly. "Use your sword to kill them. You’re a Sword Cultivator, not a demon. You’re human."
"Fine."
Li Fan nodded, his inner fury roaring wildly as Sword Intent surged from his body.
His sword struck, tearing the illusion apart.
*Li Fan returned to himself once more, gasping heavily. The apparition of Senior Sister had been the voice of his very soul.*
He lifted his gaze forward, and with each steady step, he pressed on.
The scene before him shifted—no longer the previous illusion. A long corridor appeared, stretching endlessly toward its depths. Once again, Li Fan felt that familiar presence summoning him.
*This reminded him of Old Blind Man’s words.*
To retrieve his sword.
When the moment arrives, he would understand.
*Could it be that the sword Old Blind Man spoke of was hidden within this corridor?*
Step by step, Li Fan pressed forward. At the corridor’s end, his heart raced as his eyes took in his surroundings.
He now stood within an ancient hall. At the center of the hall loomed a bronze throne, upon which sat a shadowy figure gripping a sword that pierced through the ground.
*The sense of familiarity grew stronger than ever, pulling his attention to the sword—a stunning weapon radiating a terrifying aura. It had called him here.*
"My sword."
*A thought flickered through his mind—this was the purpose of his journey to Sword Valley, the sword that Old Blind Man had spoken of.*
*Now it made sense why the Old Blind Man had insisted on sending him here.*
*He recalled Old Snake’s cryptic words by Medicine Cleansing Lake.*
Where is Li Mountain’s sword?
*Was it this sword?*
Li Fan’s gaze shifted suddenly, scanning the hall. Around the throne were eight statues, lifelike in detail, resembling eight living figures.
One statue began to stir; a figure stepped out, tall and imposing with an overwhelmingly commanding presence that locked eyes with Li Fan.
"Congratulations on passing Sword Inquiry and Heart Inquiry to arrive here." The towering figure addressed Li Fan.
Sword Inquiry and Heart Inquiry.
The challenges outside were Sword Inquiry; the illusion earlier had been Heart Inquiry.
*The appearance of Senior Sister’s voice had been a manifestation of his innermost mind.*
"Senior, where is this place?" Li Fan asked.
"You inherited the ’key’ to enter here, yet you know not what this place is?" The towering figure’s gaze brimmed with amusement as he said, "Throughout the years, many sword geniuses of Li Mountain have reached this hall, yet no one has ever taken this sword."
"Whose sword is this?" Li Fan asked.
"Overcome our test, and you will naturally know whose sword this is." The imposing figure strode forward. With each step, his presence loomed heavier, though he suppressed his cultivation to match Li Fan’s level. Suddenly, behind the figure, a white tiger apparition materialized, roaring ferociously.
*"Dharma Form or Martial Spirit?"* Li Fan focused on the figure’s aura. Martial Spirit belonged to martial artists, amplifying strength and martial will; Dharma Form was the tool of a Qi Cultivator, enhancing mana and offensive power.
"No matter Dharma Form or Martial Spirit, they are but techniques for a cultivator. Don’t lose sight of your path—these are merely aides to your sword."
The towering figure boomed as he raised his colossal sword. A horrifying Sword Intent, the very embodiment of killing and destruction, surged forth with the aura of death directed at Li Fan.
White tigers embody killing and slaughter.
The massive sword descended, accompanied by the terrifying intent to annihilate. Li Fan’s golden Jiao Long apparition emerged behind him, Sword Intent flowing through his body.
"Watch closely!" the towering figure bellowed, swinging his sword down. Li Fan felt as if an enormous white tiger beast was pouncing toward him, its killing Sword Aura attempting to rip him apart.
Li Fan abruptly struck, his Sword Aura surging as his momentum spiked dramatically.
One-word slash.
Their swords clashed. Li Fan’s strike tore a fissure through the white tiger’s killing intent, though the immense force and Sword Aura flung him against the wall.
The towering figure advanced again, his sword sweeping forward, the white tiger roaring ferociously as it unleashed one attack after another.
Li Fan collided against the ancient hall’s walls. The towering figure sneered, "If this is all you have, I might as well send you back now."
*Li Fan locked his gaze onto the advancing figure. He inhaled deeply as Sword Aura surged from his body, growing ever stronger. Reaching a state of selflessness, his blood boiled, and the convergence of his Spirit allowed his sword to embody everything.*
"Buzz..."
*A terrifying Sword Intent erupted from his being. At that moment, Li Fan became one with his sword. His will transcended, achieving the Unity of Heaven and Man and entering the Realm of Sword Dao Celestial.*
*Li Fan’s sharp gaze revealed unwavering determination—there was nothing but the sword.*
*Kill the opponent.*
"Kill!"
*Li Fan’s aura soared to its peak as the opponent’s sword descended, the white tiger roaring in fury. With laser focus, Li Fan pushed his will to the extreme, entering his peak state in an instant.*
"Buzz."
Li Fan lunged forward—Heavenly Nine Declines, the first strike, still the one-word slash.
A streak of light cut through space, faster than the eye could follow.
His sword rends the white tiger apparition, tearing the opponent’s Sword Aura to shreds, slicing through the figure’s body.
To Li Fan’s astonishment, the towering figure did not vanish but stood before him, gazing intently.
"Impressive, you truly are his successor." The towering figure commented, "Li Mountain’s lineage has produced some extraordinary Sword Cultivators after all."
"His?" Li Fan asked, "Do you mean my master?"
*Li Fan recalled his master’s cryptic words.*
*He chose you.*
*So his Master’s Master had chosen Old Blind Man, who in turn chose him.*
"This sword technique is likely from your Master’s Master. He visited this place long ago, though back then, he hadn’t fully realized this Sword Dao, and thus couldn’t pass the trial," the figure remarked. "Nonetheless, his Sword Dao is among the most brilliant in Li Mountain’s millennia-long history."
*Li Fan marveled. His Master’s Master had once entered Da Li Imperial City with a single sword in hand and taken his Master back to Li Mountain.*
*A feat so awe-inspiring it rivaled the legends of Li Mountain’s early generations.*
"Your master’s master was followed by your master, inheriting this Sword Dao," the towering figure continued. "Your master walked farther along this path than his predecessor but still couldn’t complete the trial. You, too, are incapable of maintaining this current state, which is unfortunate."
*Heavenly Nine Declines—each and every strike was forged at the apex.*
"You will likely share their fate." The towering figure began fading, replaced by another statue that glowed brightly. A new figure stepped out from the light.
Li Fan stared resolutely at the approaching figure.
*His Master’s Master, his Master, Senior Sister, and Senior Brother—each one had paved the way to this moment.*
*Li Fan finally grasped the weight of their expectations for him.*
*How could he let them down!*
