Chapter 141 Punishing Her in Private

Chapter 141: Chapter 141 Punishing Her in Private

"Officer Shen... Officer Shen." Sang Ning greeted Shen Yi somewhat nervously.

Shen Yi merely swept her a glance without much emotion. With a wave of his hand, a young woman brought Qin Jiaxiang and Qin Kai out.

The father and son pair were shackled with electronic handcuffs and foot shackles, their heads hung low.

"Did she give you the nutrient liquid?" Shen Yi asked.

Both father and son raised their heads simultaneously, staring straight at Sang Ning. Their voices suddenly turned sharp and agitated.

"Officer, it’s her!"

Shen Yi let out a cold laugh. "Convenient. You’ve made it easy for us by deciding to turn yourself in."

Sang Ning’s eyes widened in confusion.

"Chu Xi, arrest her!"

"Understood!"

Still in bewilderment, Sang Ning was abruptly restrained with handcuffs and foot shackles.

She felt utterly helpless—was this how the Federation handled cases? So hasty and careless?

They hadn’t even started questioning her, yet she’d already been treated like a criminal.

——

Federation Police Station, interrogation room.

Sang Ning didn’t know when she had managed to offend the female officer named Chu Xi.

In less than thirty minutes inside the interrogation room, Chu Xi employed various forms of torture on her without a word of hesitation.

After the final electrocution, Sang Ning collapsed to the ground, struggling to lift her head to look up at the looming figure of Chu Xi. Her voice was weak yet filled with confusion as she asked, "Officer, I have no grudge against you. Why do you hate me enough to go this far?"

Chu Xi pressed her lips into a slight smile, but her eyes glinted with a chilling and sinister aura.

"Miss, you refused to hand over that missing vial of nutrient liquid. I was merely performing standard interrogation procedures."

Chu Xi stared intently into Sang Ning’s face, incapable of explaining the deep hostility she felt toward her. This was, strangely, their first meeting.

Sang Ning had immediately told Chu Xi that she’d already consumed the vial of nutrient liquid, but Chu Xi refused to believe her. What could she do?

Exhausted from the torment, dripping with sweat, Sang Ning simply sprawled on the ground.

At that moment, Shen Yi pushed open the door and entered. His gaze fell on Sang Ning the instant he stepped inside.

Seeing the woman sprawled weakly on the ground from torment, an indistinct feeling unexpectedly stirred in his chest.

The furrow between his brows deepened as he turned to Chu Xi, his displeasure evident. "Who gave you permission for this?"

"It’s her stubbornness," Chu Xi replied loftily, though her guilty eyes drifted downward. "Without applying special methods, how would she possibly confess?"

Shen Yi massaged his temples, waving Chu Xi off. "Enough. There’s no need for you here anymore. You can leave now."

His tone was sharp and authoritative. Chu Xi’s expression clouded, but she dared not linger, exiting without delay.

As the door swung nearly closed, Chu Xi caught sight of Shen Yi bending down to support Sang Ning himself, an expression of uncharacteristic concern on his face. It was her first time seeing such a look from Shen Yi.

With gritted teeth, Chu Xi slammed the door angrily.

She regretted not finishing Sang Ning off earlier. Pretty women—nothing good ever comes of them; all they know is how to seduce.

From Chu Xi’s vantage point, Shen Yi appeared to be offering support. But from Sang Ning’s perspective, it was clearly more of a forceful drag!

"Officer Shen, I beg you, just end this quickly! Whether I live or die, just decide!" Sang Ning murmured faintly after being dragged into a chair, her arms hanging limply by her sides.

Shen Yi crossed his arms, towering over her as he scrutinized her from above. "One last chance: cooperate and it’ll be lenient; resist and it’ll be severe."

Having been drained physically and emotionally, Sang Ning closed her eyes in exhaustion. She let out a despairing sigh and responded, "Officer, how many times do I have to say this? I drank the nutrient liquid. If you want me dead, just get it over with, instead of fabricating excuses."

"Yet, no trace of the nutrient liquid’s components was detected in your bloodstream," Shen Yi replied grimly.

Sang Ning’s eyes shot open, filled with confusion and disbelief.

What kind of joke was this? Was the vial she’d consumed in the desert nothing more than plain water?

Shen Yi observed Sang Ning closely. Her eyes were unwavering, with no sign of deceit.

Realizing continued questioning wouldn’t yield anything useful, he furrowed his brow and said, "We’ve been entrusted by Borun Group to recover the missing nutrient liquid vials. If we locate every last one, this issue will be resolved.

"But we’re still missing one. If you’re unwilling to cooperate, we’ll adhere to our agreement and transfer you to Borun Group for handling."

Sang Ning’s expression turned blank as she stared at Shen Yi—how could something as trivial as a vial of nutrient liquid cause this much fuss? Borun was a massive corporation; could they really be so desperate for one vial?

Unless this particular nutrient liquid contained secrets too scandalous to reveal.

After being forcibly injected with a vial of Healing Nutrient Liquid at the Federation Police Station, Sang Ning was delivered to Borun Group’s laboratory.

The laboratory was a sealed, transparent enclosure, surrounded by a crowd peering at her as if she were some kind of specimen.

Feeling exposed and uneasy, Sang Ning searched futilely for a corner to curl into.

In the end, she squatted down on the floor and buried her head in her arms.

The enclosed space consisted of a glass dome with excellent soundproofing. No sound from outside reached her ears.

As long as she couldn’t see or hear those people, she wouldn’t feel so humiliated.

Her head remained buried as she squatted there, unsure how much time had passed. When her legs were numb from crouching, someone abruptly yanked her upright.

She unexpectedly found herself falling against a rigid chest. Before she could see who it was, a sinister voice sounded above her head.

"So decisive and fearless when swinging a shovel at me, yet now you’re cowering like a timid kitten? Nothing to say?"

Sang Ning immediately deduced who it was. Unable to resist, she lowered her head with a sigh—judging by her luck, this encounter was inevitable.

A large hand encircled her nape. With controlled force, she was yanked back until her face was tilted upward, meeting a pair of dangerously dark eyes.

Li Juezhou’s head was wrapped tightly in bandages, giving him a ridiculous mummy-like appearance that almost made her laugh.

Sang Ning thought back on every sorrowful event in her life before finally stifling the laughter threatening to escape.

"If you’re so eager to laugh, go ahead. Laugh your fill," Li Juezhou sneered. "Because soon, you’ll have no reason to laugh."

Li Juezhou grasped her face harshly, squeezing until her features twisted in pain. Only when she whimpered did he loosen his grip.

"Professor Chu, start the procedure. I want to witness firsthand whether her claims about the nutrient liquid are as outrageous as she says they are—completely undetectable within her body!"

Li Juezhou reclined lazily on a corner sofa. A middle-aged man in a white lab coat entered.

Sang Ning was tied to a chair by the man’s assistants. Soon, she saw him draw nutrient liquid into a syringe and inject it directly into her arm.

After the initial vial was administered, Sang Ning’s body began shaking uncontrollably. But Li Juezhou showed no compassion.

He crossed his legs indolently and remarked unhurriedly, "Continue injecting. Fill her with twenty vials before conducting the scan."

Sang Ning’s body was restrained once more. Unable to even speak, she shook her head helplessly in silent plea.

Yet Li Juezhou seemed entirely at ease, studying her like a specimen in an experiment. Sang Ning could only watch helplessly as one vial after another was injected into her.

All of a sudden, a burning energy surged within her. Something buried deep within her soul seemed poised to break free.
