Chapter 128: Chapter 128: The Price Has Been Lowered
[That team at the bottom is definitely going to be Sang Ning and Shen Yi’s group. Black fans scoring them? Giving them 60 points would already be considered saintly.]
"Oh yeah!"
Sang Chuan and Song Shiye couldn’t contain their excitement and high-fived each other.
Spotting Qin Kai nearby, they eagerly pulled him in to spin around in a celebratory circle.
Forced into the hand-holding and spinning, Qin Kai couldn’t help but interject, "Don’t get too excited just yet. It’s still not certain that the winners will be our two groups."
Sang Chuan and Song Shiye were in high spirits, but Qin Kai’s words hit them like a bucket of cold water, and they immediately stopped their cheery movements.
[Does Qin Kai lack confidence in himself or in his fans? If a true fan doesn’t give their idol a 100/100 score, can they even be considered true fans?]
"Brother Kai, trust me, the perfect scores will definitely go to our two groups. If not, I’ll livestream eating shit!" Song Shiye declared with firm conviction, smacking his chest.
Sang Chuan nodded enthusiastically in agreement and couldn’t resist turning to glance smugly at Sang Ning’s direction. "Sis, what goes around comes around. You used to carry us on your back; now it’s our turn to carry you! Don’t worry, as long as there’s a prize for me, Sang Chuan, there will be one for you, Sang Ning!"
Sang Ning turned her face away, trying to suppress her irritation. Sang Chuan’s tongue-clicking and winking were just too cringe-worthy. One more look, and she might not be able to stop her fist from landing squarely on his face.
"Tch, acting so smug? Don’t come crying with envy when I win later!" Sang Chuan huffed, crossing his arms in protest.
Just as Sang Chuan was putting on a show of adorable arrogance, Qian Yang’s voice cut in suddenly, "Congratulations to Song Shiye’s group and Qin Kai’s group. Both of your groups have received perfect scores!"
The moment the words fell, applause erupted. The named groups exchanged delighted glances with their teammates.
"However, there’s only one first-place team!"
Qian Yang’s tone shifted like a plot twist, abruptly halting the applause mid-air. The guests’ clapping hands froze unceremoniously in mid-motion.
Everyone’s gaze immediately turned towards him. Qian Yang glanced at his cue card, then raised his hand and suddenly announced in a piercing voice, "Congratulations to Sang Ning’s group! With a score of 140 points, you are the first-place winners!"
A wave of baffled stares slowly shifted toward Sang Ning. Everyone’s pupils twitched in disbelief, too stunned to articulate a single word.
[I’m a little confused. The maximum score should only be 100 points—how did they get an extra 40?]
[I’m starting to suspect something about those two fans... Could they actually be true fans disguised as haters?!]
Sang Ning, oblivious to the drama, let her gaze wander, looking at the sky, the grass, the trees. She didn’t even catch what Qian Yang had just said.
As the weight of the other guests’ stares bore down on her heavily, Sang Ning suddenly felt inexplicably burdened. She turned her head only to see pairs of resentful eyes glaring holes into her.
Confused, she looked at her teammate, Shen Yi, who was equally dumbfounded. He leaned closer slightly and murmured hesitantly, "I think... we won first place."
Sang Ning: ?!
"Say that again!" Sang Ning’s voice shot up an octave, obviously caught off-guard by the news.
Although she was staring directly at Shen Yi, Qian Yang answered her first, "Congratulations to Sang Ning’s group! With 140 points, you’ve won first place!"
"Rigged! Rigged! Rigged!" Sang Chuan raised his arms dramatically and loudly protested.
Sang Ning, equally incredulous, stared fixedly at Qian Yang. "Director Qian, did you accidentally read an extra ’1’ by mistake?"
She had every reason to believe that Qian Yang, with his aging eyes, might’ve misread 40 points as 140.
Qian Yang faltered under her accusation and looked down at the cue card, double-checking it. Then he reaffirmed confidently, "No mistake—140 points."
"No mistake, no mistake at all!" Director Sun approached with both hands raised, his expression just as speechless as everyone else’s as he turned to Sang Ning.
"Those two black fans were very pleased with your presentation. The extra 40 points are bonus points they gave you," Director Sun explained. His words were met with silence.
[Bonus points? I’ve truly seen it all now.]
[Black fans are truly unconventional. Even true fans wouldn’t have thought of giving bonus points like this.]
Amid the other guests’ wails of anguish, Qian Yang presented the winning prize to Sang Ning and Shen Yi.
It was two necklaces, their surfaces a pure, serene cerulean resembling a starry nebula, with tiny scattered stardust embedded within.
The staff helped Sang Ning and Shen Yi put on the necklaces, while Qian Yang grinned as he studied them, nodding repeatedly in satisfaction.
Both Sang Ning and Shen Yi had elegantly refined necklines, and the necklaces rested perfectly at the center of their collarbones. Under the sunlight, the glow of the necklaces enhanced their sleek clavicles, making them appear even more captivating.
"Photographer, please give this stunning pair of beauties a close-up. These necklaces are original creations designed by our museum as cultural merch," Qian Yang directed the photographer to zoom in, while also urging Sang Ning and Shen Yi to strike various poses for the camera.
Annoyed by the exaggerated poses, Sang Ning leaned closer to Qian Yang and irritably asked, "Director Qian, are you giving us prizes or turning us into laborers? Why do I feel like you’re using us as free advertising props?"
Qian Yang chuckled awkwardly, scratching the back of his neck. "Well, we did rack up quite a bit of debt building the astronomy museum. Got to make up for it somewhere, right? With the looks you and Xiao Shen have, it’d be a waste not to take advantage!"
Sang Ning gave him a long, hard look. "At least ask us if we’re okay with cooperating for your promo first, will you?"
"If you play along nicely, and if the necklaces sell well, we can wave off your debt." Qian Yang flashed her a "V" sign with his fingers.
Shen Yi, clueless, thought Qian Yang was trying to be cute to Sang Ning. To his surprise, Sang Ning returned the "V" sign and confirmed, "You’re sure about waiving it?"
Qian Yang nodded firmly. "Absolutely sure!"
Sang Ning brightened instantly. If simply showcasing a necklace could erase her 20,000-yuan debt, she’d do it gladly.
With renewed vigor, she stepped forward, positioning herself in front of Shen Yi, and passionately addressed the camera, "Ladies and gentlemen, I have fantastic news for you all! Today, on your behalf, I managed to negotiate down the price of this top-tier necklace! Not 1,999 yuan! Not even 999 yuan! It’s available at an exclusive manager’s discount price!"
Raising her hand to gesture toward Qian Yang, her voice grew even more animated. "And now, Director Qian, please tell our audience what your manager’s discount price is!"
Flustered by her bold energy, Qian Yang stammered, "Ninety..."
But before he could finish, Sang Ning cut him off with a flourish.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the price is set! Manager’s discount price: 99 yuan! It’s a deal so good, you can’t possibly lose! Owning this necklace is as good as owning a top idol, Shen Yi!"
"To all the Shen Yi fans out there, get your wallets ready and show your idol the support and prestige he deserves!"
Forced to stand quietly as a prop in the background, Shen Yi lowered his head in sheer embarrassment.
Ask him what was happening? Sang Ning had lost her mind—that’s all he could say! And he wanted no part in her shenanigans!
