Chapter 356: Yi Shu

A Lu Qian pushed open the door of the small hut, walked in and waited for Xu Xiang to close the door before pushing away a pile of straw on the ground. After a few seconds, she saw a door on the floor.

A Lu Qian opened the door, walked down the stone steps, and said, "Close the door."

Walking down the stairs, Xu Xiang pulled down the door and waited for a while until her eyes adjusted to the dim corridor. After seeing clearly, she followed behind A Lu Qian. Along the stone walls of the corridor, there were torches made from the glow in the dark liquid she had given him earlier.

They walked in silence for a while before Xu Xiang saw the end of the corridor. As soon as she walked out of the long corridor, Xu Xiang saw many tables in the spacious place. She looked around and saw many bookshelves lined the walls. There are also corridors on the other sides of the wall.

A Lu Qian looked at her and said, "This is the base of my team. All the information we collect so far is processed and stored here."

After speaking, he walked to the bookshelf on the wall. While waiting, Xu Xiang looked at the children who were working behind the tables. They looked at her curiously as she observed them.

One of the children walked up to her and asked, "Are you Miss Xu Xiang?"

Xu Xiang looked at him with a slight smile and said, "Yes."

The boy stared at her for a long time before saying, "Our Leader said that you have helped him a lot before. If you need our help, please let us know at any time. As long as your request does not violate our regulations and does not harm our Leader, we will help you."

As soon as these words came out, all the children looked at Xu Xiang at the same time. Under their gazes, Xu Xiang felt the pressure from those who had been stained with blood.

She raised her eyebrows slightly, looked at the boy in front of her, and asked, "What is your name?"

The boy glanced at A Lu Qian, then at her again, and said, "We have long since abandoned our names, but you can call me Yi Shu."

Hearing his name, Xu Xiang looked at the boy with great interest and asked, "Yi Shu? You chose a very interesting name."

Yi Shu nodded to her and said calmly: "Because our Leader rescued us from that hell and he lit our way, so we also want to be the hope of other children. I heard from the Fourth Young Master that Dawn is a symbol of hope."

"Fourth Young Master? You mean A Lu Zhi?" Xu Xiang asked.

"Yes."

After Yi Shu told Xu Xiang what he wanted to say, he nodded to her, and then went back to do his task. Xu Xiang stood where she was, rubbed her chin, and looked at the children thoughtfully.

Not long after, A Lu Qian came back with a few pieces of paper and said, "This is the information we have about those people."

Xu Xiang took the report in his hand and carefully read the information in it. After reading the report, she returned the report to A Lu Qian and thought: ’No wonder I felt that familiar aura from them. Turns out they were cannibals.’

Seeing her lost in thought, A Lu Qian walked away and put the report back on the bookshelf. When he came back, Xu Xiang looked at him and asked, "What are your plans? Those people who dare to come to this village must have ulterior motives."

A Lu Qian nodded and said, "We are already investigating their motives for coming to our village. My first guess was that they came for the children. But after learning that there are seven clans among the barbarians, I investigated them again. They are not from the same clan as those who kidnapped children and women. So they must not be here for the children or women."

Xu Xiang pondered for a while the information she had just read, and asked, "Have you investigated the other barbarian clans?"

"Yes. Although the seven major clans have different leaders, there is one king who rules the seven major clans. The king is called the tribal chief, and his name is Ka Huo Long." A Lu Qian replied calmly.

He thought for a while, and added: "When I was digging Ka Huo Long’s information, I found some interesting information about him."

Xu Xiang looked at him, smiled slightly, and said, "You rarely become interested in something. What did you find?"

A Lu Qian stared at her for a few seconds, and said, "This Ka Huo Long has some connections with the pavilion master of the Moon Pavilion, and the right prime minister of the Shang Empire, Cao Qinbo."

Hearing what he said, Xu Xiang thought for a while and said, "This information is indeed very interesting. After I saw those people twice, I’m sure these barbarians are very proud and won’t bow their heads except for their leaders. Their willingness to cooperate with Moon Pavilion and Cao Qinbo must have secured some very lucrative benefits for them."

"Yes. Unfortunately, we haven’t found out what their agreement is. Whenever we find clues, the people from Moon Pavilion will destroy them before we can investigate more deeply." A Lu Qian said with a slight frown.

Looking at his rare frown expression, Xu Xiang could imagine how frustrated he was. She thought for a while and said, "I think I can help you a little bit."

Hearing her words, A Lu Qian looked at her, waiting for her to continue. Xu Xiang looked around and walked to a long table, followed by A Lu Qian.

Standing by the table, she looked at A Lu Qian and said, "What I want to give you can only stay in your team. If it leaks out, all losses caused thereby shall be borne by you. Will you accept this condition?"
