Chapter 318: It’s A Pity That The Plan Failed
As soon as her feet touched the ground, Xu Xiang took advantage of the time for the three of them to raise their heads, and she rushed forward.
Clang!
Xu Xiang swung down the two laser swords with all her strength, and directly cutted the masked man’s sword in the middle. The masked man was surprised when he saw his sword broken by the laser swords, and he froze for a second.
Seeing the opportunity, Xu Xiang turned her body in circular motion, and she kicked the masked man in the chest, knocking him back a few meters away.
Bang!
The masked man fell to the ground, coughing out blood. "Cough! Cough!"
This series of actions, from cutting off the masked man’s sword to kicking him flying, only took three seconds in total.
Whush~!
Before Xu Xiang could stand steadily, two swords came from her left and right. She crouched down and swung her laser swords, severing two pairs of legs at the same time.
"Argh!"
"Ugh!"
The two masked men lost their legs and fell directly to the ground, groaning in pain. Without giving them time to react, Xu Xiang chopped off their heads, and killed them instantly.
In the distance, Huan Yun opened her eyes wide, looking at the battlefield, with eyes full of horror. She didn’t know that Xu Xiang’s combat effectiveness was so good. For a long time, she always thought that her specialty was science and weapons technology. As for combat, she had never seen Xu Xiang trained except in their first year at military academy.
’Since she is so good at fighting, why didn’t she join the combat specialist department? Could it be... because of Senior Xu Xuan?’
Huan Yun watched helplessly as Xu Xiang killed six masked men in a few minutes. Every move is fatal and designed to take their life. Oddly enough, Xu Xiang always cut off their heads. When her eyes met with Xu Xiang’s cold eyes full of murderous intent, Huan Yun instinctively took a few steps back until her back touched the dead tree behind her.
A second later, Xu Xiang looked away and continued to kill, while Huan Yun was already dripping with cold sweat and trembling all over. She hugged herself, not daring to look at the mutilated corpses in the distance. At this moment, Xu Xiang looked more terrifying than those post-apocalyptic zombies and mutants.
Three minutes later, Xu Xiang flicked her laser swords, and blood spattered to the ground. Seeing that there was no blood on the sword anymore, she turned off the laser swords and put them back in her space.
Looking around at the cluttered ground of mutilated bodies, she walked to her dagger. She picked up the dagger and wiped the blood off it with the corpse’s clothes. After cleaning her dagger, she put the dagger back into space and walked towards Mu Yucheng.
Seeing her coming, Mu Yucheng walked towards her. He didn’t speak, and examined her body carefully. Seeing that she was not injured and all the blood on her body was from the enemies, he breathed a sigh of relief and asked, "Are you alright?"
Xu Xiang smiled and said, "I’m fine. Thanks to you, my martial arts has improved by leaps and bounds. If I had met these people with my past skills, I would have died within minutes."
Hearing what he said, Mu Yucheng frowned and said, "Don’t talk nonsense. Let’s go."
The two of them walked towards Hu Wenfeng and Huan Yun, and waited for Ying Shiyi. Ten minutes later, Ying Shiyi came over and said, "I didn’t find anything on them."
Having expected this result, Xu Xiang was not disappointed. She looked at the mutilated corpses and asked, "Should we burn the corpses?"
Before anyone could answer her, they saw the city gate open from the inside. Seeing the soldiers coming out of the city, they looked at each other and quickly put on their wind boots. By the time the soldiers found the mutilated bodies, the five of them were already far away.
Looking at the mutilated corpses, the captain frowned slightly. After a moment of silence, he calmly said, "Search the corpses."
"Yes, Captain." The soldiers answered, and quickly searched the bodies.
After a while, a soldier yelled: "Captain, come and see this."
The captain walked up to the soldier and asked, "What did you find?"
The soldier pushed the corpse away and said, "There are some kind of symbols here."
The captain squatted down and looked at the few symbols written in blood. He thought for a second and said, "Don’t tell anyone about this."
The soldier saw his serious expression and said, "Yes, Captain."
Standing up, the captain raised his head and said, "Clean up the corpse and the surrounding area."
At his command, the soldiers piled the mutilated bodies into a small mound and burned them. While the bodies were being burned, the soldiers went to take sand and pour it on the ground to clean up the blood.
Seeing that everything was already cleaned up, the captain pointed to four soldiers and said, "The four of you stay here and clean up the ashes later. The rest of you, go back to the garrison."
"Yes, Captain." The soldiers accepted the command and left.
The captain then walked up to the city wall and blew a whistle. After a while, a white dove flew towards him. The captain took out a small piece of bamboo, carved something on it, and tied the piece of bamboo to the dove’s leg. After he tied the bamboo securely, the dove flew away.
The captain looked at the disappearing dove and murmured softly: "It’s a pity that the plan failed."
After Xu Xiang and the others flew for two hours, the scenery changed a lot. The verdant green has turned into a desolate and barren land, and those who left the imperial capital city lost their smiles. Under the cover of the moonless night, Xu Xiang and the others flew for another two hours, and only landed when the sky changed color.
