Chapter 100: His Responsibility

While Xu Xiang was still thinking about the reason why Tu Han and Nalan Tuya poisoned her with Gu poison, A Lu Yu had already lifted the curtain for her. She nodded at him, and walked into the tent. Stepping into the tent, Xu Xiang saw Ha Tai surrounded by his other four sons and several elders.

Before she could speak, Ha Tai had already looked at her, smiled and said, "Miss Xu Xiang, please come inside."

Xu Xiang nodded at him and asked, "Chieftain Ha Tai, how are you feeling?"

"Please, just call me He Tai. Thanks to you, I can live to this day. I will host a banquet to thank Miss Xu Xiang later." Ha Tai said with a smile on his pale face.

Hearing his polite and grateful words, Xu Xiang formally saluted him and said, "Thank you for your hospitality. However, you survived thanks to A Lu Da and A Lu Ge and not entirely because of me."

Ha Tai raised his eyebrows and asked, "Oh? Is that so?"

Knowing that A Lu Da and the others didn’t tell him the reason why she saved him, she just smiled and didn’t say much. If he wanted to know, he could ask his sons. Besides, she is not qualified to tell him about this matter.

When Xu Xiang and Ha Tai were talking, A Lu Yu noticed that the faces of the four elders changed when they saw her. He watched them for a while, then looked at Xu Xiang with interest. After Xu Xiang finished talking with his father, A Lu Yu walked to the bedside.

He looked at his father’s pale and thin face, and said, "Father, you should rest more since you just woke up."

Ha Tai looked at the gentle face of his second son and said, "You are right. I need to rest and recover as soon as possible."

After finishing speaking, he looked at the six elders and said, "I’m sorry, I haven’t been able to entertain a few elders for the time being."

Ba’a Tar looked at him and said, "Since the Chieftain needs to rest, then I won’t disturb you anymore."

Ha Tai nodded at him, and said, "Thank you, Fourth Elder for visiting me."

Ba’a Tar nodded to the other elders, and then left with the fifth elder. Te Mu Lun saw him leaving with Qi Nu’a, looked at Ha Tai and said, "Then I will take my leave too. Get well soon, Chieftain."

After speaking, he glanced at the other three elders and they left together. Xu Xiang, who was standing on the side, looked at their backs, and a murderous intent flashed in her cold eyes.

After they left, only Xu Xiang, Ha Tai and his five sons were left in the tent. A Lu Da looked at her and said, "Xu Xiang, can you please help me check my father’s condition?"

Hearing his request, Xu Xiang looked at him and nodded. Then she sits down in the chair by the bed and puts her finger on Ha Tai’s wrist to feel his pulse. After a few minutes of silence, she withdrew her hand and smiled at Ha Tai.

"Congratulations, Chieftain Ha Tai. The poison effect in your body has dissipated. What you need to do now is to get enough rest, don’t worry too much, and pay attention to your health. I have already told A Lu Da the detailed instructions on how to restore your body’s condition." She calmly explained.

Ha Tai carefully looked at the young woman sitting beside his bed with a smile on his face. Xu Xiang noticed Ha Tai’s probing gaze, but she didn’t show any reaction.

She calmly stood up and looked at A Lu Da and said, "Can I have a word with you? Just the two of us."

Seeing her serious face, A Lu Da knew that she wanted him to fulfill the promise he made at Nalan Tuya’s tent. He nodded at her, then looked at his father and said, "Father, I’ll go out for a while. You should get some sleep and don’t move around yet."

He looked at A Lu Zhi and asked, "Fourth Younger Brother, can you help father get his breakfast?"

A Lu Zhi nodded and walked out of the tent. Seeing that the three younger brothers were all there, A Lu Da signaled them with his eyes before walking out with Xu Xiang.

When the door curtain lowered behind the two of them, Ha Tai looked at A Lu Yu and asked, "Is there something you are hiding from me? Have you made an agreement with Miss Xu Xiang to let her treat my illness?"

A Lu Yu smiled at his father and helplessly said, "Father, you are really amazing. We really can’t hide anything from you. How do you know?"

Ha Tai glanced at him and said, "If I don’t even notice these trivial things, how can I become the Chieftain of the Xiuluo tribe?"

Sighing, he asked, "Tell me, what did you promise her?"

The three brothers looked at each other for a moment, before A Lu Ge said, "Father, when Xu Xiang brought you back to life, it’s because I begged her to help you. However, she didn’t ask for anything in return."

A Lu Qian thought for a second and said, "I heard that my eldest brother made a deal with her for her help regarding a poisoned water source and the antidotes for you and our people."

A Lu Yu nodded, and added: "Just now, before A Lu Ge find us and informed us about you, my eldest brother promised to do one thing for Xu Xiang, hoping that she would help Nalan Tuya."

Hearing what his three sons said, Ha Tai shook his head and said, "I’m really dragging all of you down. If it wasn’t for me, your eldest brother wouldn’t have to promise her anything or make a deal with her."

A Lu Yu looked at his father’s anxious face, and calmly said, "Father, you don’t have to blame yourself. In fact, I think the reason why my eldest brother did all of these is because of his responsibility as the next Chieftain of the Xiuluo tribe and your son, and also because of his identity as Nalan Tuya’s fiancé."
