Chapter 305: Cosmos Signal
Dina felt triumphant as Alexander stepped into the hospital room, his expression unreadable. He moved with purpose, carefully assisting her onto the wheelchair. He’d agreed to all her conditions without protest... a personal victory she relished.
For her, this was a promising sign, and she couldn’t wait to immerse herself in the luxury of being Rain Lancaster.
Her main mission was clear: make Alexander despise her enough to want a divorce. But that didn’t mean she couldn’t indulge herself along the way. The thought of spending his wealth and basking in the privileges of being Mrs. Lancaster brought a wicked smile to her lips.
She was ready to enjoy every moment of playing this role, even if it meant stealing a bit of Alexander’s attention for herself. For now, she would play her part to perfection.
To be honest, she found it so weird. Why would his father and Michael want her to divorce Alexander when she believed it would be advantageous not to? She understood why Michael might want it, but why would her father want it too?
Alexander assisted her and never left her side. She had male and female nurses with her, but those two were actually Michael’s eyes on her.
"Where are we going?" she asked while inside the moving car.
"We’re going to the penthouse, Rain, to have some privacy for now while you heal. You might feel overwhelmed if I bring you straight to the mansion. We’ll do that after a few days of settling in," he commented.
"I see..." she replied plainly, wearing a satisfied smirk. "I’m sorry, I can’t remember you," she added with a sigh.
"It’s fine. I’m sure you’ll remember everything soon. If you can’t, then I’ll make you. Rest for now," he replied coldly. For some reason, Dina suddenly felt uneasy.
They soon arrived at the penthouse, and once they were inside, her eyes widened. Men were waiting inside, and they instantly grabbed the two companions she had brought.
"What’s the meaning of this?!" she burst out, but her heart started thumping hard as she looked at Alexander, whose face was so dark right now.
"Bring those two to the basement and make them talk by any means. If they won’t, then you know what to do," he coldly instructed, his eyes lingering on Dina.
"Now... let’s make you remember everything you know, shall we? We can do this the easy way or the hard way. Your choice," he grunted, his eyes deadly. Dina’s body began to shiver.
"You, what are you doing? I am your wife, and-"
"Cut the bullshit already. I know you’re not my wife, so tell me where she is right now," he demanded.
Dina’s eyes widened as men approached her and pinned her down.
"Stop this! Why are you doing this to me? You said you’re my husband!" she screamed, trying her best to keep her act together. She felt a sudden stinging pain. They were taking her blood and even hair samples. Her eyes widened in horror.
Alexander turned around and instructed, "Bring her to another vacant room in the basement and make sure she talks. You know what to do."
"No! Stop!" Dina screamed in panic, but she was dragged by the men into the basement.
Dina’s mind raced as she struggled against the men dragging her away. The act she had so carefully maintained was crumbling, and Alexander’s piercing gaze left her paralyzed with fear.
This wasn’t how things were supposed to go. Michael and her father had assured her she’d be safe playing the part of Rain. They hadn’t warned her that Alexander would be this ruthless.
Alexander, however, stood still, his hands clenched into fists. His patience had run out, and the sight of the impostor in his wife’s place fueled his fury. "Get every piece of information you can from her," he ordered coldly, his voice devoid of emotion. "And keep me updated. We don’t have time to waste."
"Alexander!" Dina screamed, her voice filled with desperation as she was pulled toward the elevator leading to the basement. "I don’t know what you’re talking about! I am Rain! You have to believe me!"
Alexander didn’t even flinch. His back remained turned to her. Dina’s cries grew faint as the elevator doors closed, leaving Alexander alone in the lavish penthouse living room. His jaw tightened, his mind racing with possibilities.
He grabbed his phone and made another call. "Clifford, is there any update?"
"Yes, I’m on it. I’m intercepting some communications, and I sent it to you and your team. Wait... This..." Dion suddenly trailed off.
Alexander grabbed his tablet and checked the links Dion had sent.
"I found her! I found the right car!" Dion burst out, and Alexander’s eyes lit up.
"Good work, Dion," he weakly commented.
"Don’t get too happy yet because there’s still a problem. It will take me some time to locate the signal. Damn it... I’m having a hard time because they’re using Cosmos Signal," Clifford cursed under his breath.
Cosmos was a big company that was a top competitor to his own. He knew this would strike a great blow to him later, as he was well aware of Cosmos’s capabilities. Soon, they would figure out he was behind intercepting their system. But it didn’t matter; he had to find his wife no matter what.
"Their technical team is already aware that someone is hacking into their system, and they’re trying everything to block me and throw me off. Also, they’re tracking my location right now, Xander. You have to do something, or I might compromise the facility since I’m using the signal from here. I can handle this, but make sure Elysium Biotech Institute isn’t implicated," Clifford remarked.
"I’ll have your back," Alexander replied. Right then, he instructed his men to jam the network so it couldn’t be traced back to Elysium Biotech Institute.
"Damn... I have no choice but to use the internet and computers here since they’re the only capable electronics on this island. Rain would kill me if I compromised the institute," Clifford remarked, which somehow lightened Alexander’s mood as he imagined Rain scolding both him and Clifford.
"You need to find her fast," Alexander said weakly, his voice tight with frustration.
"Don’t worry, I’m on it!" Clifford replied confidently on the other end of the line.
Just then, Alexander was interrupted by one of his men who approached him quickly. "Boss, we’ve got the DNA result. The woman is Dina Clayton."
Alexander’s grip tightened on the edge of the table, his knuckles turning white. His jaw clenched as he processed the confirmation. "Dina Clayton..." he repeated, his voice low and seething.
