Surprise Marriage to a Billionaire
Chapter 290: Your Happiest Moments

Chapter 290: Your Happiest Moments

At Ben and Melanie’s villa on the Sinclair Winery and Vineyard estate, Melanie let out a long sigh as she waited for Ben to return. Days had passed since their wedding, and while Ben had kept her busy with trips to beautiful spots in town, one thing remained unresolved... they still hadn’t consummated their marriage.

She could see how considerate he was, always ensuring she felt safe and cared for, but she also noticed the restraint in his actions. Melanie couldn’t shake the feeling that Ben was holding back, his every move calculated to avoid crossing a line. She felt guilty watching him struggle, knowing that his hesitation came from wanting to respect her boundaries.

’This isn’t fair to him,’ she thought. ’I need to show him that I’m ready.’

With a determined breath, she stood up from the bed and grabbed one of Rain’s wedding gifts... a set of lingerie. Melanie selected the most daring piece, slipping it on quickly without glancing at the mirror, afraid she might second-guess herself and retreat to the safety of her usual pyjamas.

She climbed back into bed, pulling the quilt up to cover herself completely. Her face flushed crimson, and her hands clutched the quilt tightly as she bit her lower lip.

’I can do this,’ she told herself, willing her courage to rise. Tonight, she was determined to take the first step toward breaking down the invisible wall between them.

Melanie’s heart raced as she heard the sound of Ben’s footsteps approaching the room. She squeezed her eyes shut, her hands gripping the quilt tightly as if it could somehow shield her from her own nervousness. *Why am I so nervous? He’s my husband,* she thought, biting her lip harder. But the reality of taking the first step felt more daunting than she had imagined.

The door creaked open, and Ben entered the room with his usual calm demeanor.

"Melanie?" His voice was soft, laced with concern. "Why are you still awake? You’ve had a long day."

Peeking out from under the quilt, Melanie gave him a shy smile. "I... couldn’t sleep."

Ben tilted his head, a hint of a smile playing on his lips. "Something on your mind?" he asked, sitting on the edge of the bed. His hand reached out to brush a strand of hair from her face, his touch gentle and unassuming.

Melanie’s cheeks burned. She clutched the quilt tighter for a moment, summoning every ounce of courage she had. "Ben..." she began, her voice barely above a whisper. "I... I want us to... stop holding back. You don’t have to be so careful with me."

Ben’s eyes widened slightly as the meaning behind her words sank in. "Melanie, I don’t want you to feel pressured-"

"I’m not," she interrupted, her voice firmer now. Slowly, she let the quilt slide down, revealing the delicate lingerie she had chosen. "I want this. I want us."

Melanie watched as Ben froze for a moment, his Adam’s apple bobbing as he gulped. His gaze softened, filled with concern and restraint, and she offered him a timid smile before shifting to sit upright on the bed.

"I’m scared I might hurt you," Ben murmured, his voice low and uncertain.

Melanie reached for his hand, her fingers brushing against his as she spoke softly. "I’ve been scared my whole life, Ben, but I don’t want to be afraid anymore. The doctor assured us that it’s okay. I’ve taken the medicine, and if anything happens, we can call the medics immediately. You don’t have to worry."

His hesitation was evident in the way his eyes searched hers, as if he were looking for a sign to reassure him. She didn’t wait for him to overthink it. Leaning forward, Melanie pressed her lips gently against his, pouring all her emotions into the kiss, her trust, her longing, and her determination to face this step together.

Ben responded after a moment, his hands cupping her face tenderly, as though she were the most fragile thing in the world. For the first time, Melanie felt the walls of uncertainty between them begin to crumble.

Melanie had never felt this way before... the overwhelming feeling of being both loved and desired. It was all there in Ben’s eyes, a raw intensity that made her heart race.

As he slowly removed his shirt, she gasped, her eyes widening at the sight of the countless scars etched across his body. Without hesitation, she gently pulled him down onto the bed, her fingertips tracing the marks with reverence.

"What age were you when you got these scars?" she asked softly, her voice filled with both curiosity and sorrow. Leaning in, she began to plant gentle kisses on each scar, as if trying to erase the pain they represented.

Ben hesitated, his gaze clouded with shadows of the past. "I can’t remember exactly," he admitted, his voice thick with emotion. "The syndicate I grew up with... they’d hit me, punish me whenever I failed a mission. Some of these scars are from training... training to be a killer. I..." He trailed off, unable to continue, the weight of his memories too much to share in detail.

Melanie’s lips brushed against his chest as she whispered, "It’s all in the past now. These scars... they’re a part of your story, but they don’t define you. They shaped you into the man you are today, and that’s someone I love."

Her words seemed to lift a burden from his heart. Ben let out a shaky breath, his hand moving to cradle her face gently. In that moment, surrounded by tenderness, he felt something he had rarely known... peace.

Meanwhile, at Mystveil Mountain, Sanya lay sprawled on the bed, utterly spent, trying to catch her breath. William, as energetic as ever, pulled her close, their bare bodies pressed together as he hugged her tightly.

"I shouldn’t have told you I’m on my fertile days," she murmured, her face twisting in a mix of exhaustion and regret.

William chuckled, his deep voice laced with amusement. "I thought you were challenging your husband’s stamina when you said that. I can’t let my wife be disappointed, so I’m just giving it my all."

Sanya groaned, covering her face with a pillow as her cheeks turned crimson. "I wasn’t challenging you! I was just being honest."

"Well, honesty is appreciated," he teased, planting a playful kiss on her shoulder. "But you can’t blame me for being thorough, can you?"

She couldn’t help but laugh, though she still swatted at him half-heartedly. "William, you’re impossible."

"And you’re irresistible," he countered, pulling her closer. "Now, rest. You’ll need your strength for tomorrow."

Sanya glared at him, though a small smile tugged at her lips. "You’re incorrigible."

"Only because I love you," he replied, his tone soft and genuine.

"Ah, it’s because you’re in a hurry to get me pregnant," she scoffed, narrowing her eyes at him.

William leaned in, capturing her lips in a tender kiss before pulling back with a mischievous grin. "Well, guilty as charged in that accusation, Your Honor," he teased, his tone playful but warm.

Sanya rolled her eyes, though her lips twitched into a small smile. William took a deep breath and hummed thoughtfully, his hand gently tracing soothing circles on her back. "But don’t worry," he added with a smirk, "I’ll give you some time off. You’re still sore, after all."

She let out an exasperated laugh, burying her face in his chest. "Well, I’m honestly excited to be a mother too. But it scares me at the same time," Sanya confessed, her voice soft. "I grew up without a mother, so I’m not confident I can be a good one in the future."

William’s expression softened as he gently stroked her hair. "Don’t worry," he murmured, his voice steady and reassuring. "I’m sure you’ll be a great mother. And I’ll be with you every step of the way. We’ll figure it out together."

Sanya smiled faintly, her heart warming at his words. "How many kids do you want to have?" she asked curiously, tilting her head to look up at him.

William’s eyes lit up with excitement. "I honestly want a big family, Sanya. Two kids like me and my brother always felt too small. Maybe five children will do," he said with enthusiasm. "Three girls and two boys!"

Sanya froze, her eyes widening as she gulped. "F-Five?" she stammered.

"Of course," William continued, completely missing her reaction. "Imagine the chaos and laughter in the house. It’ll be perfect!"

Sanya buried her face back into his chest with a groan. "You’re going to be the death of me, William."

He chuckled, pulling her closer. "Nah, I’m going to be the reason for your happiest moments. You’ll see."

Then there was a terse silence before he released a deep sigh. "I just hope Dad will still be with us, Sanya, when that time comes and watch as we build our family."

Sanya’s heart ached at the quiet vulnerability in his voice. She shifted closer to him, her hand gently resting on his chest. "He’s still here, William. He’s still fighting. And we’ll make sure that he’s part of every moment when we start our family. He’ll be there with us."
