Chapter 257: Chilling Orders
Dina smiled with satisfaction, watching Sanya lying unconscious on the floor. Michael had been generous enough to supply her with the men she needed to pull off the abduction.
She hadn’t been able to get to Rain directly, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t hurt someone close to her.
Sanya was an easy target and Dina intended to make Rain pay by destroying her best friend first. The thought filled her with immense satisfaction. She had been itching to put that arrogant girl in her place... someone who foolishly thought she could stand on Dina’s level, even dare to fight her.
With one last look, she smirked. Rain would be devastated once she realized what had happened to Sanya. It was exactly what she wanted, a way to inflict pain on Rain without having to lay a hand on her directly. This was her final act of revenge before disappearing out of the country.
Dina stepped back, her heels clicking against the cold floor as her men bound Sanya’s wrists and ankles. She was unconscious now, but Dina knew the fear would sink in the moment she woke up, alone and helpless.
One of the men turned to her. "She’s secured. What do you want us to do with her now?"
Dina’s smile grew colder. "Take her to the old ship. I want her hidden and keep her there until I decide what’s next. Also, make sure you get rid of all of her belongings."
She knew Rain was a capable woman; if she found out Sanya had been abducted, she could easily enlist Alexander’s help. Dina had to be meticulous.
The man nodded, lifting Sanya effortlessly and carrying her toward a waiting van. Rain might have thought herself safe, but she’d been foolish to believe Dina would just let things end without retribution. Now, she would feel the sting of loss, the helplessness she had been enduring.
"Killing her is not the goal," Dina murmured to herself, her eyes gleaming with malice. "I want Sanya to live, but I want her to experience something so horrendous that she will curse Rain for everything she goes through. The pain, the betrayal... it will all lead back to her."
"I did what you wanted! You promised to let me go!" Sanya’s stepfather shouted as Michael’s men dragged him before Dina. Desperation twisted his face, but she had no sympathy left for a man who would betray his own stepdaughter. He was drowning in debt from his gambling, and Dina knew his greed had made him easy to manipulate.
Dina’s lips curled into a cold smile. She had seen enough of Michael’s power to know he could erase anyone without a trace. "Promises," she said slowly, her voice icy, "are for those who haven’t crossed me."
With a dismissive wave, she nodded to Michael’s men. "Get rid of him."
Satisfied, she turned toward the waiting car that would take her to the abandoned ship where Sanya was being held. It wasn’t long before she arrived. She stepped inside, her gaze hard as she looked over the men Michael provided her to ensure her plans went smoothly. Sanya lay unconscious on the floor, and Dina’s face darkened with anticipation.
"How long until she wakes?" she asked one of the guards.
"In about fifteen minutes, give or take," he replied.
Dina’s smile was sharp. "Perfect. Tell everyone to be ready. I want her to feel the fear of knowing exactly why she’s here. Make sure she understands this is all because of her loyalty to Rain Lancaster."
She cast a steely glance at the men who surrounded her, their eagerness visible as they waited for her instructions. "Remember," she warned, her tone lethal, "Sanya lives. If anything happens to her, you all answer to me. I want her to walk away from this with a memory that will haunt her."
The men nodded, a chorus of "Yes, ma’am" echoing around the room.
As she turned to leave, a thought struck her, and she paused, looking back at Sanya’s still form. Perhaps leaving so soon would rob her of the satisfaction she wanted. She spoke up again. "Actually, I think I’ll stay and make sure she suffers. That might be... enjoyable."
One of the men gestured to a secluded spot at the edge of the cabin. "There’s a place over here where you can watch everything," he suggested, grinning.
Dina’s lips curled into a twisted smile. "Perfect. Lead the way," she replied, anticipation lighting up her gaze as she followed the man toward the other side of the cabin.
Once settled in the shadowed corner, she had a clear view of Sanya’s unconscious form lying in the middle of the dimly lit room.
As Dina watched, she thought of how Rain would crumble, believing she was responsible for her friend’s suffering. Michael’s men moved around the room, preparing to follow Dina’s chilling orders, their crude laughter echoing off the walls.
"This one’s just my type!" a burly man growled, a sick grin spreading across his face. "I’m first!"
They exchanged dark glances, each sizing the other up, eager for their chance. But they waited, watching Sanya as she finally stirred, her eyelids fluttering open to an unfamiliar, dimly lit room. As awareness seeped in, confusion turned to dread, and her pulse raced.
"Where am I? Who are you? What do you want?!" she gasped, scrambling backward until her back hit the cold wall. Her voice broke as she screamed, "Stay away from me!"
"Stay away?" one of them mocked, laughing as he moved closer. "Oh, sweetheart, that’s not an option." His gaze roamed over her, eyes gleaming with malice. "We’ve been told to make you scream...so why don’t you call for your friend? Call for Rain Lancaster."
Sanya’s chest heaved as she tried to shrink into the wall. She felt hands reach for her, and with a burst of desperation, she shoved them away. "Stop! Don’t touch me!" she shouted, voice cracking.
One of the men chuckled, cold and menacing, and leaned in closer. "You’re here because of Rain Lancaster. And we’re going to make sure you remember that." His hand roughly gripped her chin, tilting her face toward him, forcing her to look into his eyes.
Dina’s smile widened as she watched Sanya struggle, fear flashing in her eyes. Helpless and cornered, Sanya fought to push the hands away, her voice raw with screams.
"That’s right," Dina sneered, crossing her arms as she took in the scene. "You think you can cross me and get away with it? Think again." Her laughter echoed coldly, filling the room with a twisted satisfaction.
"That’s what happens when you choose the wrong side," Dina said, her tone laced with venom.
