Surprise! I've Transmigrated Again -
Chapter 307 ⤞ My Fists Are Getting Harder
Kazuma and Aqua stared in shock at Beatrice, a Spirit from another world, who had suddenly appeared before them.
This defied everything they knew — when Adam gained the ability to travel between worlds, Aqua had explicitly stated that no living beings could cross between them. Their surprise was warranted.
Megumin and Darkness, however, drew a different conclusion. They assumed Adam had used magic to summon a Spirit from another world, inspired by rumors of someone in a distant land who could summon otherworldly beings for battle.
What truly stunned the two women was that this Spirit not only took human form but could communicate with them.
And here she was, sipping tea with perfect elegance!
Though it's worth noting that the "rumored" summoner was actually another of Aqua's transported heroes.
Watching their reactions, Adam was puzzled by their astonishment.
"Beatrice, shouldn't you be the surprised one? There's a genuine deity right in front of you!
Are you following Kazuma's example, showing no reverence for Aqua, the Goddess of Water? Or have your experiences in Danmachi made divine presence seem ordinary?
Don't misunderstand, though — Aqua may be foolish, but she's different from Danmachi's gods. She wields true divine power and holds genuine Divine Authority."
A thought occurred to Adam.
"Hey, Aqua."
"What is it?"
"You can resurrect humans endlessly, but what about a Spirit without a physical body?"
This was crucial — Beatrice, being a Spirit, lacked a human form. Aqua's Authority could supposedly "resurrect someone completely from a single grain of ash with the power of two Goddesses combined", but would this apply to an incorporeal Spirit like Beatrice?
Would her divine powers as a Goddess still work?
Though Adam would never let Beatrice be in danger, he'd feel more at ease if Aqua could resurrect her.
However, Aqua's response wasn't encouraging.
"Well..." She scratched her head with a vacant expression, "Sorry, probably not."
"Hey! Aren't you supposed to be a Goddess?! Be useful for something, you useless Goddess!" Kazuma snapped.
He had expected Aqua to confidently declare it wouldn't be a problem, not prove herself useless yet again.
"Kazuma, you idiot! I may be a Goddess, but even I can't guarantee whether a Spirit without a physical body can be resurrected!" She fired back, her divine authority challenged.
Her status as a Goddess was absolute.
"It's fine, Kazuma-kun, don't worry about it." Adam remained unfazed.
This was within his expectations. The answer didn't matter — he would never let Beatrice get hurt.
No one could!
Next came the introductions.
"Beatrice, please introduce yourself to your new companions."
"Um..." The tsundere great Spirit hesitated.
Their earlier interactions had shown these humans to be far too noisy for her quiet nature. Still, to please Adam, she made an effort.
"Betty is Betty, I suppose. I am a Great Spirit of Yin, and Adam is my contractor... that is all."
Brief and distant — the tsundere Spirit's typical way with strangers.
But Adam was satisfied. During her Danmachi days, she would have dismissed humans as mere insects.
He added, "Well, as you can see, Beatrice is a great Spirit of Yin, specializing in Support Magic. You'll witness her combat abilities soon enough."
"Ohhh! A Magic user!"
Kazuma and the others brightened.
Despite Beatrice's curt introduction, they welcomed their new companion warmly. Then came their own introductions.
"I'm Kazuma Satō, an Adventurer by trade. Looking forward to working with you." Kazuma's formal tone was influenced by the painful lesson Beatrice had taught him earlier.
Revenge? Not a chance!
She was a Spirit with a contract with Adam — he couldn't win in a fight, and she clearly had stronger connections.
Being self-aware, he knew revenge was out of the question!
It wasn't cowardice; he was simply maintaining good party relationships. Yeah, that's it!
"Yet you're such a Scumzuma."
"Stupid Aqua, what did you say?!"
Here he was, trying to show his good side, but Aqua had to bring up his past. Despite his claims about being a modern youth who believed in gender equality, he was being slandered.
"Crapuma."
"Kazutrash."
Now even Megumin and Darkness were joining in.
"Hey—!!!"
Though Kazuma protested loudly, it was too late — Beatrice had already labeled him a pervert, her gaze growing increasingly suspicious.
"Damn it—!" He let out a frustrated cry.
His history of questionable behavior had finally caught up with him. He crouched in the corner, wallowing in self-pity.
Next was Megumin.
"I'm Megumin, an Arch Wizard!" She bounded up to Beatrice, exclaiming, "Spirits are so cool!"
Her crimson eyes glowed with excitement — she had always been fascinated by Spirits.
But her enthusiasm frightened Beatrice, who instinctively sought refuge in her contractor's embrace.
"Don't be afraid, she means no harm." Adam patted her small head, calming her nerves. He then introduced her to Beatrice, "This is Megumin, from the Crimson Demon Clan — that's why she has an unusual name. Their eyes glow red when they're excited, and yes, she has chuunibyou."
"Hey, don't call my name unusual!" Megumin protested about the name comment, ignoring the chuunibyou remark entirely.
Once her irritation faded, she eagerly approached Beatrice again.
Breathing heavily with excitement, she blurted out, "Hey, won't you make a contract with me too? I really want a Spirit!"
Between Beatrice's unique appearance and her own middle school syndrome tendencies she'd never outgrown, the chuunibyou girl couldn't resist trying to acquire such a cool companion.
But Adam knew Beatrice would refuse, even if he agreed.
So he had to discourage this impossible request, "Sorry, Beatrice is my most important partner, my 'only one.' She can't make contracts with anyone else."
"Eh—how disappointing!" Megumin slumped in defeat.
Unexpectedly, the phrase "only one" set off both Darkness and Aqua.
"Only one...?!"
Darkness's face flushed red as she savored these words, descending into shameless delusions.
"C-could it be that kind of relationship?! But Adam... with me and the others... even though you already had us... this feeling of loss, of abandonment... could this be what it feels like to be NTR'd?! Mmm... how wonderful—!"
"Hey!" Adam quickly cut off Darkness's dangerous stream of consciousness.
But Aqua was just as worked up.
"A-Adam, you tomcat! How could you... how could you... Waaah! Don't abandon me!" She tried to continue but dissolved into tears.
Convinced she'd be abandoned, she clung to him while wailing about being cast aside.
What's going on here? Had something been misunderstood?
Adam held his head and sighed. These troublemakers were such a handful.
"Hey, stop messing around!" He pinched Aqua's cheeks and said harshly, "Let go, you idiot Aqua! I never said I'd abandon you! Besides, let go, you're getting snot all over my clothes!"
Aqua, true to her title as Goddess of Water, had plenty of tears to spare.
"Aqua, Darkness, stop being silly and introduce yourselves properly."
"Ah, hello, I'm Darkness." Darkness composed herself, shedding her earlier impropriety.
With perfect manners befitting a noble lady and Crusader, she delivered a flawless self-introduction — as if she hadn't just embarrassed herself moments ago.
But her true nature quickly surfaced.
"Beatrice, you must be proficient in magic-type classes, so we should be quite compatible. I'm a Crusader, serving as the party's 'shield', so... if there's any danger, please don't hold back, just use me as your meat shield!"
Hey! She actually said it! The forbidden word!
That had to be intentional, you hopeless pervert!
"sigh… Really now."
Adam felt Beatrice shrinking into his arms, clearly unsettled by Darkness's perverted comments.
"Beatrice, although Darkness has some personality quirks, she's reliable as a teammate... and of course, quite qualified as a meat shield (disposable shield)."
"Eh?" Beatrice's surprise was evident — she hadn't expected such blunt words about his companion.
But since Adam said so, this woman clearly had issues. On such matters, Beatrice trusted her contractor completely.
Finally, only Aqua remained. To prevent any foolishness, Adam took it upon himself to introduce this 'noble' Goddess of Water to Beatrice.
"Beatrice, this is Aqua, our party's Arch-Priest."
That was all. Even briefer than Beatrice's own introduction.
"That's way too short!" Aqua protested.
The Goddess was clearly displeased — she had hoped to properly boast about her divine status to the newcomer.
"Ahem, let me introduce myself."
Aqua dramatically flipped her aqua-blue hair — a divine color rarely seen in this world — while using her powers to create sparkling starlight effects.
"Let me introduce myself, I am Aqua, the Goddess of Water." She tucked away her usual foolish expression, adopting what she believed to be a more divine demeanor. "Oh child of the mortal realm, you may worship me, and I shall forgive all your sins."
After speaking, she gazed at Beatrice, eagerly awaiting the Spirit's reaction.
But she was disappointed. Whether it was because her earlier foolishness had shattered Beatrice's divine illusions, or because she'd seen too many Gods in Danmachi to be impressed by Aqua anymore.
Either way, she merely gave a cold nod of acknowledgment.
"Huh?" Aqua was taken aback, "This child isn't surprised at all."
"Stupid Aqua, what kind of Goddess are you?"
"Aqua's always claiming to be a Goddess — she's seriously delusional."
"Indeed."
Kazuma and the others mercilessly mocked her, making Aqua's eyes well up with tears.
But Kazuma noticed something curious and asked, "Adam-senpai, why do you call her Beatrice while she calls herself Betty?"
"Ah, about that..." Adam smiled, "Both Beatrice and Betty are her names, but Betty is what she calls herself."
"Oh, I see." Kazuma nodded.
Adam was clearly indicating that Betty was her self-chosen name, and she preferred others not use it.
"Any other questions?"
"No, that's all."
"Then, let's get some rest." Tired from his return from Danmachi, Adam suggested they retire, "By the way, which room is mine?"
"The same one as before." Kazuma pointed to the room in the center of the second floor, "The mansion Vanir built is just like the original. While it might not be grand, it feels more comfortable this way."
"Yes, Kazuma-kun is right."
Though the 『Hero』 Party could afford a larger mansion with their savings, there wasn't any need.
In the remote starter town of Axel, an extravagant mansion would clash with the peaceful atmosphere.
Just as Kazuma said, the original mansion felt more comfortable. Besides, with their small party, they had plenty of rooms.
"By the way, Beatrice, what would you like to do? Would you like to stay with me?" Adam asked the Spirit clinging to him, "If you want, we can live together."
"Eh?" x4
Everyone was visibly stunned, but Beatrice's answer proved even more surprising.
"Yes, I want to live with Adam."
"EHHH?!" x4
"C-could it be... you two have already reached that stage... h-how shameless!" The party's Crusader descended into her S&M delusions, her words sparking immediate controversy.
"A-Adam?!"
"Oh, does Adam-senpai like lolis?"
"Adamination! Scadam!"
"I never would have thought... that Adam would be a lolicon."
The party's conversation had taken an unfortunate turn. This was clearly a misunderstanding!
Adam had to set things straight.
"Hold on! You've got it all wrong! Beatrice may look young, but she's actually 400 years old!"
"Ah, is that so?"
"Eh... really?"
The other party members remained skeptical.
"But you haven't denied liking the loli type!"
Darkness's observation was the last straw — Adam's forehead throbbed with visible anger.
His patience was wearing thin, so thin!
He desperately wanted to knock some sense into these troublemakers!
Just wait until he found those coordinates to Mario World and taught that dwarf a lesson about true heroism. After getting the Super Mushroom, then they'd see how they liked Super Betty!
What would they say then?!
Eventually, following the party's adamant protests, the two agreed to live separately.
With Adam's mana supply, Beatrice rebuilt the Forbidden Library in the mansion. This arrangement had the added benefit of reducing his mana burden.
And so, Beatrice officially joined the 『Hero』 Party.
Her adventures with them were just beginning. Many extraordinary experiences awaited her discovery.
All alongside her most important contractor.
