Chapter 997: Chapter 834, Part 13: The Courage of CNS_2
Being able to perform ex-vivo resection of tumors involving the liver and pancreas alone was rare, limited to possibly three individuals in the entire country, pushed to their limits, and Professor Shi was one of them. But an ex-vivo resection involving eight organs, particularly with multiple metastases from pancreatic cancer—who would dare to undertake it? Who could even do it?
Anyone in the world facing such a case would definitely give up on surgery.
"Has Professor Yang ever gone abroad to train in this area?"
Professor Shi inquired, wondering if Yang Ping had maybe gone to a top world hospital to witness multi-organ tumor resections and autotransplants and had come back wanting to try something new.
"Training? Does our Professor Yang even need training? From the time he graduated until now, he has never trained elsewhere, just tinkering on his own," said Director Fang frankly.
Professor Shi was baffled. Could surgery really be self-taught? Without learning, no matter how smart you are, you couldn’t master it. Surgery isn’t just a phrase, a formula; it’s composed of countless details, each an accumulation of experiences. He hasn’t trained anywhere, and now he’s tinkering with top-tier surgery by himself?
Professor Shi knew who Yang Ping was. He had thought Yang Ping must have trained at some top hospital because of his talent, which is why he performed well in surgeries. Today, hearing what Director Fang said, he started to feel apprehensive; that young man hadn’t gone anywhere.
"When is the surgery happening? I want to go see it," Professor Shi decided on the spot.
As a renowned national professor, Professor Shi was very responsible, and being a revered figure in the Nandu Medical University system, he couldn’t just overlook such a case; he had to see what was going on.
Professor Shi kept studying the images sent by Director Fang, and the more he looked, the more concerned he became. After reviewing them, he felt a chill run down his spine and his hair stand on end.
Not to mention anything else, the tumor invading the liver was entwined with various ducts around the hepatic portal. This one step alone would stump many surgeons, to say nothing of the seven other organs and numerous steps lined up after.
If one actually removes all the organs, it would be impossible to replant them—it couldn’t be done!
Professor Shi could imagine a mess of organs scattered across the operating table, the patient lying hollow in the abdomen, the chief surgeon’s desperate sweat seeping from his forehead, instantly making Professor Shi feel like the temperature in his room had dropped sharply.
"I definitely need to go see the surgery that day, notify me in advance,"
Professor Shi reiterated over the phone. He wasn’t just going to watch; he planned on bringing a few doctors with him.
A newborn calf isn’t afraid of tigers. Having been in tumor surgery for twenty years and performed over ten thousand pancreatic cancer surgeries, even he wouldn’t dare to consider such a procedure, but this young man actually dared to tackle it; his courage truly deserved thirteen CNS papers.

Ikuta Takashi was sitting smugly in his office, having received the latest news that Nie Shun’e had been hospitalized and the surgery was scheduled.
He hadn’t expected things to progress so quickly. Wang Ge really was capable. Indeed, after pondering, Ikuta Takashi realized Yang Ping was quite significant. Had it not been for him performing surgery on Guo Jingyao, Anning Insurance wouldn’t have received such positive social response.
He had initially planned to topple Zhu Cheng first and deal with Yang Ping alongside, but now the plan against Yang Ping was progressing even faster.
"Mr. Wang said that it is an impossible surgery, but Yang Ping has already accepted the patient and decided to be the chief surgeon. Moreover, he plans to use what he calls ex-vivo resection,"
Nitori maintained contact with Wang Ge, keeping abreast of developments.
Ikuta Takashi nodded slightly: "This case was meticulously chosen by us after a lot of effort. All the data has already been sent to Professor Maeda at Juntendo. Professor Maeda said that if one were to operate on this case, ex-vivo resection would be needed, but such a resection is impossible for this case. The end result will be just a pile of organs on the operating table with no way to close the procedure. Ha ha ha---"
Ikuta laughed uproariously, excessively, wildly.
Though he wasn’t familiar with surgeries, he could imagine the despair and helplessness of a surgeon looking at a heap of organs on the operating table, unable to return them to the abdominal cavity.
"Mr. Wang said the trap he designed is unsolvable. He originally thought Yang Ping wouldn’t accept so easily—unexpectedly, he has accepted it so rashly. It’s utterly foolish," Nitori said with a satisfied grin.
Ikuta gave a wicked smile: "Greed is human nature. Men lust after women, businessmen after money, scholars after academic achievements. A young person trying to reach the pinnacle of academia can lose their reason, naturally developing a gambler’s mentality. If he wins, he will make his mark in medical history. If he loses—he hasn’t considered the consequences of losing."
"If he loses, Mr. Wang will use overwhelming media power to bury him, make him infamous, and remove him from the medical field forever—a permanent solution," Nitori stated confidently.
Previously, when dealing with Anning Insurance, Ikuta Takashi had no leads. But since finding Wang Ge, things had almost changed overnight, and they were progressing toward their target every moment of every day.
There are limits to human capability, and it’s not possible to achieve beyond these limits.
Juntendo’s Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery department is world-class, and Professor Maeda is the best among the elite. He represents the limit of what a doctor can achieve. Could anyone surpass this limit? It’s impossible.
Were it just an ordinary case, failure would be acceptable. But for a case being monitored by Ikuta and Wang Ge, once it fails, the consequences are no longer for the doctor and the patient to decide.
