There was a WeChat group for young talents of Nandu Medical University, and both Yang Ping and Lu Xiaolu were members. Lu Xiaolu must have added Yang Ping through this group. Yang Ping had had in-depth interactions with Lu Xiaolu. This person must indeed be a rare talent.

This award is very important, so I must trouble you to take some time, establish a research topic, and write a paper for the competition. "Stem cells? A primary school student? It’s not quite ethical to do this, meddling in kids’ affairs like this—"

Lu Xiaolu felt it was absurd, a young student using a stem cell research topic for a competition; the kid probably didn’t even know what stem cells were. This obvious fakery, especially using it on a young child, was not acceptable.

"This is Teacher Ding’s idea, Xiao Lu, actually, you don’t know, these science competitions are all about the support behind the child. Most aren’t done by the kids themselves but by the parents. It’s not just us; anyone who wants to win acts this way. Look at the champion of the last competition - the project was about tumor genetics. You tell me if it wasn’t the parents who did it. There’s nothing wrong with following my approach. Bring out an internationally competitive level of research in a stem cell topic, and I guarantee we can win the championship." Guan Ruyan earnestly advised Lu Xiaolu.

"We also want to pave the way for Zhenming early. There’s no choice; the rat race is so intense now. We must start from elementary school, accumulate some capital for him, so he has a competitive edge later in education and doesn’t lose at the start line."

Guan Ruyan added.

Hearing it was Principal Ding’s idea, Lu Xiaolu felt uncomfortable objecting since Principal Ding was deeply indebted to him, an obligation that weighed like a mountain. Actually, all these years helping Guan Ruyan was merely repaying that debt.
