Chapter 1170: Chapter 923: I Want to Keep Her_2
"He said something at the end that I didn’t understand."
"What did he say?"
"He said---’You might as well piss and take a look at yourself.’
"He’s a thug!"
Everyone looked at each other in disbelief, this time unexpectedly encountering such a rude guy who dared to equate BG Company to a puddle of piss.
"They’ve just released a batch of new equipment, including Biological 3D Printers and laboratory instruments. I suspect that these devices are imitations of ours, definitely using many of our patented technologies, but they refuse to accept our inspection. We warned---’You’re violating business practices,’ and they responded, ’If there are still business practices, then first compensate for all the losses due to equipment malfunctions, and then we can have a good talk.’
"How much compensation did they demand?"
"The audacious bastards actually sued us first. The day we locked down their laboratory instruments, the next day they filed lawsuits in both China and the United States—it was clearly premeditated. They’re demanding an astronomical sum---one trillion US dollars. And they’re not just suing our main company; they’re also taking countless subsidiary companies to court simultaneously. We never anticipated such an extensive lawsuit. Our lawyers were ill-prepared."
One trillion? How dare they even ask for that.
"They claim the damage caused by the lab equipment crashing can be calculated by the second."
"They’re not afraid of our warnings at all. We had to escalate the punishment, but it seems to have no effect."
"Are you sure they installed their own software in the laboratory’s equipment?" Li Gaoyang asked.
Marshall nodded:
"Confirmed! We asked them to disclose their code to let us check if they copied ours, and they had the nerve to say---’You give us the code. We need to inspect it line by line. We suspect that you might have copied ours.’"
"My God, did they really say that?" Someone couldn’t believe it.
Marshall continued:
"Yes, that’s what they said. We countered---’According to the timeline, we were first; you came after us, so it could only be that you copied from us.’ But they claimed---’We suspect that you copied our current software in the past.’
"What kind of logic is that, absurd! How could we have copied the present from the past? How is that possible? How could we copy? Time travel? No, my mind is a bit of a mess right now." Li Gaoyang rubbed his temples, bewildered by all the nonsensical issues.
At this point, the leading attorney, Gademan, highlighted the documents in his hands:
"Regarding this time-travel argument, Ruixing Medical has brought forth its own evidence. In a previous patent dispute, our lawyers had made such a claim in court, alleging that the opponent had copied our current technology ten years ago."
The leading attorney said, embarrassed.
"Such a thing happened?" Michelle exclaimed in surprise.
"Yes, they have solid evidence, so they highly suspect that we copied their current technology in the past." The leading attorney found the situation both laughable and serious because BG Company’s defense at the time was just that, and due to this classic defense, the judge ruled the other company guilty of plagiarism, ordering them to pay a huge compensation.
"My God, let me think this through." Marshall bowed his head.
"Mr. Marshall, their evidence includes not only that defense argument but also a video clip of you, years ago at a press conference, telling the entire world---’They copied the technology we’ve only mastered today ten years ago, and they’re suspected of serious infringement."
"Enough!" Marshall roared.
Without regard, the leading attorney played the video clip, and there indeed was a well-dressed Mr. Marshall solemnly answering reporters’ questions at the press conference: "We suspect that they copied the new technology we’ve only just mastered ten years ago. That’s why they now have such advanced technology, surpassing ours. We condemn this behavior."
"Turn it off!" Marshall roared again.
"Control yourself, Mr. Marshall!" Li Gaoyang reminded.
"Erase that company from Earth, it must be erased!" Marshall gritted his teeth.
"I’m afraid it’s not as simple as you saying it should be erased. They have tens of thousands of top-notch scientific researchers, and their funding is more robust than we imagined, seemingly with an endless supply of capital." Rolf was obviously calmer than Marshall.
When had BG Company ever taken anyone seriously? But this time, they had met their match.
Unable to win the battle, outclassed in the argument, they even felt powerless to play the ruffian.

The crash incident didn’t have much impact on Yang Ping, as the planned expansion of the research team proceeded on schedule.
Yang Ping now has the qualifications for supervising Master’s, Doctoral, and postdoctoral students. The laboratory had recently launched a postdoctoral research station and needed to recruit one postdoctoral researcher, in addition to many other researchers.
Yang Ping personally led the interviews for these new hires. The responsible professorial team all came from Nandu Medical University, including Principal Ruo, Academician Xiang, Professor He, Lin Lan, and others.
The PhD candidates participating in the interviews came from top universities around the world, all of them highly talented, among whom Li Yingtong stood out the most with her exceptional performance.
Her educational background, academic abilities, and interview performance all indicated she was an extraordinary talent.
After the interviews, Yang Ping secluded himself in his office where he pondered the final decisions about these doctoral candidates’ positions.
