Supremely Talented Tyrant -
Chapter 911 - 910: What Did I Do? See For Yourself!
"I hope you won't keep wasting your efforts on pointless things!"
Taking the tablet handed over by Secretary Zhang, Dong Aiguo still couldn't bring himself to believe Secretary Zhang's words. To him, it was nothing more than the desperate struggle of his opponent before defeat—after all, he'd already seen the video of Hao Jian personally killing his son!
"This... this..."
But when Dong Aiguo put on the headphones and played the video, his expression began to slowly change, until finally, his mouth hung open and his face turned grim.
"Does Elder Dong still doubt my words now?"
Watching Dong Aiguo's reaction, Secretary Zhang exhaled deeply in relief. A subtle smile spread across his face as he looked at Dong Aiguo, chuckling softly.
"Elder Dong, just what did this guy show you? Why are you reacting so strongly?" With Dong Aiguo still wearing the headphones, Ye Wenying couldn't tell what he was watching or hearing. But upon seeing Dong Aiguo's peculiar behavior, his heart sank, and he couldn't resist speaking up out of curiosity.
"Guards!"
What appeared at first to be a simple command took a shocking turn—Dong Aiguo suddenly gestured toward the four executioners who were still armed but hadn't pulled the trigger yet. Then, he pointed fiercely at Ye Wenying, roaring, "Arrest this man!"
"Elder Dong, what are you doing?!"
The executioners promptly obeyed Dong Aiguo's order and turned their guns on Ye Wenying. They began closing in on him, quickly restraining him.
It wasn't until his arms were forcibly restrained by the special forces that Ye Wenying fully processed what was happening. Confused and furious, he shouted at Dong Aiguo, "Why are you arresting me?! What did I do wrong?!"
"What did you do? See for yourself!"
Dong Aiguo stormed over to Ye Wenying, rage evident on his face. He thrust the tablet at Ye Wenying and played the video for him.
"This... this is impossible!"
Watching the contents of the video, Ye Wenying's face morphed from puzzlement to ashen pale, and finally to utter terror. His lips trembled as he attempted to deny the evidence.
"They framed me!"
The video, given to Secretary Zhang by Awen, was footage taken by Zheng Yuanjie right before his death. It meticulously documented the scheme to frame Hao Jian, the responsibilities of various parties, and ultimately pointed to the true mastermind behind the plot and Dong Aiguo's son's murder—Ye Wenying's voice and Zheng Yuanjie's incriminating confessions made everything crystal clear.
"Scum! You're nearing death and still refuse to admit it?!" Seeing Ye Wenying continue to deny his guilt even now, Dong Aiguo erupted in fury and punched him hard in the face. Ye Wenying was sent flying, collapsing on the ground.
"I already had doubts back when you came to me," Dong Aiguo sneered, stalking toward Ye Wenying, whose fear-filled face was once again restrained by the special forces. Casting a sideways glance at Secretary Zhang, Dong Aiguo continued coldly, "But at that time, I was desperate to deal with Hao Jian. That's why I didn't question the authenticity of the video you provided."
"Later, while Hao Jian was away from Hua City, I took advantage of the city's weakened security and had my people infiltrate. They searched my son's villa for clues."
"That's when I started wondering—how could someone like you have obtained such a video? It was as if you predicted Hao Jian would go straight to the living room and then to the bedroom to kill my son!"
"Did you really think I was too old and senile to notice?!"
Dong Aiguo's voice rose with every sentence. By the end, he was furiously roaring at the terrified Ye Wenying.
"...."
The scene was now filled with Dong Aiguo's enraged roars and Ye Wenying's trembling explanations. Yet Ye Wenying's voice was quickly drowned out by the volume of the anger aimed at him.
Meanwhile, Secretary Zhang and Hao Jian stood quietly with smiles, watching the unfolding drama unfold. Sitting in a nearby car, Mairui the judge had also been closely observing the situation. From believing Hao Jian was doomed, to witnessing Secretary Zhang's intervention, he realized that Hao Jian's fate wasn't so easily sealed.
"I wonder just how many secrets this man carries..."
Mairui cast a long, thoughtful look at Hao Jian as he slowly left the execution grounds. From the very first time he saw Hao Jian in prison, Mairui had known he wasn't an ordinary man.
For someone to overturn their guilty verdict at the execution grounds—it was unprecedented. This exception occurred solely because of Hao Jian. In fact, this entire trial seemed like a farcical stage play involving overlapping agendas: a Military Department bigwig, a prominent elite family Young Master, a trusted executive's protégé, and a mysterious figure from faraway Hua City.
When these players gathered, only a military tribunal would have the power to untangle their lies.
"Elder Dong, didn't I tell you there's nothing you can do to me? Are you convinced now?"
Hao Jian approached Secretary Zhang, looking disdainfully at the furious Dong Aiguo in the distance. Chuckling triumphantly, he lifted his handcuffed wrists and sneered, his expression filled with mockery.
"Kid, you're still a condemned criminal. Even with a video capable of overturning your conviction, it means nothing to me!"
Dong Aiguo's cold gaze locked onto Hao Jian. His voice mingled with fury as he retorted, "Do you seriously believe that I can't have you killed here with a single command?!"
Hao Jian glanced sidelong at Secretary Zhang, his mocking smile unwavering. Slowly, he raised his restrained hands and wagged his finger at Dong Aiguo, replying calmly, "I don't believe you."
"You..."
Dong Aiguo almost choked with rage at Hao Jian's audacity. He snarled, "Even if this was Ye Wenying's conspiracy, my son still died by your hand. This isn't over!"
Dong Aiguo couldn't ignore the video, especially since Secretary Zhang had brought it, implying that the higher-ups were aware of it too. If Dong Aiguo acted rashly to carry out Hao Jian's execution despite this, the repercussions from above would be swift. Although reinforcements from the capital might take time to reach this remote execution site, Secretary Zhang's presence alone made Dong Aiguo hesitate.
The mere thought of the Minister behind Zhang was enough to make Dong Aiguo tread cautiously.
"Men! Take him away—we're leaving!"
Unable to continue targeting Hao Jian, Dong Aiguo signaled his men. Turning abruptly, he began walking toward his car.
Trailing behind him, the four executioners dragged a defeated, pale-faced Ye Wenying toward the vehicle's back seat.
"Bang!"
Ye Wenying was unceremoniously tossed into the car as the door was shut tight. One man kept his gun trained on him, ready to intervene should Ye Wenying try anything.
"Haha! Seems like this time, you've really riled up Dong Aiguo!"
Secretary Zhang recollected the sour expression Dong Aiguo wore as he left the grounds—like he'd swallowed a fly. He chuckled, "Even though he caught the real culprit Ye Wenying, his hatred for you won't go away."
"After all, as he said, regardless of how you've been set up—what he witnessed was still you killing his son!"
With a slight shake of his head, Secretary Zhang sighed. Dong Aiguo's stubbornness was famous throughout the Military Department. The speed at which Dong left today was purely due to two reasons: making an indictment before the Ye Family could intervene, and respecting the unseen hand of the Minister behind Secretary Zhang.
Under different circumstances, if Secretary Zhang hadn't appeared, Hao Jian might still have been executed despite the video. But that begged the question: would Hao Jian have simply surrendered?
"Crack!"
With subtle effort, Hao Jian snapped his handcuffs as if they were made of plastic. As the pieces fell away, he casually flicked the remnants into the nearby woods.
Watching Hao Jian dismantle the handcuffs with such ease, Secretary Zhang bitterly chuckled. "I wonder what kind of lunacy made the old man think this tactic would work to capture you..."
"Haha! If such restraints worked on me, I wouldn't be talking to you here—I'd be chatting with King Yanluo!"
Hao Jian chuckled lightly, glancing in Dong Aiguo's direction as he walked away. A slight smirk tugged at the corners of his lips as he mocked, "For all his scheming, Ye Wenying finally got a taste of self-inflicted karma."
Years ago, shortly after Hao Jian retired from the mercenary scene, a feud erupted with Ye Wenying over certain events. Back then, the Ye Family had seemed untouchable. Yet as time passed, Hao Jian steadily rose through the ranks domestically, eventually surpassing even Ye Wenying's once-formidable influence.
"Come on, you troublemaker. Wherever you go, chaos seems to follow!"
Secretary Zhang shook his head slightly at Hao Jian's remark before turning toward his car."Let's head back to Capital City. We'll find a better place to talk there. I've spent hours flying just to bail you out this time."
Recalling the call from Li He earlier, notifying him that Hao Jian had been captured by Dong Aiguo, Secretary Zhang's initial reaction was confusion. But realizing the urgency, he set off for Hua City without delay.
Though his irritation toward Li He grew...
