Supremely Talented Tyrant -
Chapter 909 - 908: Eyes Can Be Deceiving
"Kid, walk faster! Quit dawdling around!"
At 4 p.m., Hao Jian's military vehicle arrived at the Capital City. The vehicle twisted and turned, ultimately pausing at a secluded location in the suburb. Nestled there was a prison, infamous throughout the nation.
As soon as he got off the vehicle, two soldiers armed with AK-47 rifles approached and started cursing at Hao Jian. To them, anyone sent to this place was a heinous criminal not worthy of basic decency.
After all, when they were hurting others, they never considered the victims' feelings. Now that they've landed in this infamous prison, it's just their comeuppance.
"Heh, looks like the warden here isn't much either. What kind of dogs does he train that don't even know how to see people properly?" Hao Jian deftly sidestepped one soldier's shove, his gaze coolly sweeping over the man as he sneered.
"What the fuck! Kid, what did you just say?! Looking for trouble?!"
The soldier's face turned dark as he roared in anger upon hearing Hao Jian's unapologetic taunt.
"Enough, this man is under orders from General Dong to be brought here. You two better not start anything…" At that moment, a soldier disembarked from the vehicle as well—he was the team leader in charge of Hao Jian's arrest. Seeing the commotion, he shook his head and spoke firmly.
"General Dong's orders? What did this guy do to make such an important figure send him over?" Hearing Dong Aiguo's name, the two soldiers visibly faltered.
"Don't ask questions you're not supposed to. Otherwise, you'll find yourself reassigned to border duty instead of guarding this prison!"
Even the squad leader wished to avoid discussing the matter further. After all, he himself didn't have a clear picture. Capturing Hao Jian had been strictly a matter of following orders.
"I'll just warn you two: this man alone could take on all of us together. If anything happens that angers General Dong, save yourselves—I won't be able to help you!"
In order to prevent these two from provoking Hao Jian unnecessarily, he emphasized the danger. Earlier that morning, he had felt an intense aura emanating from Hao Jian—a visceral threat that no handcuffs could truly neutralize, despite being tightly secured around his wrists.
The handcuffs, in this case, were mere psychological comfort for them, making them feel marginally safer throughout their journey. The squad leader had been on edge the entire ride, fretting over the possibility that Hao Jian might lash out unexpectedly.
"What's taking so long? I want to rest, hurry and take me down!" Watching them chit-chat endlessly, Hao Jian felt speechless. Was his face really that frightening? Why were they all so scared of him?
"Hmph!"
Convinced by the squad leader's warnings, the two gate soldiers merely snorted in response to Hao Jian's tone. Leading him forward, they brought him through a small door beneath the main prison entrance—so narrow, only one person could pass through at a time.
In the past, any criminal showing such disrespect toward them would've been gunned down without hesitation. Hao Jian's behavior might've earned him no chance to stand upright.
Once inside the prison, Hao Jian was escorted to a small, barren room. The room contained nothing except a table and chair, the only sound coming from footsteps tapping on the floor.
Inside the room sat a forty-something man holding a file. Waves of intellect flickered occasionally within his gaze as he reviewed the documents.
Upon spotting Hao Jian enter, he nodded and smiled faintly. "Hello, I'm Mairui, a judge from the Capital City's First People's Court. You can call me Mairui—Mairui is my surname. Please don't mistake me for a foreigner."
The man's humorous introduction made Hao Jian chuckle internally. All the judges he'd encountered before were unfailingly stern and reserved. None had ever spoken as casually as this one.
"What might Judge Mairui want with me?"
Leaning against the wall, with the two soldiers waiting vigilantly by the door, Hao Jian curiously considered the judge's demeanor. Even those brash soldiers showed visible trepidation toward Mairui. What kind of person could elicit such caution from them?
"And you didn't even bother to restrain me. Aren't you afraid I might deal with you here and now?"
"Ha! Mr. Hao Jian, you sure are entertaining. But let me assure you—I know for a fact that you wouldn't dare!" Mairui's eyes narrowed momentarily, a sly glimmer flashing by as he laughed heartily—his behavior breaking every mold of typical judicial decorum.
His conduct left Hao Jian—a man keenly attuned to others' motives—unable to decipher Mairui's intentions. This unexpected unpredictability was somehow disconcerting.
"Quite bold of you, it seems," Hao Jian remarked with a faint chuckle, shaking his head lightly. Indeed, he didn't plan to stir any trouble now—the consequences would be meaningless, adding nothing but extra charges to his record.
"Tell me, Mr. Hao Jian, why is it that after stepping into prison, you don't share the grim expressions most convicts wear? Instead, you seem indifferent, almost as if this doesn't bother you at all."
Mairui was intrigued by Hao Jian's apparent lack of concern. After all, the document in his hands was an official death sentence for Hao Jian—his fate, sealed without a trial.
Hao Jian hadn't even made it to court before being handed his execution notice—a decision expedited solely because of the incriminating video Dong Aiguo had supplied.
"I have a strong destiny—I don't die easily."
Unwilling to elaborate further, Hao Jian glanced at Mairui nonchalantly and said, "If Your Honor has something to say, make it quick. I've been on the road all day and I'm exhausted. I need rest."
"Haha! Mr. Hao Jian, here's your judgment report!" Suddenly bursting into laughter, Mairui flung the files toward Hao Jian. In that instant, the soft A4 sheets transformed into razor-sharp weapons, slicing through the air like deadly arrowheads aimed at him.
"Clack!"
Yet against such a fierce maneuver, Hao Jian calmly extended his hand, effortlessly catching the papers. His steady hand remained motionless, showing no signs of strain—as though Mairui's attack hadn't registered at all.
"Who could've guessed a mere judge would possess such remarkable strength!"
Mairui's display surprised Hao Jian. With such competence, why had this man chosen a career in law?
"Haha, Mr. Hao Jian—my strength is irrelevant. What matters is that in two days, you'll be executed! Shot—to death!"
Watching Hao Jian dismiss his move so nonchalantly, a flicker of astonishment passed through Mairui's eyes. Recovering quickly, he laughed while standing up and sauntered over to Hao Jian's side, staring down at him. "Although this is our first meeting, I can tell—you're no murderer."
"Sometimes, appearances deceive!"
"Heh, don't let me see you out."
Hao Jian chuckled lightly at Mairui's cryptic comment. Politely opening the door for him, he gestured for Mairui to leave.

"Execution? I can't count how many times I've faced such nonsense…"
In his prison cell, Hao Jian lay on the bed flipping through the documents. Full of presumptuous accusations and fabricated claims, the papers brought a smirk of mockery to his lips.
The tone of the report bore an unmistakable resemblance to Ye Wenying's rhetoric. Even if Ye Wenying hadn't personally drafted it, his fingerprints were all over it…
"I wonder what Ye Wenying's face will look like two days from now—it'll be priceless."
In his possession was something crucial: Ye Wenying's Achilles' heel. Earlier that morning, his enigmatic words to Li He had instructed him to contact Secretary Zhang to retrieve Ye Wenying's incriminating video evidence.
With these materials in hand, how could Hao Jian's death sentence possibly stand? Absolutely not. Once Dong Aiguo learned the full truth, the betrayal by Ye Wenying—whom he "closely collaborated" with—would provoke his wrath, ensuring Ye Wenying's downfall.
As for Hao Jian, even if he had personally murdered Dong Aiguo's son, Dong Aiguo wouldn't dare retaliate—not with the high-ranking officer behind Hao Jian protecting him. Without concrete evidence, Dong Aiguo couldn't touch him!
Time raced by, quickly arriving at the day of Hao Jian's execution.
On this day, Hao Jian was brought out by execution police, blindfolded with black fabric, and taken to a vehicle designated for transport.
Inside the vehicle were four armed policemen with weapons—they were tasked with escorting him.
Trailing behind their transport was another vehicle, inside which sat Mairui, officially present to narrate Hao Jian's crimes.
The route they traveled didn't lead toward the city but rather a remote suburban area. Upon reaching the base of a small mountain, the convoy stopped.
What would ordinarily be deserted land was unusually lively today. Dong Aiguo and Ye Wenying had been waiting there for hours, eager to witness Hao Jian's face sink into despair.
