Supremely Talented Tyrant -
Chapter 906 - 905: What's Inside This?
After hastily returning to the Capital City, Ye Wenying barely had time to prepare before getting into a car and speeding toward the military base.
The first priority was to make it to the military base and show Dong Aiguo the video he had, then gauge Dong Aiguo's reaction.
"Restricted military zone, halt immediately!"
Upon arriving at the gate of the military base, Ye Wenying was stopped by two soldiers stationed there. But faced with this situation, Ye Wenying remained calm and simply gestured to one of his bodyguards behind him.
Seeing the signal, the bodyguard promptly stepped forward, taking out a card from his pocket. Addressing the two soldiers, he said, "This is Young Master Ye from the Ye Family. He's here to meet General Dong regarding an urgent matter. I kindly ask for your assistance in relaying this message. We'd be truly grateful!"
"If you're here to meet someone, just say so! Why bother with such pompous talk? It's irritating to listen to." One of the soldiers frowned slightly upon hearing the overly formal tone and waved his hand impatiently before picking up his walkie-talkie to contact the messenger inside.
Their distaste for this style of speaking stemmed primarily from Hao Jian's prior antics at the military base. Not only had Hao Jian come and gone freely, but he had also caused Elder Dong, someone they deeply respected, to lose face. Coincidentally, the major contributor to resolving that incident had been Secretary Zhang, whose scholarly airs had left a bad impression on them.
Although the soldiers couldn't openly express their displeasure toward Secretary Zhang, they harbored resentment in secret. Now, hearing this bodyguard mimicking the same tone, their attitudes soured immediately.
However, given that the person before them was the young master of the Ye Family, they couldn't afford to offend him too much. After all, reprimanding the bodyguard and upsetting Ye Wenying could have consequences. "You don't punish the dog in front of its owner," as they often said, and dealing harshly with the young master's entourage wouldn't sit right.
Moreover, considering the Ye Family's considerable influence, it wouldn't take much for them to get rid of lower-level soldiers like these.
"Yes, yes, understood."
A moment later, the soldier received a reply from inside, nodded several times, ended the communication, then slowly looked up at Ye Wenying and his two companions. Gesturing with his mouth, he said, "Elder Dong has permitted you to enter."
With that, the soldier and his companion lowered their rifles and opened up a path, opting to stay silent afterward.
"Let's go!"
Seeing this, Ye Wenying gestured for his two bodyguards to follow him and led the way inside.
Their car, however, remained at the gate. External vehicles were not allowed to enter military zones—a tacitly understood rule. In high-security bases like this one, even vehicles belonging to the base must undergo strict inspections before passing through the gates. Otherwise, entry would be denied.
"Get in the car!"
Once inside, a transport vehicle designated for pickups was already waiting at the entrance. When Ye Wenying and his companions approached, the military driver opened the door and spoke to them.
This level of treatment offered a sharp contrast, illustrating just how unwelcome Hao Jian had been during his visits to the base. At least Ye Wenying was afforded the courtesy of military transport.
The vehicle sped along, the driver maintaining silence as he focused on the road. Ye Wenying, too, remained expressionless, his thoughts unfazed.
Instinctively clenching the memory card in his hand, Ye Wenying's lips curled into a faint smile while his eyes gleamed with an ominous light.
Dong Aiguo, no matter who you are, with this card in my possession, I refuse to believe you'll stay indifferent!
Ye Wenying knew better than anyone how much Dong Aiguo cherished his son. Otherwise, Dong Aiguo wouldn't have gone to the lengths of orchestrating a trap to frame Hao Jian, or even committing murder. Given Hao Jian's meteoric rise in domestic stature, few dared to challenge him openly anymore.
But Dong Aiguo was an anomaly. Everyone in the inner circles knew he had an only son whom he adored. Yet curiously, few knew where his son lived or even what he looked like—such was the extent of Dong Aiguo's protective measures.
By sheer happenstance, Ye Wenying discovered the son's whereabouts while hiring bodyguards. One of the recruits had recently retired after working at Dong Aiguo's son's villa. Through this man's account, Ye Wenying learned the location.
Later, Ye Wenying shared this information with the now-deceased Zheng Yuanjie. Together, they devised a swift plan to entrap Hao Jian, leading to an irreparable rift between Hao Jian and someone of Dong Aiguo's standing.
"We've arrived. Elder Dong is waiting inside the courtyard; you'll see him as soon as you pass through the entrance." After a thirty-minute drive, the vehicle pulled up outside Dong Aiguo's compound. The soldier driving motioned toward the courtyard entrance before casting a quick glance at Ye Wenying and his two companions, saying, "Only you are allowed to go further—the other two must stay outside."
Not just anyone was allowed to meet Dong Aiguo. Regardless of rank, unless someone outranked him, bodyguards were strictly prohibited from entering. Visitors could only enter alone.
The military personnel had privately established this rule for Dong Aiguo's safety, with his tacit approval.
"Young Master Ye…"
Hearing this, the two bodyguards exchanged hesitant looks with Ye Wenying. Without their presence beside him, they couldn't guarantee his safety, especially in such a heavily guarded military zone.
"Wait for me here, don't wander around. This is not our territory—if anything happens to you here, I won't be able to protect you." Unconcerned, Ye Wenying cast a cold glance at his bodyguards before stepping out of the vehicle and heading toward the gate.
"Let's wait here!"
Faced with Ye Wenying's detached response, the two bodyguards shared a bitter smile before reluctantly climbing out of the vehicle. They waited quietly by the roadside, though their eyes periodically scanned the courtyard beyond the fence.
"I've heard since childhood that Elder Dong loves plum blossoms. It seems to be true. Yet why does Elder Dong have such affection for this bare plum tree—nothing but branches?"
Approaching the courtyard, Ye Wenying noticed a stone table surrounded by several stone stools. Dong Aiguo sat alone at the table, sipping tea from a tray placed atop it. To one side of the tea tray sat a flowerpot containing a solitary, branch-only plum tree, stark and desolate.
"Hmph!"
Having his quiet moment interrupted, Dong Aiguo snorted in discontent before turning his head and casting a dismissive glance at Ye Wenying. His lips twisted into a terse expression as he said impatiently, "My Ye Family has little to do with yours. What brings you here? If it's trivial, don't blame me for showing you the door."
Still bitter from Hao Jian's previous provocations—especially the embarrassment at the base—Dong Aiguo had been reluctant to let Ye Wenying in. After deliberating, he finally agreed. Otherwise, he might have ordered the soldiers to throw them out at the gate.
"Perhaps it's best if Elder Dong takes a look at this first—we can talk afterward," Ye Wenying replied, producing the memory card from his hand and placing it on the stone table with a heavy tone.
"What's on this?"
Upon seeing the tiny memory card, Dong Aiguo's expression shifted to one of solemn thought as he lightly tapped the table with his finger, his voice cold.
"A video of Hao Jian killing your son," Ye Wenying said outright without preamble, knowing the truth would come out eventually and preferring to reveal it upfront.
"Crash!"
"What?!"
The teacup in Dong Aiguo's hand shattered instantly. Tea spilled through the cracks onto his palm, yet he ignored the mess. Carefully placing the broken shards on the table and flicking off the remaining tea from his hand, he fixed his gaze intently on Ye Wenying.
"Watch it first, then we can talk."
This time, Ye Wenying opted not to answer Dong Aiguo's question directly. Instead, he calmly seated himself at the stone stool, fully aware that the emotions Dong Aiguo had displayed meant his goal had already been achieved.
"Get someone here!"
Still glaring at Ye Wenying, Dong Aiguo didn't lose his temper further. Instead, he shouted toward the entrance. Soon, a soldier carrying a submachine gun rushed in, snapping to attention with a sharp salute.
"Sir!"
"Process this for me."
Dong Aiguo casually tossed the memory card toward the soldier before instructing him in an unhurried tone.
"Understood, sir!"
The soldier saluted once again before jogging to a corner of the courtyard gate. There, he pressed a slightly raised stone block. Moments later, various slots emerged, and he located the appropriate port before inserting the memory card.
"Buzz…"
A faint hum echoed as the memory card was inserted…
