Chapter 1516 - Chapter 1516 Chapter 1376 So What If I Kill (Part 1)
Chapter 1516: Chapter 1376: So What If I Kill (Part 1) Chapter 1516: Chapter 1376: So What If I Kill (Part 1) The night was hazy, and the lights of Struggle Main City had become desolately dim.
The busiest time had already passed, and most people were now taking down their lanterns…
On a quiet, elegant street in the city, there was a white attic, tall and standing alone. Dim light illuminated the small garden beside it, enhancing the elegant appearance of this white attic.
At the topmost floor of the Yun Kong Attic, which was one of the few spots in Struggle City where one could take in the beauty of the entire city.
On the spotlessly white, floating corridor, a man sat, with two gracefully shaped songstresses cautiously attending to him.
“Guo Shi, do you think Snake is reliable?” Han Erxing began.
“He’s reliable. Recommended by Lu Fengnan. Although he can’t touch Chu Mu, those people around him could easily be taken down,” Guo Shi replied.
“Yeah, good,” Han Erxing nodded in approval.
“However, those people from New Moon Land are not to be underestimated. Lady Liu has had an expert with her all along. My men were detected as soon as they approached her,” said Guo Shi.
“Then give up on her. Capturing the others shouldn’t be a problem, right?” Han Erxing suggested.
“No problem. I presume Snake has already succeeded,” Guo Shi said with a smile.
While they were speaking, a Divine Sect Guard, dressed in armor, approached and after performing a salute, he said to Han Erxing, “Snake has returned.”
“Let him come up,” Han Erxing nodded.
Shortly thereafter, Snake entered Yun Kong Building. He glanced at Han Erxing, who was leisurely tasting his wine, and then at Guo Shi, who wore a strange smile, making Snake’s expression instantly turn somber.
“Where are the people I wanted?” Seeing that Snake came empty-handed, Han Erxing instantly frowned.
“Failed, encountered Strong Ones,” Snake said, his head bowed.
Han Erxing’s gaze turned cold, and he said with some irritation, “You can’t even handle a few women?”
“There was a very strong Dark Elemental Soul Pet with that woman. My Shadow Snake is dead,” Snake replied expressionlessly.
“A Dark Elemental Soul Pet? Wasn’t your Shadow Snake famed for daring to ambush even Immortal Soul Pets? Why did it fail? Don’t tell me those women all had Immortal Soul Pets by their sides,” Han Erxing stood up from his place in annoyance.
Han Erxing had hoped to strike successfully when the opponent was completely unguarded. The failure of the first attempt made it even harder to deal with the opposition.
“My Shadow Snake was killed. That dark creature didn’t even use any skills. You told me their strength wasn’t much when you asked me to make a move, but my Shadow Snake is dead, and I almost died too. I am here to demand compensation,” Snake said coldly.
“Your Shadow Snake is close to an Immortal level. How could it be killed without the opponent even deploying skills!” Guo Shi said.
“Anyway, I have done what I should. Your intelligence was faulty, and it cost the life of my Shadow Snake…” Snake said coldly.
Han Erxing’s face darkened, and Snake’s pallor was evident; it was clear his soul had been damaged.
However, Han Erxing couldn’t understand why those women had such strong Soul Pets protecting them.
How terrifyingly powerful must that dark creature be to instantly kill a Shadow Snake that was skilled in ambush and close to being Immortal?
“Han Erxing, this…” Guo Shi was also completely astonished, unsure of what to do next.
After thinking for a moment, Han Erxing turned to the armored Divine Sect Guard and said, “Zhao Zhuo, take Snake to collect his commission, and compensate him as much as possible.”
The guard named Zhao Zhuo nodded and, looking impassively at Snake, said, “Follow me.”
Snake glanced at Han Erxing then, without saying more, followed Zhao Zhuo down from the attic.
After Snake had left, Guo Shi, looking perplexed, said to Han Erxing, “You really compensated him? That was a Soul Pet close to the Immortal level.”
“Hmph, he had the audacity to come back after failing. Snake is already on Divine Sect’s wanted list. If we killed him, who would suspect us?” Han Erxing said disdainfully.
“You mean you had Zhao Zhuo…” Guo Shi suddenly realized.
Zhao Zhuo was a highly potential and formidable warrior under Sect Leader Han, not only exceptional in strength but also fiercely loyal to Sect Leader Han.
Most of the time, Sect Leader Han had Zhao Zhuo accompany Han Erxing, and Han Erxing had done many shady deeds through Zhao Zhuo’s loyalty.
“This time, since we didn’t succeed, Tang Zhuo must rely on his own strength to confront them tomorrow,” Han Erxing murmured to himself.
“He couldn’t possibly stand against Tang Zhuo. Tang Zhuo’s Sanguine Wing is unmatched,” Guo Shi said.
“Hmph, as much as Tang Zhuo wishes I would eliminate him tonight, he remains aloof,” Han Erxing said.
As they talked, around ten minutes passed, and Zhao Zhuo, clad in official Divine Sect armor, slowly walked back.
“Is he dead?” Han Erxing asked.
Zhao Zhuo shook his head and said, “The guy is smart. He knew I was going to act against him, and he managed to escape.”
“Forget it, he’s an irrelevant nobody,” Han Erxing said.
“Before he escaped, he said something.”
“What did he say?”
“One day, Young Master will regret his actions today.”
“Heh, by tomorrow morning, his name will be on the Divine Sect’s wanted list, and he’ll have no choice but to flee with his tail between his legs,” Han Erxing said nonchalantly.
Han Erxing glanced at Zhao Zhuo, who was usually reticent, and saw he had something to say but hesitated. “What is it you want to say?”
“Snake is vengeful and excels in assassination. Young Master should be very cautious,” Zhao Zhuo cautioned.
“Even if he comes, with an expert like Big Brother Zhao here, it would be suicidal for him,” Han Erxing declared.
Han Erxing was very confident in Zhao Zhuo’s abilities. If Zhao could not only protect him but also fully obey his commands, that would be perfect. Handling New Moon Land would be effortlessly easy.
“Young Master overpraises me. It won’t be long before you surpass me, while this is all I can manage,” Zhao Zhuo stated humbly.
Zhao Zhuo was tactful; no matter how talented he was, appearing arrogant in front of the Sect Leader’s eldest son would not only confine him to his current position forever but might also put him in his grave soon.
“That’s not true,” Han Erxing generously dismissed the self-deprecation.
Zhao Zhuo was about to continue when his Soul Sense suddenly detected a chilling intent emanating from the black nightfall.
Yun Kong Building was very tall, and cold breezes came and went, but the chill that had just struck was not caused by the cold wind–it was definitely some strong ones lurking in the night.
Zhao Zhuo’s gaze sharpened, and he coldly swept his eyes across the nightfall.
The chill dissipated instantly and retreated far away.
“What’s wrong?” Han Erxing asked, puzzled.
“It’s Snake, that cunning man, daring to return to strike again. If I hadn’t been extra cautious, he might have succeeded. He was very close to us just now,” Zhao Zhuo stated, irritated.
Even though Snake was not as strong as Zhao Zhuo, Zhao Zhuo still couldn’t catch him, which was frustrating.
Han Erxing was also shocked; he hadn’t detected Snake’s approach at all, reaffirming the rumors that Snake was indeed a true assassination expert.
“Young Master, we should leave this place,” Zhao Zhuo suggested apprehensively.
Han Erxing nodded. Although Yun Kong Building was renowned, its location was somewhat remote from the real city area. If something happened here, it would be impossible for Divine Sect’s men to arrive promptly.
Han Erxing stood up, lingering with the two entertainers for a moment before reluctantly making his way downstairs.
Just as they stepped out of Yun Kong Building, another gust of cool wind swept across the faces of Han Erxing, Guo Shi, and Zhao Zhuo.
“Still daring to come, seeking death!!” Zhao Zhuo’s anger intensified, and this time he vowed not to let Snake escape.
Zhao Zhuo quickly summoned his Cyan Demon, immediately charging towards the small forest from where the cool air emanated.
Zhao Zhuo was very fast, instantly entering the forest; however, upon entering, he didn’t see Snake but instead saw a man and a woman slowly walking out.
The woman, veiled, had a graceful stature and an elegant demeanor, looking like an immortal descending from the moon under the moonlight.
The man appeared indifferent, his distinctly non-human eyes staring right at him!
The chilling air was emanating from this man–not Snake as Zhao Zhuo had expected, but someone else entirely.
What shocked Zhao Zhuo even more was that this man exuded an aura far more terrifying than Snake’s. Being near him made Zhao Zhuo realize how foolish his impulsive charge had been!
“Are you a subordinate of Han Erxing?” the man asked calmly.
Zhao Zhuo mustered his knightly courage, responding with the arrogance befitting someone from Divine Sect, “Who are you people!”
The man looked up, his gaze piercing through the darkness and settling on Han Erxing and Guo Shi on the quiet street.
“He is Han Erxing’s guard, Zhao Zhuo,” the woman, akin to an immortal, stated.
The man nodded and strode directly towards Han Erxing, treating Zhao Zhuo as if he were nothing, utterly non-existent.
From a distance, Han Erxing was stunned, his face a picture of astonishment as he watched the man emerge from the shadows.
Chu Mu!
Wasn’t this the man he was meant to deal with?
Han Erxing never expected his adversary to appear here!
“If you don’t reveal your identity now, I will have you detained in the name of Divine Sect!” Zhao Zhuo, ignored by the man, shouted furiously, ready to attack.
Chu Mu turned around, his unique pupils flashing coldly!
“Bang!!!!”
A force, invisible and without warning, slammed into Zhao Zhuo’s Cyan Demon.
Zhao Zhuo’s Cyan Demon let out a mournful cry, spitting fresh blood as it was hurled back, crashing hard against a distant stone wall, unable to rise again!
