Chapter 1061 - Chapter 1061 Chapter 926 Nie Yunbins Conspiracy
Chapter 1061: Chapter 926: Nie Yunbin’s Conspiracy Chapter 1061: Chapter 926: Nie Yunbin’s Conspiracy The man in the bloodstained robe did not turn around, gradually disappearing behind a palace that extended outward.
Chu Mu’s gaze followed him until the man vanished from his sight.
“Just how strong is his strength?” Chu Mu inwardly questioned.
The strength of Xiong Shou was definitely greater than that of Mu Qingyi, but no one knew his exact power–perhaps because, until now, he had not encountered someone who truly required him to exert his full strength!
Chu Mu paused for a moment, taking mental note of the tall man before continuing down the staircase.
The palaces of Wanxiang Altar were often dazzling, causing confusion in finding the way down the mountain in the no-fly zone, as one wrong turn could lead to difficulties.
Not familiar with this place at all, Chu Mu could only follow the maid as she led the way forward, taking the opportunity to survey the palaces of Wanxiang Altar.
“Whose palaces are these?” Chu Mu asked, pointing at three exceptionally majestic palaces the female attendant had led him past.
“These are the palaces of the Territory King. They used to belong to Sir Li Hong, but now they belong to someone else,” the maid whispered.
“Oh?” Chu Mu’s eyebrows lifted, wouldn’t this be his own palace as the King of the World?
“Would you like to go in for a look? This palace is currently unclaimed and can be entered freely,” the maid said.
“Yeah, let’s have a look,” Chu Mu nodded.
The maid seemed to breathe a sigh of relief and quickly made her way to the front, hurriedly leading the way for Chu Mu.
Chu Mu found this strange, but didn’t think too much of it and nonchalantly entered the palace that belonged to him, contemplating in his mind, bringing Qingzi here one day and then nobly giving her these palaces even more magnificent than Soul Hall’s, which would surely make her happy.
…
Queen’s Palace
Guan Guan stood waiting outside the Great Hall when she suddenly noticed a female attendant approaching her.
“Xiao Jing, weren’t you supposed to lead Young Master Chu down the mountain?” Guan Guan naturally recognized Chu Mu and it was she who arranged for the female attendant to lead him down.
“Qingqing said she happened to be going down the mountain to run errands for you, so she took over for me…” the attendant named Xiao Jing said with her head lowered.
“Hm? I didn’t ask Qingqing to run any errands,” Guan Guan said, frowning and confused.
After pondering for a moment, Guan Guan suddenly realized a very serious problem and hurriedly entered the Great Hall.
Inside, Yuan Sui and Mu Qingyi were discussing matters. Guan Guan hesitated outside the hall for a moment, unsure whether to inform Her Highness.
When summoning Chu Fangchen earlier, Mu Qingyi had specifically instructed Guan Guan to avoid certain palaces of the Soul Alliance with Chu Fangchen, considering he was a disaster to the Soul Alliance, and they would definitely use all means to eliminate him.
As Chu Fangchen had come alone, if discovered along the way by those eager to eliminate him, they might take the risk of assassinating him.
Therefore, Guan Guan had chosen the rather clever female attendant Xiao Jing to lead the way, believing that if they didn’t pass through any palaces owned by Soul Alliance’s forces, everything should be fine. But what Guan Guan hadn’t expected was that Xiao Jing had taken it upon herself to have another attendant, Qingqing, replace her.
Attendant Qingqing had only been sent to service Guan Guan’s chambers recently and wasn’t highly trustworthy. Now, with her leading the way for Chu Fangchen…
If this were merely a coincidence, then there should be no great concern; however, if someone were aware of Chu Fangchen’s whereabouts and purposefully bribed or threatened Qingqing.
After much hesitation, Guan Guan still decided to inform Her Highness. If anything unexpected happened to Chu Fangchen, not only would Her Highness punish her severely, but the Three Great Palaces would hardly spare her either.
Guan Guan swiftly approached Mu Qingyi’s throne and whispered to her via Soul Sense, “Your Highness, the person I assigned to escort Chu Fangchen down the mountain has been replaced without authorization, replaced by an attendant who has only recently joined our Queen’s Palace.”
Mu Qingyi’s brow also furrowed, lost in thought.
Moments later, feeling that the matter was too suspicious, Mu Qingyi spoke to Yuan Sui, “I have a small matter to deal with, please wait for a moment, Xiong Shou.”
Yuan Sui nodded without saying anything.
Mu Qingyi rose and left the Great Hall quickly. If Chu Fangchen met with an accident while seeking an audience with her, Mu Qingyi herself would become an enemy of the Three Great Palaces.
…
Main Soul Hall
“Young Master, we’ve found a corpse,” Holy Guard Captain Jia Ren reported in a low voice, kneeling before Teng Lang.
“Isn’t that something for your Holy Guard Leader to handle?” Teng Lang inquired.
“The person was your messenger, he committed suicide by poison,” Holy Guard Captain Jia Ren informed him.
“Suicide by poison?” Teng Lang’s expression immediately changed.
Teng Lang reacted promptly, considering his infrequent visits to the Main Soul Hall, all the attendants, old servants, messengers, and subordinates were newly assigned, their trustworthiness entirely dependent on the steward who assigned them to him.
“Immediately notify the members of the hall court and the experts in Wanxiang Altar to find Chu Fangchen as fast as they can,” Teng Lang urged anxiously.
“Young Master, the experts within Wanxiang Altar are not at our disposal, and to mobilize them without reason, I’m afraid…” Holy Guard Captain Jia Ren queried.
“What do you mean ‘without reason’? Chu Fangchen’s movements have been exposed, someone’s plotting against him!” Teng Lang exclaimed.
“Subordinate… this subordinate will go inform them now,” the Holy Guard Leader finally realized the gravity of the situation and hurriedly headed towards the hall.
…
Wanxiang Altar, the Royal Palace of the King of the World
This palace originally belonged to Li Hong. After Li Hong abdicated, the palace was effectively unmanaged and became deserted.
When Chu Mu entered the palace, he felt its desolation and couldn’t help but shake his head inwardly at how such an extravagant palace, built at great cost and effort, was now falling into ruin…
“Young Master Chu, please feel free to look around. The maid will go fetch you a cup of spring water. The spring water here is quite special,” the Female Attendant said nervously.
After speaking, she didn’t wait for Chu Mu’s response and quickly left the main hall of the King of the World.
Chu Mu didn’t mind and turned his attention to the totems carved on the tall columns.
The totems depicted legendary creatures that had appeared in the World Realm, creatures that were only recorded by name in ancient documents. As for their actual form, attributes, and abilities, there was no way to know.
Contemplating the mysterious and ancient totems on each column, Chu Mu was reminded of something the Fox Elder had once said about viewing the entire human race from a different perspective.
While he was lost in thought, the once quiet hall suddenly dimmed!
“Bang!!!!!!!!!!!”
Immediately after, the doors of the hall slammed shut. Two towering doors closed without leaving a single gap!
This loud noise broke Chu Mu’s train of thought. He turned around and saw that the doors were tightly closed, and without knowing when, all the golden windows of the entire hall were also sealing.
As all the golden windows shut, the sunlit grand palace turned into a pitch-black, icy prison!
“Hoo-hoo-hoo-hoo~~~~~~~~~~”
Lights suddenly ignited atop the tall columns, dimly illuminating everything inside the hall and casting shadows of numerous totems.
In the eerie atmosphere, the stately statues and gold carvings appeared even more sinister, and the whole hall exuded a deadly aura.
“After my arrangement, doesn’t this place resemble the Underworld Palace?” Suddenly, a voice echoing with a cold sneer resounded within the hall.
The flickering flames cast upon a face, ugly and repulsive, wearing a smile so false it sent chills down one’s spine.
Chu Mu’s gaze met with the narrow, sinister eyes of the man.
The abrupt changes had taken Chu Mu by surprise, but the expression on Chu Mu’s face remained nearly unchanged; he observed calmly as the doors closed, darkness enveloped the hall, and a man who referred to this place as the Underworld Palace appeared.
“Who are you?” Chu Mu asked the man who had apparently lured him here, his voice indifferent.
“Me? I am the Judge of this Underworld Palace. Now I want you dead, and your only choice is how you will die,” said the ugly man.
“Insane,” Chu Mu simply replied to the man with two succinct words.
“Humph, you still don’t realize that you’re on the brink of death!” the ugly man scoffed.
Nie Yunbin had sacrificed a spy who had been planted in the Soul Hall for many years just to collect information on Chu Fangchen.
Nie Yunbin had long harbored resentment towards Chu Mu because Chu Mu had killed someone very important to Nie Yunbin!
“Chu Fangchen, you shouldn’t have crossed me, Nie Yunbin!” said Nie Yunbin.
“Oh, so you’re Nie Yunbin. Tell me, how have I offended you?” Chu Mu asked nonchalantly.
“You have not directly offended me. Those who do wouldn’t live to see this day…” replied Nie Yunbin.
Nie Yunbin wasn’t a Spirit Master, but he was known as the Poisonous Desolation because many of his Soul Pets had potent poisons and were famous for their lethal effects.
His frequent exposure to toxins caused his body to suffer from venom backlash.
Only “Zhu Chao” could neutralize the venom that marred his body. Nie Yunbin had done many things for “Zhu Chao,” finally earning an agreement to cleanse his body of the poison and enhance his Soul Pets’ venom.
However, all his efforts to please “Zhu Chao” had been in vain because Zhu Chao got captured by people from the Three Great Palaces due to this man, leaving his life or death uncertain.
Nie Yunbin didn’t care about the life or death of “Zhu Chao.” What infuriated him was that all his prior efforts had gone to waste, and he might forever remain in this hideous form!
The ugliness of his appearance, which had once been rather handsome and fond of women, made Nie Yunbin increasingly irritable. Despite his current strength allowing him to live as decadently as before, the disgust and fear hidden in the faces of the women he overpowered fueled his inner rage. After satisfying his desires, he would typically use his poisons to erase the women without a trace!
This unchangeable transformation was all because of Chu Fangchen!!
Nie Yunbin’s hatred for this man was as intense as the rage of disfigurement; therefore, this time, Nie Yunbin was determined to ruin this guy’s handsome face first and then slowly torture him to death with poison!
“So it’s because of Zhu Chao…” Chu Mu realized.
He was planning to look for Nie Yunbin, but Nie Yunbin had already set his sights on him, which conveniently saved Chu Mu the trouble.
“You think just because you defeated Zhu Chao you can disregard anyone else? You’re not the only one in the Soul Alliance who wants to deal with you!” Nie Yunbin said with a vicious laugh.
