Supreme Electromagnetic Tyrant -
Chapter 628 - 396: The Dark Master
Chapter 628: Chapter 396: The Dark Master
This Chain Arrow, into which Ji Xinghuo had input over 2000 points of Star Power, instantly shot into the pitch-black area that seemed cloaked by the night.
Electric light flashed, cutting through the darkness.
The arrow was faster than lightning, transforming into five arrows in flight, and almost simultaneously striking the energy monster’s head. It seemed still in shock from the target escaping its attack, without time to react.
The moment it was hit, Ji Xinghuo understood, because, in reality, it didn’t need to dodge at all.
The Chain Arrow passed right through!
The monster’s body remained in the shadows, becoming extremely transparent, faint without a trace, as if an existence in an illusion.
"Damn!"
Ji Xinghuo’s gaze sharpened.
The Wanxiang Star Pupil saw very clearly; this monster was real.
Black Ring Star wasn’t part of the Star Realm; there were no spatial folds. It was in the same space as him, only its body had some sort of transformative ability that rendered it immune to physical attacks. However, when the Chain Arrow passed through it, the electromagnetic Star Power stirred up ripples of energy on its body.
This detail was challenging for most people to notice.
But Ji Xinghuo spotted it at a glance, immune to physical attacks, requiring energy damage, alternating between the tangible and intangible...
The Talent Ability "Shadow Lord" of the You Hui Clan!
Although the Hui Clan had perished, their Talent Abilities had not disappeared. Some powerful monsters on Black Ring Star could still obtain this Alien Species, which was also the goal of many Mutants who came to Black Ring Star for hunting.
This energy monster was one of them.
Ji Xinghuo didn’t want to get entangled with it, stopped subsequent attacks, and flew away at full speed.
However, it wasn’t willing to let Ji Xinghuo go. Its fluid energy body curled up into a small ball, only the size of a fist, and ducked into the shadow, swiftly shuttling through the dark, catching up to Ji Xinghuo after several Shadow Jumps.
All without a sound.
The magnetic field within the ruins was once again disrupted, and the sensitivity and clarity of electromagnetic induction sharply decreased.
If Ji Xinghuo didn’t have the Wanxiang Star Pupil, he wouldn’t have noticed it at all.
As he shuttled at high speed, the energy monster appeared behind Ji Xinghuo, spreading its arms, and around it, dark energy instantly formed a vortex. Anyone caught within the range of the vortex would be controlled for at least two to three seconds.
This was its common tactic.
Having learned from its previous miss, this time it launched a larger and faster attack, even calculating the lead time.
However, the instant before the vortex could take shape, Ji Xinghuo vanished.
He had once again used Instantaneous Movement to dodge.
Now, Ji Xinghuo appeared behind the monster at a mere distance of about ten meters. As he landed, his body erupted in a ring of Pulse Arcs that spread out and immediately struck the monster, causing it to slightly hesitate, its intended black laser also disrupted.
Boom...
A series of Spiritual Energy Lightnings struck down.
At the same time, Ji Xinghuo concentrated a ball of spherical lightning in his palm, infused with over 1000 points of electromagnetic Star Power, and shot it at the monster.
Qing Hong also revealed its true form, opening its mouth to spew out a thick Thunderbolt Hand.
The sound of thunder echoed endlessly within the ruins.
The energy monster became transparent and illusory, the Spiritual Energy Lightning striking its body, causing intense shaking. The water-like black energy splashed outward, ready to scatter and wave away like a breaking wave when a ball of spherical lightning struck it and exploded.
A loud bang!
Transforming halfway, the energy monster collapsed, the liquid black fire blasting in all directions, melting away like ice and snow in an instant, leaving no trace.
The city ruins quieted down.
Ji Xinghuo looked around but didn’t find anything. He didn’t believe the monster could be killed so easily by him.
The Spiritual Origin Ability had not given any indication either.
"Where did it go?"
Just as the question arose in his mind, the Wanxiang Star Pupil spotted an anomaly.
Over three hundred meters ahead to the left, ripples emerged from the shadows beneath a pile of rubble, with surrounding energy converging to reveal an ink-like silhouette.
It was that energy monster.
In a blink of an eye, it regained its shape of over two meters tall, its upper body vaguely humanoid with blurred features, and its lower half merged into an energy vortex, continuously flowing without any sign of damage.
Clearly, the spherical lightning attack hadn’t inflicted much harm on it.
The energy monster, hiding within the shadows, observed Ji Xinghuo.
Ji Xinghuo intended to pretend he hadn’t noticed it, to deal with it calmly, but after it gave him two looks, it jumped out from the shadows and raised its hand to attack.
This time, its body ballooned crazily, unfolding in an instant like a great waterfall pouring down, countless liquid black flames filled a hundred meters radius, growing larger and larger, as if intending to cover hundreds of meters to prevent Ji Xinghuo from escaping.
If it were a surprise attack, Ji Xinghuo would indeed have had a hard time escaping.
But within the Myriad Phenomena, he had foreseen this scene and without hesitation, he shot forward at increased "Acceleration," becoming a blur of lightning.
In an instant.
Ji Xinghuo flew out of the black waves by a hair’s breadth.
The energy monster continued to expand, engulfing everything like a tide, but ultimately, it could not catch up to Ji Xinghuo, who kept gaining distance.
Immediately, it compressed into a ball and merged into the shadow to pursue once more, until Ji Xinghuo flew out of the city ruins.
He went through the crack he had entered, and looking back, found the monster gone.
The ruins were silent.
"Didn’t chase out?"
Ji Xinghuo thoughtfully considered that the monster was quite extraordinary. It was at least of Bright Level, and might even have achieved Earthquake Level!
Aside from "Shadow Lord," its other abilities were also rare.
He seriously recalled the information he had read; no monster matched up, which meant it was beyond his knowledge. But one thing was sure, its appearance in these ruins was necessarily related to the You Hui Clan.
After thinking for a moment, Ji Xinghuo had a guess.
He then reentered the relic.
With the premonition of danger from the Wanxiang Star Pupil, he was never afraid of being ambushed. He was also much faster than that monster, so even if he couldn’t kill it, he could easily escape.
He ventured into the relic for about fifteen minutes, but the monster hadn’t appeared.
Ji Xinghuo stood still, invisible.
His gaze swept around, finding nothing.
For the first time, he felt the inconvenience of lacking his sense. When electromagnetic induction worked as usual, everything was under control as soon as it was activated, giving him a premonitory edge, whether exploring or fighting.
In the current situation, he was very passive, only able to stay on alert and wait for the monster to attack him.
Even Ji Xinghuo couldn’t tell if it was observing him in secret.
"First, hunt the shadow-eaters."
Ji Xinghuo glanced at the interface.
[Spiritual Origin Ability: 57624]
He was just over a thousand points of Spiritual Origin Ability away from being able to upgrade the Rotating Magnetic Field and the Electrostatic Field.
Acting as if the monster didn’t exist, he quickly found a group of shadow-eaters, about a dozen or so. He didn’t hesitate to attack, but to guard against ambushes from the monster, he didn’t release Qing Hong and relied solely on himself to hunt.
Ji Xinghuo maneuvered swiftly among the ruins, his plasma pistol firing beams that exploded the heads of the approaching shadow-eaters.
His Electric Potential Battle Blade swung occasionally, slashing the monsters that emerged from the shadows.
Bodies continued to fall.
Before long, most of the group was slaughtered, leaving only two or three that continued to fearlessly encircle him.
Ji Xinghuo turned the pistol to shoot.
Bang!
The head of the nearest shadow-eater burst open, and as he was about to shoot another, a sense of alarm suddenly arose. The world in his vision slowed down as he automatically entered Myriad Phenomena, seeing the light and shadows of the next few seconds.
The energy monster was back.
It was hiding on top of him, inside the remains of a collapsed building over four hundred meters high, where shadows moved within the remaining foundation.
A black laser shot out, aimed straight down at the top of Ji Xinghuo’s head.
The laser hit the ground, blasting a deep crater.
But Ji Xinghuo had already instantaneously moved away. He immediately abandoned the remaining shadow-eaters and fled at full speed into the distance, raising his hand to counterattack.
High-temperature beams shot towards the sky.
The energy monster dived back into the shadows, but Ji Xinghuo’s aim was locked onto it, calculating the lead well. The high-temperature beam struck the monster in the shadows with precision, piercing through it, but having no more effect than if it had sunk into the sea.
However, the monster’s outline was forced to reveal itself, its shuttling speed plummeting.
Swoosh, swoosh, swoosh...
Ji Xinghuo continued firing, and beam after beam of high-temperature light hit the monster. Its flowing body shook violently, and eventually, a hole was shot through it, which healed just as quickly as it was made.
"What’s the point in this!"
The plasma beams obviously couldn’t threaten it; they could only serve as a distraction at best.
Ji Xinghuo stopped the futile effort and flew away into the distance.
The energy monster didn’t pursue him and simply disappeared. Seeing that it didn’t follow, Ji Xinghuo didn’t leave the city’s relics either, but changed locations and continued to hunt shadow-eaters, smoothly harvesting a substantial amount of Spiritual Origin Ability.
Inside the relic, Ji Xinghuo found several pieces of damaged weapon equipment.
Some were ancient, two to three hundred years old.
Others were newer, with evidence suggesting they had been there in recent decades, or even a few years ago, most likely fallen to the energy monster.
"Does it attack anyone who enters this relic?"
Ji Xinghuo speculated.
With the monster’s strength, even a Heavenly King could come to grief if ambushed by it. If no one had lived to escape, did it mean this relic was still unexposed, and the True Dragons were unaware of its existence?
"It’s unlikely..." He shook his head. The monster was hard to kill, but it wasn’t difficult to escape from.
In the subsequent hunts, Ji Xinghuo was attacked every time.
But he was always able to dodge away.
After several ambushes and exchanges, Ji Xinghuo became more familiar with its tactics, determining some of the Abilities it possessed.
Normally, the commotion caused by hunting shadow-eaters would attract more of them.
Since the arrival of the energy monster, the shadow-eaters had stopped biting and started hiding, even fleeing halfway through the hunt.
It was all its doing.
So, Ji Xinghuo would fire a shot and then move on, using his speed advantage to employ guerrilla tactics in the vast city ruins, hunting down shadow-eaters and killing them all before the energy monster arrived.
"That’s enough!"
After hunting multiple groups of shadow-eaters, his Spiritual Origin Ability broke through 59000 points, enough for upgrades.
Ji Xinghuo immediately exited the relic, retracing his steps.
A moment later.
He emerged from the Eternal Darkness Rift Valley, riding the Branch Horn Cloud Deer away, entering a canyon tens of kilometers away. He had cleared the monsters there, making it safe.
In a cave deep within the canyon, Ji Xinghuo sat down cross-legged.
Qing Hong stood guard beside him.
Ji Xinghuo opened the interface of the Wanxiang Star Pupil, his eyes landing on the Rotating Magnetic Field and Electrostatic Field, both Abilities’ progress at (Fourth Level 20703/50069). The frequent battles over the days had yielded some progress.
"Let’s begin!"
Without hesitation, he poured his Spiritual Origin Ability into the Abilities.
