Chapter 600: Chapter 384 Hunting the Heavenly King
The previous few rounds of battle had the flying mantas hiding in the folds of space, never revealing themselves.
Under normal circumstances, they were invisible to the naked eye.
Even when Ji Xinghuo’s shadow clones fired split arrows at the flying mantas, they remained unaware of their exposure. Canghuo Gui, being too far away, hadn’t seen that some of those dozens of split arrows were aimed at the flying mantas.
Both she and the flying mantas thought themselves safely concealed, with no defenses up, bringing their war pets for another leap in space.
The flying mantas emerged from the void.
They resembled a manta ray in shape, with a broad and flat front and a long tail trailing behind.
Qing Hong revealed its enormous true form, like a wall of gold, silver, and cyan, blocking the entire field of vision of the flying mantas. It wasn’t immediately clear what was happening, and it just stayed there stunned, its round eyes blank.
"Clang!"
Qing Hong swung the Sky Splitting Claw, slashing fiercely.
With two forelimbs, a total of ten blades, each over two meters long, ethereal yet sharp, they cut through the void like tearing fabric, reaching the flying mantas that hid within the dimensional creases, slicing into their bodies.
The physical strength of the flying mantas’ bodies wasn’t particularly impressive, even somewhat fragile compared to other Catastrophe creatures.
Just one slash nearly cut them into several pieces.
A strange cry echoed through the void, like the wailing of an infant, piercing and lingering.
The flying mantas fell out.
An arrow of Star Power shot out like lightning, instantly piercing the head of the flying mantas, turning it into a corpse.
Qing Hong opened its mouth and swallowed it into its Dimension Stomach.
From the flying mantas’ leap to death, the whole process took less than half a second. Ji Xinghuo and Qing Hong’s seamless coordination left the other war pets no time to react. From afar, Canghuo Gui watched this scene with a face filled with shock and anger, taking off and flying toward the fray.
Ji Xinghuo glanced at her, his face revealing a cold smile.
Two figures blocked Canghuo Gui, the very shadow clones that had flown past previously, one close and one far, one charging to engage her in melee, the other shooting from a distance to interfere, preventing Canghuo Gui from escaping the fight.
Over here, Ji Xinghuo’s arrow that killed the flying mantas revealed him from his invisibility, instantly making him a target for the Xuan Iron Battle Scorpion, the Giant Tree Demon, and the three Double-headed Flying Dragons.
But he was not afraid at all.
Ji Xinghuo retracted his body and flew backwards, distancing himself in the air from the enemy.
The six surrounding shadow clones began their attack all at once. This time, they switched to ordinary Star Power arrows, focusing their fire on one of the Double-headed Flying Dragons. Just one volley of arrows shot from different directions was enough to explode both its heads.
The Giant Tree Demon and the other two Double-headed Flying Dragons attacked the shadow clones in a frenzy. Branches, vines, fire, and ice spikes engulfed the surroundings.
Ji Xinghuo did not command the shadow clones to dodge, allowing them to draw the enemies’ fire.
He himself took the opportunity to escape to a safe distance.
Then he began the slaughter.
The bow of the Spiritual String Song continuously opened and closed. Arrow after arrow of Star Power formed and shot toward their targets, the arrows like lightning cutting across the sky, bringing sharp thunder as they flew. The first to suffer was another Double-headed Flying Dragon whose left head exploded.
The intense pain caused it to roar in fury, but the second arrow immediately followed, bursting the remaining head, and the roar stopped abruptly, with blood scattering in the air.
Bang! Bang!
The remaining Double-headed Flying Dragon had both heads blasted into a bloody mess.
These three Double-headed Flying Dragons were Canghuo Gui’s war pets, specialized in long-range damage. Their Breath attacks were highly destructive, but today they had not been able to demonstrate their full potential. Now that they were all dead, the remaining Giant Tree Demon and the Xuan Iron Battle Scorpion posed no threat to Ji Xinghuo.
Not to mention, previously the flying mantas had transported them into the sky, only to fall from it upon arrival.
Qing Hong pounced toward the Xuan Iron Battle Scorpion, the two colossal creatures entangled in a fierce fight.
In just a few seconds, the Xuan Iron Battle Scorpion, not fully recovered, was riddled with wounds. Qing Hong then shrank in size and disentangled itself, letting the Battle Scorpion plummet to the ground.
Ji Xinghuo’s Spiritual String Song now aimed at the Giant Tree Demon.
It was splaying countless branches and leaves to form a canopy, slowing its fall.
Explosive arrows gathered on the bowstring.
Three explosive arrows detonated on the Giant Tree Demon, destroying its canopy and causing it to drop like a meteor.
From nearly a thousand meters high, even if the Xuan Iron Battle Scorpion and the Giant Tree Demon weren’t injured, falling to the ground would leave them with half a life.
This situation was left for Qing Hong to handle.
Ji Xinghuo stopped shooting and turned to fly towards Canghuo Gui.
Tens of kilometers away, Canghuo Gui had just dealt with the two shadow clones. When she looked up, she saw her war pets suffering massive casualties while Ji Xinghuo’s real body was rapidly approaching. Doubt appeared on her face, and she turned to flee.
But she hadn’t flown far when she realized Ji Xinghuo’s speed was too fast. Despite her full effort to fly, the distance between them only narrowed.
She was originally not adept at speed.
Ever since acquiring the flying mantas, Canghuo Gui had always relied on their dimensional leaps and arbitrary relocation to dominate battles.
Now, with the death of the flying mantas, she found that spatial distance became her biggest obstacle.
Canghuo Gui immediately turned back around.
As she faced Ji Xinghuo, pale dragon scales emerged on her body, her pupils glowed with White Flames, and a pair of large dragon wings unfurled behind her. She donned a finely crafted Battle Armor over her robe and held a black long spear in her hand, its shaft engraved with dragon patterns and radiating light, the tip flickering with a frightening glow.
As a Dragon Warrior, Canghuo Gui never feared melee combat, unlike most Masters.
Ji Xinghuo’s eyes brightened.
Canghuo Gui’s Weapon Equipment appeared out of nowhere; she possessed a spatial Treasure!
Whoosh, whoosh...
The distance between the two closed quickly. Canghuo Gui was engulfed in White Flames, like a fiery meteor streaking across the sky, her fighting spirit blazing wildly, her momentum unstoppable.
