Supreme Electromagnetic Tyrant -
Chapter 258 - 196 Silent Dragon Roar
Chapter 258: Chapter 196 Silent Dragon Roar
A few minutes later.
A group rode velociraptors in two rows galloping out of the mount training grounds.
Zhuo Lige’s Fierce Battle Bear led the way at the front, like a tank, while the others followed. Ji Xinghuo was in the middle of the team, and Lu Yunhai was at the rear.
Aside from riding a velociraptor, he also led another velociraptor carrying supplies, with the ancient hunting dog trotting beside them.
The team trotted slowly through the city streets, and pedestrians quickly made way.
This was Ji Xinghuo’s first time riding a velociraptor.
Although it only had two legs, its run was very steady with minimal swaying. It held its lifted head down and moved its thick tail flexibly to maintain balance.
By holding the reins and controlling their direction and giving commands by squeezing with his legs, it was quite similar to riding a horse.
Moreover, the Red Feathered Velociraptor was much faster and had more stamina than ordinary horses.
Ji Xinghuo checked the time.
He then said, "Let’s leave the city now and try to reach Masindi before it gets dark."
He had just asked the owner of the mount training grounds, Yibala, who was unaware of the creatures in Masindi, but had heard some rumors that matched what was circulating online, which were not very useful.
In another aspect, Yibala provided significant information.
Recently, the number of people buying mounts from him had suddenly increased, most of them hunting teams and some solo hunters, all from countries around the world.
Clearly, these people were all coming for that monster.
This instilled a sense of urgency in Ji Xinghuo and the others. They originally planned to rest for a night in Kampala, but decide to set off immediately.
Masindi was north of Kampala, about 150 kilometers away.
Ji Xinghuo’s team traveled through the streets of Kampala. They saw other hunting teams on the road but did not interact. Half an hour later, they saw a city wall ahead. In Africa, nearly every city builds walls to prevent wild animals from entering and attacking the residents.
Getting closer to the wall, he observed its appearance.
The wall was made of concrete, approximately twenty meters high and ten meters wide, with watchtowers built every few hundred meters, equipped with firepower, stretching to the horizon.
However, there were no guards to be seen, and it was empty.
Ji Xinghuo shook his head. Such walls could only fend off some wild animals and low-level monsters, hardly stopping elite monsters, let alone many monsters that could fly.
In modern warfare, a wall was practically a joke.
Its most significant role was not to defend against beasts but to function as a cage, trapping residents and limiting their living space.
At the base of the wall, a hole-like gate was guarded by heavily armed soldiers, inspecting and charging pedestrians and vehicles passing through.
Due to inefficiency, there was a long queue at the gate, which was very congested.
The noise was loud, like a marketplace.
When Ji Xinghuo and his team rode their towering velociraptors over, the crowded crowd promptly made way, allowing them to reach the checkpoint smoothly. The surrounding soldiers all turned their attention, and a black officer looking stern blocked their path and said without expression, "Please show your passes."
He appeared strict, but underneath his eyes lurked undisguised unease.
Zhuo Lige, riding on the War Bear, loomed over the black officer, creating immense pressure. He took out a small stack of banknotes from his bag and tossed them over.
This money was from the Asia-Pacific Community and highly favored in Africa, accepted universally across countries.
The officer caught the money and quickly counted it.
"Let them pass."
He waved his hand, ordering the soldiers to clear the checkpoint.
Ji Xinghuo and his team smoothly exited the gate without uttering a single word or showing any documents. Under the watchful eyes of everyone present, the act of bribery was clearly observed, yet no one seemed to find an issue with it.
In Africa, money was the best pass.
Once out of the city, the view suddenly widened. The East Africa Plateau’s temperature was pleasant during the transition from spring to summer, life thrived everywhere, presenting a vibrant scene.
Several roads led out of the city, but all were in disrepair, full of pits and bumps.
The velociraptors ran along the main road heading north, speeding up to about 50 kilometers per hour. The gentle spring breeze blowing past was incredibly soothing.
Looking back at Kampala, one could see a vast lake, Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest and the world’s second-largest freshwater lake, covering nearly 70,000 square kilometers. It was known as Africa’s reservoir and the largest source of the Nile River.
"Hoo-ha!"
Chi Zhonglin couldn’t help but shout out loud.
Everyone was in good spirits.
Zhuo Lige admired the open scenery along the road. "East Africa is indeed a great place, rich in resources and with a cool climate, but it’s a pity it could never develop."
"The place is good, but the people aren’t necessarily," Chi Zhonglin joked in response.
Jing Ji couldn’t help shaking his head. "If the locals hear you, you can’t escape being accused of racial discrimination."
"I’m speaking the truth," Chi Zhonglin defended nonchalantly. "Africa has remained impoverished and backward for so many years due to international politics and capital influences, but their own problems are even greater. I’m not alone in this belief; many people from Africa think the same."
"You can’t blame everything on racial differences..." Yuan Chongzhen joined in the conversation.
Ji Xinghuo, however, wasn’t interested.
He simply listened to his teammates’ discussion while constantly activating his magnetic field senses, scanning the surroundings within a two-kilometer radius.
The wilderness started just outside Kampala, with almost no villages or tribes.
All people were driven to live in the city.
Outside the city there was no agriculture. The people’s food depended on imports from other nations, consisting predominantly of very cheap industrial synthetic food. Yet, to afford a day’s food, they had to toil over ten hours a day on assembly lines, their labor and sweat severely exploited.
Although living on the same Earth, their lives were worlds apart.
The factors causing this situation were complex.
Ji Xinghuo was listening to his teammates arguing more and more fiercely, just about to intervene to calm the dispute, otherwise they might disband before the battle even started.
"You all..."
He had just opened his mouth when he suddenly stopped.
His teammates all looked over, Jing Ji asked, "Xinghuo, what’s wrong?"
"Someone has come to deliver weapons," Ji Xinghuo replied abruptly, asking everyone to slow down the velociraptors.
A roar of car engines came from behind.
Everyone looked back to see a convoy speeding down the highway, quickly approaching. There were five vehicles in total, two of which were armored troop carriers, and two other cars were modified military vehicles with machine guns mounted on top, filled with soldiers.
Chi Zhonglin’s complexion changed, "Black King’s army."
The uniforms of these people bore a black crown insignia, and the same logo was also affixed to the sides of their cars, indicating they were soldiers from the East Africa Kingdom.
But in Africa, government armies are often the most dangerous and the biggest warlords.
Clearly, the newcomers were not here for good.
"You guys stay here, I’ll handle this."
Ji Xinghuo rode the velociraptor alone to turn around and meet the convoy.
The two parties approached quickly, all weapons on those five military vehicles were aimed at Ji Xinghuo. The vehicles also slowed down and stopped about a hundred meters away, spreading out into a fan-shaped formation, their crossfire locked on Ji Xinghuo’s position.
A black officer got out of a vehicle and stood in front of it.
Ji Xinghuo also dismounted from the velociraptor and walked forward, stopping at a distance of about twenty meters from each other.
The two men observed each other.
This black officer was a Super Mutant, extremely muscular, wearing armor, his nearly two-meter-tall stature making him imposing, with a huge War Blade strapped on his back.
"Are you from the Asia-Pacific Community?" the black officer asked.
Ji Xinghuo did not answer.
"I am Colonel Quintinsen, responsible for the defense of the northern wall of Kampala," the black officer said sternly. "I just received a report that a Hunting Team left Kampala without showing a pass, which violates the laws set by the great Black King..."
Ji Xinghuo waved his hand lightly.
Dragon Roar without sound!
Quintinsen only felt the young man before him becoming extremely majestic, reminding him of the Black King, a silent wave spreading out, and behind him came a sound of people falling to the ground.
He turned back to see that all his soldiers had their eyes rolled back, having fainted.
"You..."
Quintinsen was greatly alarmed.
He was a Super Mutant and had merged with "Steadfast Will", so he was unaffected mentally, but his soldiers were mostly Primary Level Mutants, and some were even normal humans, falling down without even engaging in combat.
"What were you saying just now? Colonel?" Ji Xinghuo asked.
Quintinsen, hearing the voice, turned back to find Ji Xinghuo had somehow come up close, only a few steps away.
He instinctively stepped back, his eyes full of fear.
"I am an officer of the Black King..." Quintinsen straightened his chest, staring fixedly at Ji Xinghuo, trying to intimidate him with the authority of the King.
"I know."
Ji Xinghuo smiled mildly, "Just give us some weapons and ammunition, Colonel, and we’ll leave right away, as if nothing happened, how’s that?"
Quintinsen secretly breathed a sigh of relief. Although he originally came to impose a levy, being extorted in return was quite embarrassing, but surviving was what mattered. He forced a smile, gesturing generously, "Please, help yourselves."
"Thank you, Colonel," Ji Xinghuo beckoned his teammates over.
The group laughed and clambered onto the vehicles, each selecting a batch of firearms, electromagnetic rifles, laser guns, and slotted them into the saddlebags on the sides of the velociraptors.
"And this beauty!"
Zhuo Lige lut roared in laughter as he pulled out a rocket launcher from the trunk of one of the modified military vehicles, roughly 1.2 meters, thick and straight, marked with letters indicating it was made in the American Federation.
This type of rocket launcher fires Plasma Bombs.
A single bomb could blow a Sky Fighter or a tank to smithereens, having an extremely fearsome destructive capability.
"I’m taking these!" Zhuo Lige lut unapologetically carried the rocket launcher and four Plasma Bombs onto the back of the battle bear, delightedly.
Ji Xinghuo also took two electromagnetic rifles, returned to the velociraptor’s back, and said, "Thank you for your generous gift, Colonel."
"It’s nothing, please go safely," Quintinsen replied.
Quintinsen waved goodbye as Ji Xinghuo and his team sped down the highway.
Only when the velociraptors and their riders were out of sight did he sit down on the ground, his face revealing a look of having survived a calamity.
