Chapter 65: Knocking

Chapter 65: Chapter 65: Knocking

"Click, click..." the sound of photography came over, and Wu Daxi seemed to have found some feeling, repeatedly making intimate gestures only lovers would make.

He Jinxia also exhibited top-notch acting skills, responding with expressions of shyness, playful annoyance, or timidity, gradually heating up the atmosphere between them.

Yet, their cooperation still wasn’t enough.

He Jinxia kept glancing at the photographer’s face out of the corner of her eye, and even though the shots continued non-stop, there was no improvement in the photographer’s expression.

She pondered for a moment, then a spark of inspiration flashed through her mind, and suddenly she broke free from Wu Daxi’s embrace.

She pushed Wu Daxi with her hand, and the man, caught off guard, stumbled a few steps back.

Looking up, He Jinxia had already risen on her tiptoes, looking down at him with a superior air, her slender, jade-like fingers slowly raised, gradually lifting his chin—

The woman’s expression was arrogant and domineering, with the light and shadows hitting her from the side, accentuating her powerful aura even further, instantly revealing a tyrannical businesswoman’s demeanor.

Wu Daxi was slightly taken aback, but soon, he adjusted his facial expression, his eyes darkening as he silently looked at He Jinxia.

"Good!"

For the first time during their photo shoot, the photographer uttered the word "good."

The following shots went very smoothly, and half an hour later, He Jinxia wrapped up successfully.

She came out of the changing room dressed, just as she ran into Wu Daxi coming out of the men’s changing room.

He was on the phone, looking somewhat irritated, "You’re overthinking, no, you—"

Upon seeing He Jinxia, his speech halted abruptly, and he quickly ended the call, watching her somewhat awkwardly, his lips moving slightly, unsure of what to say next.

He Jinxia took the initiative to politely say, "Senior Wu, my agent is still waiting for me outside. I need to leave first."

Wu Daxi dumbly nodded.

He Jinxia walked past Wu Daxi without a sideward glance, not pausing for a moment.

In the industry, what’s never lacking are secrets, and paparazzi are always in abundance, but He Jinxia had no interest in playing paparazzi and prying into others’ privacy. Getting along peacefully with everyone in the crew was the best outcome.

Unfortunately, her reluctance to provoke others did not mean others had the same attitude towards her.

"Cut, Li Li, your emotion is off. When you found out Chen Xiaohui won the award, your expression should be happy, your eyes should shine with joy, even crying with excitement would be fine.

You are Chen Xiaohui’s best friend, someone who has witnessed every step of her becoming slim. Others may not understand Chen Xiaohui’s hardships, but you do. When she wins an award, you should feel even more gratified!"

After several retakes, Dong Qin, despite her normally good temper, couldn’t hold back any longer and shouted loudly through a megaphone.

The day after completing the magazine shoot, He Jinxia immersed herself in the filming of the movie. There were only a few scenes left, and everyone in the crew was thrilled, eager to finish the final scenes quickly.

Maybe it was true what they said—the more you rush, the worse you do. The crew’s progress was severely hindered; in the morning it was Wu Daxi who had issues, and in the afternoon it turned to Li Li.

Getting scolded by the director left Li Li bewildered, biting her lip, feeling wronged and innocent.

Isn’t it just a happy smile? Isn’t smiling just lifting the corners of the mouth? Did they want her to laugh out loud with a "hahaha"?

What exactly did she do wrong? Did they really want her to cry out in excitement?

It’s just an award, not even her own victory. Crying out in joy would be overly fake, wouldn’t it!

Dong Qiin looked at Li Li, who was completely out of it, and felt like swearing again.

Out of the corner of her eye, she caught sight of Wu Daxi standing by and said without thinking, "Daxi, you have acted in many films, go and give Li Li some tips on acting."

Wu Daxi responded, "Okay, director."

He Jinxia took this chance to rest, sitting in a chair and drinking a delicious slimming juice made especially by Xiao Tiantian from mixed fruits.

Ten minutes later, the filming resumed, and somehow, under Wu Daxi’s guidance, Li Li managed to get through the scene in just two takes.

After that, Li Li returned to her usual performance level, and her opposite scenes with He Jinxia went very smoothly, allowing the film crew to wrap up on time in the evening.

He Jinxia had no desire to go out, not to mention her recent popularity had not waned, and the paparazzi were crazily trying to capture shots of her. Luo You had advised her not to go out, so as usual, once the crew wrapped up, she stayed in her room.

That evening, just after He Jinxia had finished exercising, her room door was suddenly knocked on.

A hint of confusion crossed her eyes as she opened the door and paused, stunned to see Li Li.

With a smile curling at the corners of her lips and a script in hand, Li Li spoke gently and softly, "Jinxia, there are some things about acting I don’t understand, I’d like to rehearse some scenes with you. Do you have time?"

He Jinxia furrowed her brows imperceptibly and looked outside. There was no one around the set, all was quiet.

She quickly thought of an excuse, saying apologetically, "I’m sorry, I need to exercise in a moment, for at least two hours, and by then it will be too late. We should find another time to rehearse."

Li Li said, "It’s no problem, I can wait for you."

He Jinxia replied, "But after exercising, I’ll be too tired and won’t have the energy to rehearse. I need to rest early, Senior Li, sorry to make you come here for nothing. Let’s schedule another time."

Li Li continued talking to He Jinxia for a while, but seeing that He Jinxia had no intention of inviting her in, she dropped the pretense and got straight to the point:

"Jinxia, what do you think about me and Wu Daxi?"

A chill passed through He Jinxia’s heart as she answered flawlessly, "Both seniors are very good, professional and dedicated."

A hint of satisfaction flickered in Li Li’s eyes. She folded her arms and said pensively, "Then, what do you think about him and me being together?"

He Jinxia fell silent then.

Regardless of whether Li Li was recording the conversation or not, given the nature of their relationship, these topics were off-limits.

Li Li raised an eyebrow and said arrogantly, "Why the silence? Do you think we don’t match?"

He Jinxia shook her head, still silent.

Seeing her cautious demeanor, Li Li scoffed and patted her shoulder, saying, "Jinxia, I’m telling you this because I trust you. Daxi and I are dating, you—"

He Jinxia immediately said, "Senior Wu is only my senior."

Li Li patted her shoulder again, smiling, "You’re a smart person, I’m telling you this because I trust you, please don’t let it get out."

He Jinxia hurriedly nodded, saying somewhat timidly, "Yes, Sister Li."

Possibly because she saw how subdued He Jinxia was, Li Li felt a sense of accomplishment after making her point and, after talking for a while longer, left.

Once Li Li had left, He Jinxia closed the door; the smile disappeared from her face, replaced by an indifferent expression.

She walked over to the exercise equipment, picked up a dumbbell, and muttered two words, "So stupid."
