He Jinxia actually didn’t like holding meetings very much. Modern thinking and ancient times’ thinking still had a considerable gap, even though she had been in the modern era long enough, deep down she was still someone from ancient times.

She worked hard at accepting roles and filming, not without the thought of escaping, afraid of being discovered by others as different. On one hand, the enclosed environment of the film set allowed her to gradually blend into modern society without appearing strange to others.

The few major decisions she had made with Luo You before were all based on her sharp intuition.

So now that Xue Jian brought up making a joint decision, He Jinxia rejected the idea without a second thought.

She said with great regret, "Although I would like to contribute what little I can, when it comes to marketing and promotion, I’m really not up to par. The General Manager can discuss this with my agent. I have some filming and promotional schedules in M country coming up, so I’m afraid I won’t be able to join your discussion."

Ever since He Jinxia became the spokesperson for the Feier brand, Xue Jian had hoped that He Jinxia would come in person to discuss some promotional decisions, but his requests were turned down by her team.

This time being rejected by He Jinxia in person, Xue Jian had anticipated it, so he didn’t take it to heart and said with a smile, "Miss Jinxia is really busy indeed!"

He Jinxia humbly said, "It’s a crucial phase in my career, so I can’t afford to slack off."

Xue Jian neither agreed nor disagreed and stopped speaking further.

He had always been clear about his own feelings and thought of himself as patient. He Jinxia was young, and it was another year of her being in the spotlight; it was normal for her to be immersed in her career and unconcerned about romance.

Classical music was playing softly in the car, creating a tranquil and beautiful atmosphere.

The car arrived at the hotel where He Jinxia was staying, and Xue Jian escorted her down. As she turned to leave, he suddenly called out He Jinxia’s name.

He Jinxia stopped in her tracks and turned to look at Xue Jian, a look of confusion on her face.

Many thoughts flashed through Xue Jian’s mind, and in the end, he just gave her a slight smile, saying, "You can carry guns in M country, be careful at night, and it’s best not to go out."

He Jinxia politely thanked him and turned to leave once more.

Xue Jian watched as she entered the hotel, then turned and got back into the car, pushing his thoughts back down.

Forget it, no rush.

On the other side, He Jinxia returned to her room, and upon opening the door she saw Cheng Xiaohua standing rigidly at the doorway with an inquisitive look.

He Jinxia was somewhat startled and took a few steps back, frowning, "Sister Xiao Hua, why are you standing at the door?"

Brother Luo’s figure darted out from behind Jinxia, "Simple, she suspects you’ve transferred your affections!"

He Jinxia was frightened again and took a few steps forward; retreating and advancing, her body fully entered the room.

With a "bang," Brother Luo followed her inside and closed the door behind him.

He Jinxia looked at Brother Luo and Cheng Xiaohua, who were suddenly closing in, and her mouth twitched slightly as she guarded her chest with her hands, "What are you guys doing, a three... no, a two-hall interrogation?"

Cheng Xiaohua didn’t know where she got a cucumber from, crunching a bite out of it, glanced at her sideways with a vague expression, "Tell us, what’s going on with you and the General Manager of Feier brand?"

He Jinxia: "..." Are you two parrots or something?

She took a deep breath, a smile creeping onto her face, and said, "First off, I’d like a snow pear, thank you!"

Cheng Xiaohua instantly set off at a run, "thump, thump, thump," and really did get a pear from the mini-fridge, although it wasn’t a snow pear but a green fragrant pear.

She gripped the fragrant pear in her hand, estimating the difference in weight between a fragrant pear and snow pear, and then grabbed a second fragrant pear from the fridge before running over to Jinxia and handing her both pears.

Luo You: "No need to guess, he definitely is."

He Jinxia spread her hands helplessly, "Alright, I also think he’s interested in me, but—"

"He hasn’t made it outright clear, so it’s hard for me to flat out reject him. You know what I mean, right?"

Cheng Xiaohua nodded sagely, sighing forlornly, "It’s so annoying to deal with these things, an absolute peach blossom debt!"

Luo You resumed crunching on his apple, "How does that saying go again, ’You might not love me, but you can’t stop me from loving you’... Xue Jian is playing it cool, that’s for sure! Looks like he’s a seasoned player in the game of love."

He Jinxia mentioned the matter Xue Jian wanted to discuss to Luo You, who gave an "OK" sign.

Luo You mused, "Suddenly, I sort of understand why Feier always invites you to meetings and you never go. Seems like it’s a woman’s instinct to avoid, even though you didn’t know he was interested before, you were subconsciously avoiding contact with him."

He Jinxia: "Brother Luo, you’re overthinking it."

Cheng Xiaohua, however, was fully on board with Luo You’s view, "I think so too. It’s good that you’re not attending. Without a clear declaration, you can’t just outright refuse and risk them biting back, accusing you of wishful thinking."

"Besides, you’re the brand ambassador for Feier, having signed for a whole three years. You can’t afford to completely sever ties, so avoidance is the only option."

He Jinxia thought about it and said, "Right now there isn’t a better strategy, so I’ll just dodge whenever I can."

This opinion got unanimous approval from Luo You and Cheng Xiaohua. After discussing the next day’s travel destination, they dispersed.

Only then did He Jinxia take the fragrant pears to the restroom to wash them and started nibbling leisurely.

After finishing off both pears, she heard some noise in the hallway.

He Jinxia peeked out the door and saw two drunks being herded by a staff member, stumbling their way to their room.

A shadow of regret flickered through her eyes, and just as she was about to close the door, suddenly, Sheng Yan’s figure appeared at the stairwell. Following a server, he came in fully geared with glasses and sunglasses.

He Jinxia’s eyes lit up immediately, and she hurriedly shut the door and went back inside the room to find sunglasses and a face mask. After waiting several minutes in place, she quietly opened the door again.

Cheng Xiaohua watched the whole time as He Jinxia behaved like a sneak thief, wanting to say she now looked like a peeping tom. But the words reached her lips only to be swallowed back down.

Forget it, as long as Jinxia is happy. Maybe she’s playing some kind of game.
