Chapter 193: Chapter 193 "World
Before leaving the crew, Gu Qiao made a special point of coming over to He Jinxia and said, "Keep it up and delve deeper into your craft."
He Jinxia was somewhat surprised by Gu Qiao’s encouragement and quickly nodded, saying, "Thank you, Director."
After Gu Qiao left, Luo Sifang and Yang Xiaoqing also came over, each taking one of her hands, expressing their reluctance to part.
It was only April, and "Small Bridge, Flowing Water, People" aimed to hit the summer box office in August, which meant that filming had to be completed by May.
The good news was that "Small Bridge, Flowing Water, People" didn’t require much in the way of special effects, so post-production wouldn’t take too long, but it would still need over a month.
The crew had started working around the clock since April, and the actors were all up at night shooting. He Jinxia looked at the two of them and felt they both seemed much more worn out.
They didn’t talk long before they were called away to shoot by the coordinator.
He Jinxia walked a few steps forward and saw Luo Dingxin under a tree.
He was still dressed in his costume from Peach Garden, tall and majestic, with his sword-like eyebrows making his eyes sparkle like stars. Noticing He Jinxia’s gaze, he tilted his head to meet her eyes.
He Jinxia nodded at him, offered a faint smile, didn’t say much, and turned away to leave the crew.
Luo Dingxin watched her retreating figure, gripping the script tightly, a sense of melancholy loss rising in his heart.
Some people come into your life like a gentle breeze; they are elusive and unpredictable, yet they etch deeply into your memory, leaving a fleeting moment of wonder before they depart, becoming just a passerby in your long journey of life.
It was only after He Jinxia got in the car that she began to remove her makeup, in a hurry to head to Sheng Yan’s "World" crew.
He Jinxia’s team took this sudden opportunity very seriously. Luo You not only stayed in a room in the hotel where He Jinxia was living but also specifically called Tony over.
Tony took a flight that landed at seven in the morning, and rushed over without stopping, now sitting in the car looking sleep-deprived.
Yet, even so, Tony was meticulous in helping her remove her makeup.
As Tony removed her makeup, he grumbled, "If your role this time is just a Passerby A, I could just split Luo You’s heart open!
I finally get three days off, and my dear and I have time to fly abroad for a short trip. Barely half a day after getting intimate, I get an urgent call in the middle of the night from Luo You to rush back, and now my dear will have to be heartbroken at not seeing me again!
Interrupting a couple’s loving moments is asking for a lightning strike; why doesn’t Luo You, this single dog, go find a girlfriend? I find him so unpleasant, extremely unpleasant..."
Yeah, not only is interrupting a couple’s love moments asking for a lightning strike, but Tony will also nag you to death, without ever repeating himself; just nag, to, death!
Tony ranted at He Jinxia for a full half an hour. She didn’t know what others thought, but anyway, she went from listening attentively at first to feeling quite sleepy towards the end.
Finally, driver Cheng Xiaohua called out, "We’re here!"
That’s when the grumbling Tony finally shut his mouth.
He Jinxia and Cheng Xiaohua quickly got out of the car.
Jinxia met with Sister Xiao Hua and asked softly, "Where’s Brother Luo?"
A look of helplessness appeared on Cheng Xiaohua’s face as she whispered, "He’s been getting lectured by the master from the airport all the way to the set since this morning. He couldn’t stand it, so he didn’t come."
He Jinxia laughed out loud, unable to resist finding it funny.
It turned out she wasn’t the only one tricked!
After some thought, she gave Cheng Xiaohua a task, and as she listened, Cheng Xiaohua nodded with bright, sparkling eyes.
By the time Tony caught up with them from behind, the two of them had stopped communicating right away.
As soon as they entered the "World" crew, a staff member was waiting at the entrance and said, "You’re He Jinxia, right? Come with me for the costume fitting."
He Jinxia had never seen the director, just as Sheng Yan had said, she didn’t have to audition and went straight to costume fitting before filming.
The three had only time to glance at the bustling scene of the crew moving props and setting up before being pulled into the makeup room.
The makeup artist hired for "World" was a woman, considered a veteran in the industry, who specifically handled makeup for major characters.
Because the dancer He Jinxia was portraying needed to look stunning at first glance, exceptionally beautiful, this makeup artist was sent over specifically for He Jinxia. Director Li was afraid that other makeup artists wouldn’t achieve the effect he wanted.
Upon seeing Tony, the female makeup artist was very surprised. Tony negotiated with her to take charge of Jinxia’s makeup, and after some thought, the makeup artist agreed, although she wanted to watch nearby in case Tony went off track.
This was, of course, not a problem, and Tony readily agreed.
After He Jinxia’s costume and makeup were completed an hour later, she was immediately taken to meet Director Li.
When she arrived, Director Li was working, seriously and intently wearing 3D glasses and looking at the camera monitors.
He Jinxia stood nearby, waiting for a while, watching two male actors in the scene in front of her filming.
The two male actors were handsome and well-built. Their physical appearances were quite impressive, and what was rare was that they captured their expressions very well. They had solid dialogue skills and their movements exuded the charm and grace of ancient scholars or nobles.
As He Jinxia watched, her gaze sharpened, and she became lost in thought.
In the scene, the two characters played by the male actors were chatting merrily when suddenly, the door was flung open with a loud "bang."
A general clad in golden helmet and silver armor strode in confidently, and that "thud, thud, thud" of his footsteps was powerful and resounding, the sound alone imposing a strong sense of oppression.
The two men looked up and their expressions changed slightly, with a hint of surprise.
"Cut, good!" shouted Director Li, approvingly saying, "Take a ten-minute break then we’ll shoot the next scene. Everyone get into your states, let’s get these important scenes done today, and I’ll give you a day off tomorrow!"
"World" had started shooting in Film City ahead of schedule, and the original shooting timetable was already relaxed; starting earlier meant even more leeway.
Perhaps it was this relaxed atmosphere that allowed the actors to feel at ease. The veteran actors brought their A-game, performing well and making the director’s job smooth sailing.
The spirited newcomers didn’t slack off due to the relaxed environment but went to learn from their seniors with notebooks in hand whenever they had a chance.
The veteran actors, with time on their hands, gave a few pointers, helping the newcomers advance rapidly in their acting skills, which in turn made Director Li’s job even smoother.
The smoother the filming went, the faster the crew’s progress became, unbeknownst to anyone!
Director Li had made many films before and had developed a set of methods for coaching actors. Seeing the progress was pleasing, he decisively offered encouragement—time off!
True to form, the moment Director Li mentioned "time off," the seated actors all perked up, their spirits and demeanor improving slightly from before.
But He Jinxia hadn’t noticed any of this since the man in the golden helmet and silver armor appeared, she couldn’t help but fix her gaze on him.
