Chapter 167: Just Cherishing Talent
Chapter 167: Chapter 167: Just Cherishing Talent
He Jinxia’s performance of the ancient dance was different from ordinary ancient dances. Though the movements were the same, the flavor different people infused into them varied greatly.
Every move was meant to seduce. Yet in her execution, there was a hazy, alluring beauty—
Her lips were red as flame, her skin as white as lard. Whose heart had she ensnared?
Before long, the dance reached its crucial moment, He Jinxia fell onto the Jin Country Envoy, grabbing his hand and placing it on her dress’s straps.
As if bewitched, the Jin Country Envoy pulled on the straps.
Su Qingwan’s garments slid off, revealing the fiery red dance costume underneath. She smiled seductively at the envoy, then with a light shift, she left his embrace, continuing to dance and leap, like a fluttering fire butterfly.
"Wonderful!" Director Li couldn’t help exclaiming, not stinting his words of praise, "The dance is beautiful; she has a good appearance, strong camera presence, and a grasp of the ’seductive’ quality better than I imagined. Director Gu, you have a fine actress!"
Gu Qiao’s usually solemn face couldn’t help but smile as he said, "Jinxia is a very surprising actress. Director Li might not know, but this is only her second time acting in a film, and her first time in a television drama with me."
Director Li had heard of He Jinxia, also known as the Fat Emperor, famous for shedding eighty pounds.
If every star had her kind of unwavering determination, there would be no telling how many good actors and singers there would be in the entertainment circle.
Director Li said with a chuckle, "The Dong Family’s young lady has found a treasure indeed. A single scene can reveal an actor’s skills, and He Jinxia’s skills are certainly not low."
Sheng Yan had been watching He Jinxia below, observing the smile on her face as she danced, how she portrayed the complex emotions of love and hate while leaning into another man’s embrace, and how she fully brought the character of Su Qingwan to life. Suddenly he said, "It’s not enough."
At his words, both directors were startled.
Thinking Sheng Yan was saying He Jinxia’s performance was not yet good enough, Gu Qiao spoke up on her behalf, "For a newcomer, He Jinxia’s performance is already very impressive."
Sheng Yan withdrew his gaze and said indifferently, "Director Gu misunderstood. I didn’t mean her acting was bad. In period dramas, Jinxia could carry a lead role and support the entire show with ease. She is a genius born for period dramas."
Despite the casual tone, his words granted He Jinxia the highest honor.
If anyone else had said this, the two directors would not have believed it. But coming from Sheng Yan, a genius actor himself, they couldn’t help but ponder his words deeply.
Thinking about something, Director Li asked, "Are you implying her contemporary drama performances are not good?"
Sheng Yan shook his head, speaking on her behalf, "It’s not that they are not good, but that they still need refining."
Looking at him with a chuckle, Director Li said, "That’s quite a high evaluation. What, have you taken a liking to this young lady?"
Not just a liking, but a crush so intense~
But how could he possibly say such a thing openly? Sheng Yan’s heart churned like a stormy sea, yet his face remained calmly composed as he turned, leaving the two directors with his back, and coldly uttered four words:
"Simply cherishing talent."

In the evening, He Jinxia finished work on time and returned to the hotel.
As soon as she arrived at the hotel, Cheng Xiaohua hurried her to sit down and lifted her trousers to see if her ankle had swollen any further.
He Jinxia had injured her left ankle, which was actually a relatively fortunate injury, as most of the demanding movements in dancing usually relied on pushing off with the right foot. The left foot did not bear as much weight.
"Oh, after putting on the ointment, who knows how it’s really doing. Now it looks just a little swollen," Cheng Xiaohua said.
He Jinxia stretched out her hand and touched the ointment, feeling a bit of pain, which appeared to have worsened since it was first treated.
However, she didn’t want Cheng Xiaohua to worry too much, so she said, "It’s already much better, not that painful anymore, it’s nothing, I will change the ointment after a bath tonight, and I guess it will be fine by tomorrow."
Cheng Xiaohua hesitantly asked, "Are you really okay?"
He Jinxia urged her to leave quickly, "I’m really okay, why would I lie to you? Hurry up and go rest!"
As it turned out, Jinxia was no longer the soft, cute, and honest good Jinxia of the past. Cheng Xiaohua was deceived by He Jinxia’s previously calm and steady demeanor, thinking that when she said she was fine, she truly was, and after giving some instructions, she left the hotel.
But how could He Jinxia be okay? Not only was there an issue, but it was a serious one!
After taking a bath, He Jinxia removed the ointment and found that the area that had been red was now starting to turn purple, and it hurt to the touch, swollen more than before.
He Jinxia took out a special oil used for treating severe bruises, poured some into her palm, and despite the pain, started rubbing it on her ankle.
After massaging for a while, suddenly, the doorbell rang.
Without putting weight on her left foot, she hopped on her right to the door to open it.
Once the door opened, Luo Dingxin came into view.
Luo Dingxin was in casual clothes, without a mask, and just a hat pulled low over his face. Even standing right in front of her, He Jinxia could barely see his face, just a head with a hat on it.
He Jinxia recognized it was Luo Dingxin from his voice.
Luo Dingxin said in a suppressed voice, "Is your foot any better?"
He Jinxia was slightly taken aback and then responded with a gentle tone, "A bit better, thank you for your concern."
Luo Dingxin slightly raised his head, his gaze intense as he looked at her, "It’s gotten worse, hasn’t it? You’re not putting any weight on your left leg."
He Jinxia, still keeping her left leg lifted, upon hearing this, lowered her leg and said with a smile, "Brother Dingxin, don’t worry, I guarantee you will see me hopping around on set tomorrow."
Luo Dingxin took out a bottle of medicinal oil from his pocket and handed it to He Jinxia, "This is the oil I frequently use when I sprain something. It works quite well; take it."
He Jinxia did not reach out to take it.
She looked at Luo Dingxin steadily, shook her head, and spoke with firm resolve, "No need, Brother Dingxin, I’ve already got a bottle of medicinal oil."
Luo Dingxin’s expression momentarily froze, a mix of embarrassment and loss crossing his face. He said softly, "Just take it, don’t overthink it, consider it concern from a senior to a junior."
He quickly pushed the bottle into He Jinxia’s hand, turned, and left without waiting for an answer, his departing figure exuding a tinge of desolation.
He Jinxia looked at the retreating Luo Dingxin, then down at the bottle of medicinal oil in her hand, her expression slightly darkened. In the end, she shook her head and closed the door.
Her refusal had been plain enough; Luo Dingxin, with his years in the entertainment circle, couldn’t possibly misunderstand the implicit meaning behind her words just now. At worst, she would just keep her distance from him in the future.
Luo Dingxin didn’t know what he was feeling; he just wanted to leave quickly. After entering the elevator, he pressed a floor number and hit the close door button.
Just as the elevator door was about to close, leaving only a crack, a black silhouette appeared from outside. Luo Dingxin caught a glimpse, his heart skipped a beat, and he quickly pressed the open door button.
But it was too late. The elevator door closed firmly and started ascending to the selected floor.
