Fang Sijie drove Ye Qiu and Yinyin to school. In the car, Yinyin was very happy because this time, at the parent-teacher meeting, it wasn’t just her mom accompanying her.

Lengthy and preachy lectures made it snooze-inducing, but fortunately, it ended after one hour.

"I’ve noticed there’s a lack of understanding and communication between parents and children nowadays, so today we are going to play a game to increase communication between parents and their children," said the homeroom teacher.

Hearing there was a game, many children’s eyes lit up, but the parents showed expressions of dismay, though no one stood out to refuse cooperation.

The game was simple—tie the child’s foot to the parent’s, and run forward together. Whichever family ran the fastest would win.

So, Yinyin stood in the middle, with Ye Qiu on one side and Fang Sijie on the other, their feet tied together, ready at the starting line.

With the teacher’s start signal, many families set off. It was a game requiring tacit cooperation, and within five minutes, several families had already taken tumbles.

This simple game was too easy for Ye Qiu, but Fang Sijie appeared rather clumsy, and they advanced slowly.

However, as more and more people overtook them, Yinyin was not having it and wanted to catch up.

So they sped up, but before they had gone a meter, Yinyin stumbled and was about to fall. Ye Qiu immediately wrapped his arm around her to steady her but apparently forgot that their three feet were tied together. Ye Qiu promptly secured Yinyin and then quickly turned his body to the side, reaching out his large hand, and Fang Sijie was suddenly embraced in his arms.

"Thank you," Fang Sijie breathed a sigh of relief, having really been startled for a moment. Falling down was not a big deal, but, of course, it was better not to fall if possible.

"No problem," Ye Qiu smiled.

"Let’s hurry up, someone is about to overtake us," Yinyin urged.

"Alright, let’s take first place." Ye Qiu ruffled Yinyin’s hair, and the three of them advanced together.

Initially awkward, now the three lifted their feet and landed together, their movements becoming increasingly synchronized.

In the end, the three cooperated smoothly, overtaking all the other parents.

However, in the final sprint towards the finish line, a little incident still occurred.

Fang Sijie’s foot twisted all of a sudden, thankfully Ye Qiu reacted quickly and caught Fang Sijie once again.

It seemed that in his urgency, Ye Qiu used too much force, resulting in Fang Sijie being pulled back only to collide with Ye Qiu’s body, and suddenly, both of them fell to the ground.

On the way home, Yinyin, exhausted, fell asleep. Fang Sijie glanced at Ye Qiu through the rearview mirror, their eyes met, and then she quickly looked away.

She was somewhat afraid to look at Ye Qiu.

Ye Qiu had to get off the car abruptly.

Ye Qiu got into another car and drove off, Fang Sijie took a deep breath, glanced at her daughter Yinyin, and then continued driving home.

In her sleep, Yinyin mumbled the word ’daddy’, and even dreamt aloud about Brother Ye Qiu, making Fang Sijie’s feelings extremely complicated.

Ye Qiu was picked up by Mr. Jiang’s personal bodyguard, a middle-aged man, and was quickly brought back to the compound.

Upon meeting Mr. Jiang, Ye Qiu asked what was the matter, to which Mr. Jiang said, "There’s an important gala tonight, and the higher-ups would like you to make an appearance."

Hmm?

"It’s a good opportunity for you, because many influential figures from Capital City will be attending the gala," Mr. Jiang spoke earnestly.

"Oh? That does seem worth checking out." Ye Qiu’s eyes twinkled, curious about the nature of these so-called influential figures.
