Chapter 800: 0800 Elder Mr. Jiang! (Second Update)
For a moment, Ye Qiu was completely immobile, causing the young officer to furrow his brow as he said indifferently, "Are you thinking of resisting arrest?"
Ye Qiu didn’t speak; his eyes were fixed on the entrance of the courtyard where an elderly man stood looking around.
"Excuse me, is Mr. Ye here?" the old man asked, breaking the standoff between Ye Qiu and the young officer.
Xu Shaohua’s gaze shifted. Where did this old guy come from, and who was he looking for here?
Seeing that no one answered, the elder and the middle-aged man behind him walked in. The elder glanced at everyone, unsure which one was Mr. Ye he was looking for.
"Ye Qiu, if you choose to resist arrest, it’s the same as defying the law, and you should be aware of the consequences." The young officer ignored the elder who had just walked in. With a shift of his glance, the policemen behind him surrounded Ye Qiu, all armed.
This was Xu Shaohua’s recommendation; if they didn’t bring weapons, they really might not be able to handle Ye Qiu, given the frightening strength he had witnessed in him before.
But as long as Ye Qiu was surrounded by firearms, he didn’t believe Ye Qiu could turn the tables.
Upon hearing the young officer speaking to the young man across from him and saying the name, the elder immediately looked towards Ye Qiu, his face lighting up, and he quickly approached, asking, "Are you Mr. Ye?"
"I am Ye Qiu. Are you Mr. Jiang?" Ye Qiu replied.
The elder nodded vigorously, relieved to have found Ye Qiu, although the current predicament of Ye Qiu made him frown.
"Officer, may I know what crime Mr. Ye has committed that warrants his arrest?" Mr. Jiang asked.
"We received a report that he is suspected of murder, and we are taking him back for interrogation," the young officer replied.
Mr. Jiang was startled; he was aware of Ye Qiu’s reputation and couldn’t believe Ye Qiu would kill someone without reason. He then asked, "Do you have both the witness and the evidence?"
"Naturally."
"Then please present them, or else I won’t allow you to take Mr. Ye," Mr. Jiang insisted.
Xu Shaohua was angered by the elder’s audacity to disrupt the situation. Was this old man here just to throw his weight around?
He took a step forward and said, "I witnessed it with my own eyes; he was the murderer."
Mr. Jiang asked, "Did only you see it? Who was the victim? Have you thoroughly investigated their background?"
Thinking of the victim, Xu Shaohua’s face tightened. He was well aware that those three Indian masters were hardly saints, notoriously infamous as assassins internationally. Although their careers were short-lived, their notoriety was significant.
Seeing Xu Shaohua fall silent, Mr. Jiang continued, "If you can’t even clarify the identity of the victim and yet proceed to make an arrest, is this how the police of Wushan City operate?"
The young officer was well aware of the details of the case and immediately said, "We don’t have the authority to disclose this matter. Individuals unrelated to the case also don’t have the right to interfere. You’d better not ask any more questions, or I will suspect your involvement and take you both to the station."
"How dare you!" Before Mr. Jiang could speak, the middle-aged man behind him stepped forward and bellowed, his voice booming like a large bell, resonating painfully in everyone’s ears.
Ye Qiu was slightly startled. He could tell that the middle-aged man following Mr. Jiang was a practitioner, quite skilled, at least at the True Qi level. Now he was even more curious about Mr. Jiang. Who was he really, to have a True Qi master following him like a bodyguard? Such strength, even within martial circles, must be significant. Yet here he was, acting as someone’s bodyguard.
Ye Qiu grew even more curious about the identity of the person who had brought Mr. Jiang to him.
The elderly man waved his hand, causing the middle-aged man to retreat slightly. The older man with the surname Jiang then said, "Your evidence is insufficient, and you haven’t even properly investigated the identity of the deceased. You’re just trying to arrest people at random, and it seems like a deliberate targeting of Mr. Ye. Today, as long as I am here, you won’t take Mr. Ye away."
"Old man, do you want to be arrested too?" Xu Shaohua shouted from the side. Seeing that Ye Qiu was about to be arrested which would make it easier for him to make Ye Qiu suffer once inside the station—as he could manipulate him as he wished—the sudden appearance of this elderly man ruined his plans.
Swish.
The middle-aged man appeared in front of Xu Shaohua before anyone knew it, lifting him with one hand by the neck, causing his face to turn crimson.
The young police officer, seeing Xu Shaohua grasped in the man’s hand, was startled and immediately drew his weapon, pointing it at the middle-aged man and saying, "Put him down immediately, or I will take you in as well."
The middle-aged man gave a wry smile, which full of scorn. Seeing the man’s arrogance, the young officer aimed to strike the middle-aged man’s arm, but in a blur before his eyes and a pain in his arm, his weapon flew out. Both he and Xu Shaohua were lifted into the air, ending up in the same plight, suspended in mid-air.
Swish, swish, swish.
At this, the officers who were initially surrounding Ye Qiu pointed their weapons at the middle-aged man, ready for combat.
"Scoundrel, you dare assault a police officer!" the young officer berated the middle-aged man, but his words only made the middle-aged man tighten his grip, making it even harder for him to breathe. He squirmed desperately, in extreme discomfort.
"Let them go," the elderly Mr. Jiang finally spoke. Upon hearing this, the middle-aged man dropped Xu Shaohua and the young officer to the ground, who fell in a very disheveled state.
Mr. Jiang walked up to them and said, "This is not over. The police officers of Wushan City carry great authority, boldly drawing their weapons at every turn. It seems they need a good rectification."
Hearing Mr. Jiang still sounding justified, both Xu Shaohua and the young officer were incredibly angry.
The young officer immediately pulled out his phone to report to his superior and requested reinforcements.
"Old man, don’t you go anywhere. You just wait," Xu Shaohua yelled from the side.
The middle-aged man’s gaze flashed, frightening Xu Shaohua into hastily backing away. This person was terrifying, prone to violence at any disagreement.
Mr. Jiang said, "Don’t worry, I won’t leave. It would be best if you could bring your immediate supervisors to see me. I want to see who dares to arrest me."
In less than ten minutes, a large number of officers poured into the Lin family courtyard, and a middle-aged officer in uniform walked in. Seeing him, the young officer immediately rushed up and whispered in his ear. The middle-aged officer approached Mr. Jiang and said, "Sir, your man has assaulted a police officer, please come with us."
"You want to take me too?" Mr. Jiang suddenly laughed, but it was a cold laugh.
Seeing this, the middle-aged officer frowned slightly, perceiving Mr. Jiang’s extraordinary demeanor and realizing he was no ordinary person. He promptly changed his approach, "As long as you do not interfere with our arrest, you might not need to go to the station."
However, Mr. Jiang flatly said, "I will handle this matter."
Then, Mr. Jiang took out his cell phone, dialed a number, and began talking in front of everyone.
Soon, the middle-aged officer’s phone rang, and everyone saw him being scolded by the voice on the other end of the call, his expression changing immediately.
The middle-aged officer then walked up to Mr. Jiang, bowed deeply, and said, "Please forgive me, Mr. Jiang. I was blind, not recognizing who you were. The chief asks that you wait a moment; he will come to meet you immediately."
This change in the middle-aged officer immediately caused Xu Shaohua and the young officer to show surprise.
They realized that Mr. Jiang’s identity must be significant, with even the chief personally coming over.
