Chapter 780: 0780 Love You but Hard to Express! (Second Update)
This world is too crazy, Ye Qiu had become a General, Lin Qiao’er thought she must be dreaming and immediately pinched herself hard to wake up.
Her arm hurt, but the scene in front of her hadn’t changed, still inside Director Wang’s office.
"Officer Lin, release General Ye immediately, make sure your attitude is gentle," Director Wang said.
"But what about the murder he committed?" Lin Qiao’er tried to say more.
Director Wang waved his hand and said, "You need not worry about that anymore, I’ll make a detailed report about this matter to the higher-ups. Just do your job."
"Oh, and by the way, General Ye’s identity is confidential. Across the entire nation, very few people are aware of it, and you must not disclose his identity randomly, do you understand?"
Lin Qiao’er nodded, "Understood," before she finally left the office.
Director Wang sighed heavily and said, "This girl is good in every way, just too stubborn. She finally got a hold on Ye Qiu, wanting to vent out, but now his status is even higher than mine; he’s not someone our Capital City Police can touch, and besides, he only killed a terrorist."
"Young people are too impulsive these days. I still need to discipline this girl more often, lest she brings me any trouble."
Creak.
Opening the door, Lin Qiao’er had a stern face as she said to Ye Qiu, "You can leave now." She certainly didn’t follow Director Wang’s instruction about being gentle—in her eyes, Ye Qiu was nothing but a complete jerk, even if he had once assisted her, he was still a jerk, not any General.
She even suspected that Ye Qiu had bought this identity for a high price.
Ye Qiu, unaware of Lin Qiao’er’s wild thoughts, raised his hands in front of her and smiled, "Could you, Officer Lin, please remove these handcuffs?"
Lin Qiao’er deftly pulled out the key, gave a gentle twist, and with a snap, Ye Qiu’s hands were freed from the handcuffs. He straightened his clothes and said, "Officer Lin, I’m afraid I’ve disappointed you again."
Hearing the slight smug tone in Ye Qiu’s voice, Lin Qiao’er held her head high and huffed, "I am a servant of the people and must act according to the law, I can neither let a criminal go free nor wrong an innocent person."
"So am I a criminal or an innocent person?" Ye Qiu asked with a smile.
"You are a criminal," Lin Qiao’er said without hesitation.
"Then you should have kept me handcuffed instead of releasing me," Ye Qiu said with a smirky smile.
Was Ye Qiu still arguing with her? Was this guy intentionally provoking her?
Lin Qiao’er huffed, "Are you leaving or not? If you don’t leave now, I’ll make you stay here overnight."
"If this place were your boudoir, Officer Lin, I’d absolutely agree to your idea of staying here overnight," Ye Qiu laughed loudly and walked out of the interrogation room.
Wei Zidong and the guy next to him couldn’t help but snicker. The formidable Officer Lin also had her down moments, which was quite rare.
"Instructor Ye is indeed fierce; only he dares to tease Officer Lin. If it were anyone else, they’d have been chased off by Officer Lin," the guy commented from the side.
Wei Zidong expressed his agreement.
"Are you two idle? Get back to work," Lin Qiao’er saw the two smirking and immediately said coldly.
After speaking, she slammed the interrogation room door with a bang.
"You, stop."
Ye Qiu had just walked a short distance from the police station when Lin Qiao’er called out to him.
"Officer Lin, is there something else?" Ye Qiu turned and said. He had subdued violence to maintain peace, yet had been taken to the police station, which left him a bit disgruntled. He suspected the reason he was released was due to his latest identity.
After all, the military rank conferred by the top authorities left the Capital City police with no way to hold him.
"Can’t I call you if there’s nothing wrong?" Lin Qiao’er huffed.
This policewoman always carried herself with pride, never soft or sweet, just a pure firecracker, making her hard to approach.
"What, does Officer Lin want to give me an Outstanding Citizen Award? If that’s the case, I’ll pass. Helping others is the source of happiness, and I, Ye Qiu, do not crave fame or fortune, just a life of satisfaction."
Listening to Ye Qiu boast so shamelessly, Lin Qiao’er was somewhat speechless; this guy’s skin was incredibly thick.
"Okay, I asked you out to dinner, will you go?" Lin Qiao’er cut him off directly.
"Dinner? Actually, I’m quite busy. The number of beauties who want to take me out could stretch from Capital City to Capital City. I don’t just go with anyone who asks, of course— I do have to honor Officer Lin’s invitation, but, I’m a bit tired today..." Ye Qiu started his self-aggrandizing all over again.
Lin Qiao’er rolled her eyes and said, "Never mind, forget I asked."
With that, she walked ahead.
"Hey, wait up! Is it lobster or abalone? I’ve been in poor health recently— I really need to boost my energy, and I can’t decline Officer Lin’s invitation..." Ye Qiu hurriedly followed her.
The two sat at a table, and Ye Qiu couldn’t help scratching his head; Officer Lin, of all people, had invited him for hot and spicy soup.
Yes, the legendary hot and spicy soup that hits you thirteen times over.
"Is Officer Lin hinting at something?" Ye Qiu’s eyes darted around.
Lin Qiao’er frowned and asked, "What are you looking at?"
"Nothing, nothing," Ye Qiu laughed.
Lin Qiao’er seemed particularly fond of hot and spicy soup as a snack, consuming a whole large bowl, while Ye Qiu didn’t touch a bite. These days, he had little appetite for food, having to spend time later getting rid of the waste after consuming any grains or cereals.
After leaving the small eatery, they walked to a square and sat down on a bench.
"Ye Qiu, I want to know what exactly you do. Can you tell me?" Lin Qiao’er finally posed the question she wanted to know.
"You should know that I’m just a bodyguard, nothing beyond my skills. Everything else is quite ordinary," Ye Qiu said with a smile.
Lin Qiao’er was frustrated, "I’m not talking about that. I mean your real identity... I don’t believe you’re just a bodyguard."
"What are you trying to say, Officer Lin?" Ye Qiu couldn’t help but look into Lin Qiao’er’s eyes. "Since you already know my identity, why ask?"
"Because I don’t believe you could have that kind of status. In the history of China, no one your age has ever been awarded such honors," Lin Qiao’er stood and said.
Ye Qiu remained seated, watching Lin Qiao’er’s somewhat excited demeanor and calmly smiled, "History is meant to be broken. Just because something hasn’t happened before doesn’t mean it will never happen."
Ye Qiu’s words left Lin Qiao’er speechless.
"Alright, Officer Lin, you know what you wanted to know now. If there’s nothing else, I’m going to take off," Ye Qiu said with a yawn.
"That’s all," Lin Qiao’er muttered softly.
As Ye Qiu walked away slowly, Lin Qiao’er watched his retreating figure, wishing she could ask, "Where have you been all this time? Are you doing well?"
