Chapter 500: 0501 Unconvinced! (Second Update)
Bang!!!
A massive sound exploded five meters away from the crowd, like thunder crashing to the ground.
Hard clods mixed with snow scattered in all directions, kicking up a cloud of dust. Amidst the shock, the crowd could clearly see the face of the figure who had leaped from above.
He wasn’t particularly handsome, but his features were sharply defined, his pupils dark as ink, like black holes in the depths of the universe, trapping anyone who gazed into them.
What was most shocking was that the face of this new instructor was remarkably young, seemingly only a year or two older than anyone present, nearly a peer.
Incredible!
Young and extraordinarily skilled, was this the instructor who was going to train them?
Seeing Ye Qiu approach, everyone held their breath, even though Zidong’s mind was still immersed in the scene of Ye Qiu’s entrance.
Thirty-plus meters high, at least the height of a ten-story building, and this man had landed from that height, unscathed, standing before them like Superman.
Fierce!
The word inevitably came to everyone’s mind, the only word that seemed apt to describe the man before them.
Lin Qiao’er was truly startled by Ye Qiu’s entrance, and when she saw the figure on the high rock, she realized that Ye Qiu hadn’t been late, but had actually arrived quite early.
"Cough, cough... sorry, I was so engrossed in my practice that I made you wait." Ye Qiu broke the silence, instantly bringing everyone back to their senses.
Lin Qiao’er gathered her composure and calmly walked up to Ye Qiu, saying to everyone, "This is your new instructor, Ye Qiu, Instructor Ye."
Mentioning Ye Qiu’s name, everyone suddenly understood, committing the name to memory.
Ye Qiu’s entrance had amazed many, including those who had previously spoken slightingly of him, who now dared not continue their gossip.
However, after a brief moment of distraction, Zidong still planned to test Ye Qiu’s skills. In his mind, Ye Qiu’s entrance was very impressive, even awesome, but if he had calculated the spot in advance and given that the snow on the ground was thick, he didn’t exclude the possibility that others might also be capable of what Ye Qiu had done.
Strength is not something that can be proven by a single display; it must be verified in real combat, with true skills, only then can one be considered a strong contender, worthy of training them.
Simply put, Zidong was not convinced!
He couldn’t believe that someone of his age, like Ye Qiu, was qualified to train him. Back when he started at the police academy, he had won numerous first-place titles, whether in endurance competitions, disassembling and assembling firearms, shooting, or grappling; he had always been among the top three.
To make him wholeheartedly follow Ye Qiu’s training, he needed to be conquered by real strength.
Wei Zidong’s thoughts were fully apparent on his face as he stepped forward and declared, "Instructor Ye’s aerial flip and landing just now were indeed stylish, and I admit, even among my comrades, few can accomplish that. However, it’s merely a clever use of strength. As long as one manages their body’s center of gravity and quickly unloads their weight upon landing, anyone can perform like Instructor Ye. Thus, relying on that move alone to impress us hardly proves your qualification to train us."
"Wei Zidong, are you questioning Instructor Ye’s qualifications? He was recommended by me to the director, and since the director approved it, it means the director recognizes Instructor Ye’s capabilities. By doubting Instructor Ye, aren’t you also questioning the director’s decision?" Seeing the others nodding silently to Wei Zidong’s words, Lin Qiao’er instantly understood that Wei Zidong wanted to test Ye Qiu’s skills. With Ye Qiu’s skills, even ten Wei Zidongs wouldn’t stand a chance against him.
She said this to protect Wei Zidong, afraid that he would be killed by a punch from Ye Qiu. The director had explicitly stated that individuals like Ye Qiu from the martial arts world could only be threatened by firearms. Special forces and martial arts practitioners stood no chance against him.
Lin Qiao’er herself had been skeptical until she accompanied the director to visit a hermit. There, she had seen with her own eyes how an elderly man, nearly eighty years old, could scrunch a steel plate into a ball with just a pinch. The old man had claimed that his strength, in the grand scheme of the martial arts world, was just a drop in the ocean, not worth mentioning.
Since that moment, Lin Qiao’er had realized how terrifying Ye Qiu, seemingly young but actually a low-profile martial arts master, truly was.
Lin Qiao’er was looking out for Wei Zidong’s best interest, but to Wei Zidong, it seemed like Lin Qiao’er was protecting Ye Qiu, fearing he would tarnish Ye Qiu’s authority as an instructor.
Turning his gaze, Wei Zidong looked at Ye Qiu and said, "Instructor Ye, as an instructor, you can’t always remain silent and be protected by a woman, right?"
Lin Qiao’er was silently furious, uncertain whether the new police officer Wei Zidong was doing this on purpose. Why was he trying to provoke Ye Qiu? After all, she was only protecting Ye Qiu because she feared Ye Qiu might harm him.
Lin Qiao’er, fearful that Ye Qiu would react angrily and possibly kill Wei Zidong, was surprised to see that Ye Qiu’s expression was not displeased; instead, he was smiling. This made Lin Qiao’er’s eyebrows furrow even more tightly, feeling that such a smile from Ye Qiu was even more fearsome.
Ye Qiu slowly lifted his eyelids, his eyes calm and unblemished, and said lightly, "It seems you doubt whether I have the qualifications to train you all. Very well, how would you like me to prove my strength?"
Wei Zidong smiled slightly. Ye Qiu’s words were exactly what he wanted to hear. Straightening his chest, his eyes glinting, he said, "I want to challenge you. Although I am not the strongest here, if you defeat me, I’ll acknowledge you. I will train however you want. Do you dare accept my challenge?"
Lin Qiao’er silently sighed. Wei Zidong was recklessly throwing himself into the line of fire by challenging Ye Qiu. Even if Wei Zidong had been exceptional during police academy, how could he compare to a martial arts master? Even with a firearm, you would hardly be a match.
Ye Qiu watched Wei Zidong, observing the bright glint in his eyes and his eagerness for battle. Suddenly, he asked, "Is this the consensus among all of you?"
Scanning the rest of the group, despite only Wei Zidong bravely stepping forward to challenge him, Ye Qiu could see in their eyes that they harbored doubts about his capabilities.
Silence.
A few individuals nodded, responding to Ye Qiu’s inquiry.
Wei Zidong’s face was openly triumphant. After a moment, Ye Qiu exhaled softly and chuckled, "Alright, since you all want to know about my strength, then I shall test my skills against you."
"Haha, good, I, Wei Zidong, really want to learn from Instructor Ye," Wei Zidong laughed heartily.
Ye Qiu stood in place and stated plainly, "Attack at will. If you can make me move even a step, you win, and I will voluntarily resign as instructor."
Upon hearing this, everyone was taken aback, some even cupped their ears, wondering if they had heard wrong. Just making him move a bit would count as a win for the other side? Was he truly capable, or just arrogantly overconfident?
Wei Zidong wanted to laugh aloud. This so-called Instructor Ye was too conceited. Thinking that moving just a step would mean his loss, was he underestimating Wei Zidong too much? With a cold look in his eyes, Wei Zidong said, "I will not only make you move a step, but ten or a hundred steps if possible!"
