Chapter 476: 0477 A Girl’s Heart (Third Update)

Fang Sijie’s home was located in a moderately upscale housing estate, where the infrastructure was fairly complete. Besides the slightly old age of the estate, there were no apparent flaws.

"Capital City’s property prices are expensive; I bought this place temporarily for us to live in," Fang Sijie said, noticing Ye Qiu’s gaze lingering on a somewhat rudimentary staircase and explained.

Women ultimately wanted to show their most radiant side to others, whether it was their own beauty or the elegance of their living environment. They didn’t want to leave anyone with a bad impression.

This had nothing to do with Ye Qiu, but merely stemmed from the pride of a woman who held herself in high regard.

This was Yinyin’s first visit here; every year, it was Fang Sijie who traveled to Zhongshan City to see her, staying with her for a few days before leaving. Hence, Yinyin was equally curious about her mother’s home.

Yet seeing her mother’s living conditions were not as good as her own made Yinyin’s little face turn slightly unhappy; she did not want her mom to have a bad life.

With a simple mind, Fang Sijie didn’t think much about it, unaware that Yinyin was feeling distressed.

However, once upstairs, Fang Sijie pointed to a room and said, "Yinyin, this is the room Mom prepared for you, inside there are toys you played with when you were little, and all sorts of clothes."

Yinyin’s mood soon improved. Her mom still loved her after all, and she was keeping the toys she had played with as a child.

With that thought in mind, Yinyin immediately pushed the door open and ran inside. The small room was very clean and tidy, filled with various things Yinyin had used before.

"Ye Qiu, please take a seat on the sofa, I’ll go get you a glass of water," Fang Sijie said and then went back to her room to change her clothes.

Ye Qiu surveyed the simple yet cozy cottage. It wasn’t lavishly decorated, and all the furnishings and furniture seemed very plain.

A few fashion magazines and business books were neatly placed on the coffee table. Ye Qiu guessed that a woman like Fang Sijie, who could keep her home this clean and tidy, must be a good wife and mother. However, from what Yinyin had told him, her parents were divorced. It was hard to believe that any man could bear to leave such a woman; Ye Qiu didn’t know what more he could possibly want.

Fang Sijie, having changed her clothes, instantly transformed from a business elite to what seemed like a housewife.

But Ye Qiu’s eyes lit up. The simple casual wear, almost no makeup, nearly bare-faced, this version of Fang Sijie did not carry the initial aloofness that made her hard to approach; on the contrary, her temperament now made her seem more approachable.

Fang Sijie, like a transformed person, brought Ye Qiu a cup of hot water and indicated for him to make himself at home, not to feel too restrained.

"I’ll go down to buy some groceries in a while, you stay and keep Yinyin company for a bit," Fang Sijie instructed, then walked down the stairs in flat shoes.

Ye Qiu took a sip of water, stood up, and went to see Yinyin, only to find her nostalgically handling a broken toy, tilting her little head, recalling how she had broken it.

However, Ye Qiu noticed that although the little girl was quite fond of these toys, she would put them back exactly where they were after picking them up.

He saw a hint of maturity in Yinyin’s eyes. Ever since she started martial arts training, Yinyin’s personality had shifted from being lively and wild to being much quieter. Seeing her now, Ye Qiu couldn’t help but feel the little girl had grown up.

Maybe it was because of the martial arts, or perhaps it was because she had been kidnapped by Li Shanhai, but all in all, Yinyin’s growth was a good thing.

After checking out her own little room, Yinyin pulled Ye Qiu towards her mom’s room.

Without thinking too much, Ye Qiu just followed Yinyin, entering Fang Sijie’s room together.

As soon as the door opened, Ye Qiu was taken aback, but Yinyin stood with her mouth open in amazement.

"So much pink!" Yinyin exclaimed in surprise.

Ye Qiu had never expected Fang Sijie’s room to look like this, with pink wallpaper, a pink wardrobe, and a pink quilt. Huh? There were even pink bras!

Ye Qiu quickly averted his gaze, no longer looking at the embarrassing item of lingerie, but Yinyin joyfully picked up a large pink bear from the bed, visibly delighted.

All pink.

Ye Qiu, the country bumpkin, had never seen such a sight. Although his martial skills made many people tremble in fear, it was his first time in a woman’s room.

He could not associate the all-pink scene before him with Fang Sijie at all.

Fang Sijie was clearly not in her twenties anymore, probably over thirty, yet her room was filled with cute and playful pink, leaving Ye Qiu with nothing but surprise.

A mature woman in her thirties had decorated her room in colors favored by teenage girls, causing Ye Qiu’s mind to surmise that Fang Sijie must possess the heart of a young girl.

It was best not to stay in Fang Sijie’s room any longer, Ye Qiu felt that it would be awkward for both of them if Fang Sijie were to see him there.

Ye Qiu had Yinyin put the big pink bear in its place and led her out of the room.

Although Yinyin was reluctant, she listened obediently to Ye Qiu, nodding her head and doing as he said.

They hadn’t been out for three minutes when Fang Sijie pushed open the door and returned, carrying quite a few vegetables in her hands.

Fang Sijie wanted to cook two dishes for Yinyin, but unfortunately, being seldom in the kitchen, she soon had the kitchen smoking and clanging. Seeing this, Ye Qiu stepped in, according to Yinyin, Ye Qiu was an excellent chef who made dishes Yinyin loved most.

Fang Sijie looked embarrassedly at Ye Qiu for a moment and decided to let him do the cooking.

Half an hour later, four stir-fried dishes were ready. Niu Yinyin proactively carried the plates to the dining table. Fang Sijie sniffed the quality of Ye Qiu’s cooking and nodded her head. Though she said nothing, she greatly approved of Ye Qiu’s culinary skills internally.

"I’m sorry, I had planned to prepare a meal that Yinyin would enjoy," Fang Sijie said with an apologetic look in her eyes.

Ye Qiu shook his head, "I cook frequently; I know exactly what Yinyin likes to eat."

These words, falling into Fang Sijie’s ears, greatly enhanced her perception of Ye Qiu, showing that Yinyin hadn’t been short of meals cooked by him.

"Thank you," Fang Sijie said.

"Heh, that’s the fifth thank-you I’ve heard today; you’re too polite," Ye Qiu laughed, improving the atmosphere between them considerably.

After dinner, Yinyin, patting her full stomach, wanted to go to bed.

Ye Qiu was pulled by Yinyin, who insisted that he stay at home, vocally demanding that he not leave.

This distressed Fang Sijie, as there were only two rooms, a large and a small one. The small one was Yinyin’s, obviously not big enough for Ye Qiu to sleep in. But the larger room was her own; to let Ye Qiu sleep in her room? The thought of her belongings and the overpowering pink made Fang Sijie quickly shake her head; it wasn’t appropriate.

If Ye Qiu slept in her room, she’d have nowhere to sleep.

"It’s fine, I’ll sleep on the couch," Ye Qiu, noticing Fang Sijie’s hesitation, volunteered.

Fang Sijie nodded and looked apologetic, "Then, sorry to inconvenience you for the night."

"It’s no trouble at all."

Fang Sijie went back to her room to get a set of bedding for Ye Qiu, and when she handed them to him, Ye Qiu sensed her embarrassment; he immediately recalled the time he and Yinyin had entered Fang Sijie’s room.

Had she found out?

Ye Qiu looked at Fang Sijie, who immediately avoided his gaze. Ye Qiu knew that she must have realized someone had been in her room.

The atmosphere turned somewhat awkward.

Eventually, Fang Sijie broke the silence, "It’s getting late. I’m going to bed, you should too."

Fang Sijie gently closed her room door. Ye Qiu, touching the sofa’s bedding, could still smell a faint fragrance on it; had she used this bedding before?

Yinyin ran to Fang Sijie’s room, wanting to sleep with her mother. Soon, the lights in the room went out, Fang Sijie put her daughter to sleep and her gaze fell on the door. Just outside, there was a man, in her home, under the bedding she had used before.

At that thought, Fang Sijie felt an involuntary surge of shyness, keeping her from falling asleep for a long time.

Unlike Fang Sijie, who eventually drifted into sleep well into the night, Ye Qiu was insomniac throughout!
