Chapter 391: 0390 The Power of Black

He felt like he was facing a completely different person!

The Ye Qiu standing before him differed in both aura and expression from before, and Adam even perceived a trace of disdain in his opponent’s eyes!

He was being looked down upon by someone weaker than him.

No matter what tricks Ye Qiu was playing, or if he deliberately showed such a state just to escape from Adam’s clutches, Adam wasn’t going to let it go.

"Playing the ghost, you still can’t overcome the fact that you’re weaker than me," Adam said with a chuckle as he saw Ye Qiu attempting to counterattack.

How could Adam be afraid when faced with a foe who was exhausted? There and then, his palm flickered as he reached for the sword in Ye Qiu’s hand.

He had long coveted the Kusanagi Sword, and his pursuit was partly fueled by the desire to claim it.

He didn’t wish for the sword in Ye Qiu’s hands to share the same fate as Ye Qiu himself, buried in volcanic magma.

Clang!

Adam’s lion-like palm lightly touched the Kusanagi Sword, sparking as it grazed the blade, intending to knock it away and touch its sharp edge directly.

The sinister smile on Ye Qiu’s face did not fade but grew more pronounced. The Kusanagi Sword quivered, and suddenly, the blade was enveloped by a dark energy, with strands of black mist rapidly spreading outwards.

Hmm?

Adam’s eyes narrowed. He had seen this tactic used by Ye Qiu before, though the mist had been white back then. But now, a dark, murky gas emanated from the sword, quickly enveloping both of them in darkness.

Blackness, silence.

The isolation brought by the black mist this time was quite different compared to before; if previously it simply obscured their presence, now it was as though it isolated an entire world, like throwing a person into the cosmos, surrounded by the vast emptiness of space, with no up or down to orient oneself, giving rise to a sense of helplessness.

Unable to stand this sensation, Adam’s entire demeanor changed instantly, as he began to morph into his beast form, turning into a lion-man standing within the black mist.

Only after transforming into his strongest state did Adam’s unease lessen somewhat. However, he had the feeling that someone was watching him from the dark.

"Such mist was useless against me the first time, and it’s equally useless now. Ye Qiu, don’t even dream of getting out of here alive," echoed Adam’s voice within the volcano.

The black mist obscured his vision, but Adam wasn’t overly concerned; he didn’t believe Ye Qiu could dodge his attack.

Adam’s aura vibrated as he charged forward, constantly striking out with his palms. Bursts of beastly power penetrated the black mist, and the sound of breaking rocks echoed; his attacks failed to hit Ye Qiu.

Undeterred, Adam, having swept one direction, simply continued to sweep the others. Immediately, explosions rang out incessantly, with large chunks of rock falling into the lava, sizzling as they struck.

After attacking in a full circle, Adam remained furrowed in frustration, for he had not encountered Ye Qiu— all his attacks had missed.

Where had the man run off to?

At that thought, Adam suddenly looked up, realizing he had forgotten one direction.

Just then, a surge of Sword Qi swept above him.

Whoosh!

The black Sword Qi, like a black dragon, bit towards Adam in an instant.

Adam withstood it valiantly, pushing his arms forward as the force of the beast dissipated the black mist. He anticipated that this Sword Qi would be repelled just like the mist.

Unexpectedly, the Sword Qi pierced straight into Adam’s arm, immediately covering it in blood.

Having landed a hit, Ye Qiu vanished into the black mist, leaving Adam wounded by the sword strike, exploding in rage.

"I will not rest until you are dead!" Adam swore an oath to kill Ye Qiu.

Unfortunately for him, Ye Qiu came quickly and disappeared just as fast.

His arm was in unbearable pain, but that was nothing to Adam; what mattered most was that the black gas was automatically destroying his body, as if being commanded by someone.

Adam tried to rid himself of the black mist, but when he used his beastly force to expel it, the gas penetrated his body and disappeared without a trace.

The bleeding on his arm stopped, but Adam’s gaze fixated on it, as the flesh there began to rot.

This black gas wielded a terrifying power.

"The gas on you is not True Qi known to us Martial Artists of Huaxia, but rather, an evil energy. You are far from a good person. If the Huaxia martial arts world knew of a devil like you, they would surely cast you out or even kill you," Adam said with conviction. The Ye Qiu that revealed such a form, enveloped in pitch black, hiding within the mist, was certainly no saint.

A devil?

At this moment, with a ghastly smile on his face and surrounded by darkness, Ye Qiu fittingly embodied the title of a devil.

"Today, I will execute this devil about to reveal himself to the world on behalf of the martial arts community of Huaxia. Your talent is impressive, reaching the realm of high True Qi mastery at such a young age. Given a few more years, I might not even be your match," he said.

"But you are ultimately going to die, even in this current form, I still have to kill you."

Adam’s voice echoed once more, clearly aimed at Ye Qiu, who, after one strike, vanished again into hiding.

The two were suspended in mid-air with almost nothing to leverage, and had it not been for the rock walls beside them, they would have fallen into the lava.

Adam held onto the cliff’s rocks with one hand, his eyes revealing a hint of a smile.

His palm rose, then fell sharply.

In almost the blink of an eye, everything around him, centered on the rock wall he was clinging to, had been struck by his punch. This time, he did not believe Ye Qiu could escape it; if he did, that would mean Ye Qiu was literally standing in mid-air.

Adam stood still, waiting for Ye Qiu’s scream of agony, but after a long while, there was still no sound.

Refusing to believe this was happening, Adam wondered, what could Ye Qiu possibly rely on if not the cliffs?

Another flurry of punches swept out, even from above his head, thunk, thunk, thunk...

Besides the sound of shattering rocks, no other noise came.

Then, Ye Qiu’s voice rang out, sometimes distant, sometimes near: "Since you’ve thrown so many punches, perhaps it’s time you tasted mine."

Adam’s eyes shifted just as an extra fist emerged behind him. This punch, appearing abruptly, caught even Adam unaware.

Boom!

The punch landed with the force of striking a mountain; Adam grunted and staggered backward. He only managed to stop when he grabbed hold of a protruding stone.

"Damn you, you insignificant ant, I can’t believe you’ve wounded me again," Adam cursed, touching the wound on his back that had almost pierced through—only his toughened body after transformation saved him; had he been in human form, he would have been gravely injured.

To be injured thrice by someone weaker, Adam felt both frustrated and furious.

As he pondered how to harshly deal with Ye Qiu, he suddenly felt his arms bound and his movements from behind restricted.

"Ye Qiu, you’re courting death!" he caught a glimpse of the man behind him—it was Ye Qiu, expressionless, who had somehow reached his back and locked down his movements with an arm wrap.

Adam exploded with curses, realizing Ye Qiu had done something that drove him utterly insane.

"Madman!" Adam yelled, but Ye Qiu was unmoved. Having restrained Adam, the two of them were now heading straight for the lava.

"How could I die alongside you!" Adam struggled desperately, but no matter how he squirmed, Ye Qiu would not let go, indifferent to his resistance.

Ah!

Adam was frantic, Ye Qiu intended for them to die together, but Adam would not have it; he wasn’t ready to die yet. He directed his beastly strength at Ye Qiu continuously.

Yet no matter how much Adam pressured Ye Qiu to let go, Ye Qiu maintained his stance, refusing to release his grip, as if determined to die together.

Adam kept struggling as they were now less than twenty meters from the lava.

Ten meters!

Even a master like Adam couldn’t help but despair at that moment, held in the death grip of Ye Qiu who was bent on dying with him; he couldn’t break free, Ye Qiu’s arms were like iron hoops, unbreakable.

The distance closed in!

Five meters.

Three meters.

Just as they were about to touch the lava, Ye Qiu’s devilish expression changed; he revealed his teeth, and at the same moment, pushed down with his arms, sending Adam shooting into the lava.

Ah!

Adam screamed as his feet submerged, immediately melting into the lava, his face twisted in excruciating pain.

Adam couldn’t escape; it was too late, and there was nowhere to leverage.

In his life’s final moments, Adam looked at Ye Qiu with bitter resentment. He had anticipated Ye Qiu dying with him, but in the last moment, after shoving him into the lava, Ye Qiu placed his arms on Adam’s shoulders and leapt upward. He then used Adam’s head as a springboard to jump more than twenty meters away.

Adam, overwhelmed by pain and losing his strength, gradually sank into the lava. A pity for such a strong being, with immense terrifying power yet to be unleashed, now swallowed by the lava!
