Chapter 323: Dragon Slaying 0322

The two auras exploded in an instant.

Like detonating a bomb right on the spot, the fierce momentum was unparalleled for a moment.

Sun Ziyan executed Dragon Walks Tiger Steps, his robust True Qi overwhelming and unrivaled as he launched a vicious attack.

Sun Ziyan’s eyes were contemptuous as he wielded the two streams of True Qi in his hands that transformed into true dragons, weaving around his body. With a raise of his hand, the two dragons formed from True Qi opened their mouths wide, spewing a beam of firelight that spiraled towards Ye Qiu.

Hiss...

The firelight burned the air, emitting a crazed crackling sound. The two large dragons twisted their bodies, limbs lifelike, as they treaded the void, resembling divine beings.

The surrounding martial artists widened their eyes; what kind of move was this? It was too terrifying.

The technique before them had surpassed human imagination—a person not only managed to cultivate True Qi but was also able to transform it into dragons and spit fire. Such feats were surely only within the realm of gods.

"Inhuman!" An exclamation rang out, voicing the thoughts of many.

The stunned crowd wiped their eyes, eager to see how Ye Qiu would defend himself. He had dared to challenge the fourth-ranked powerhouse, and the latter’s display of strength was nearly at the level of Divinity Transformation. Could he withstand it?

Many people showed concern for Ye Qiu, especially Shangguan Mingyue, who at this moment cared not for research, but held her heart in her throat, fearing Ye Qiu would be reduced to ashes under the onslaught.

Ye Qiu remained composed, but the strength demonstrated by Sun Ziyan caught his eye; the pressure emanating from him and this attack both revealed great power.

Sun Ziyan had, after all, already grasped the True Qi as he pleased, which enabled him to transform True Qi into true dragons, taking his attacks to a higher level.

However, this flame was a True Qi control that was even higher than the willful True Qi.

Energy conversion!

True Qi itself was an intangible form of energy derived from between heaven and earth. Through cultivation, it congealed within the human body and took root and sprouted in the Dantian.

The most basic level of martial artists would only use True Qi as a common attack method until they understood True Qi as they willed, and only then could they grasp a hint of the true essence of True Qi.

Ye Qiu had seen the mysterious benefactor produce fire from his fingertips, light kindling, and roast a wild boar. He had been amazed at the time, until the mysterious benefactor explained that True Qi was divided into several realms; then he truly understood.

There were primary True Qi, True Qi as one willed, and the nature of True Qi.

Sun Ziyan’s ability to turn True Qi into flame indicated that he had thoroughly understood the nature of True Qi, which is why he could command such a formidable presence.

There were countless forms of energy in the world. Martial artists merely collected and condensed these energies, then projected them from their bodies in various forms.

And the nature of True Qi was a relatively advanced form of presentation,

Ye Qiu’s mastery of True Qi was still at the stage of True Qi as he willed, not yet reaching the realm of the nature of True Qi. Although he had received guidance from the mysterious benefactor, he had not yet broken through. It was evident that achieving such supreme control of True Qi was no easy task.

Sun Ziyan had accomplished this feat, stirring a wave of emotion inside Ye Qiu, though this couldn’t be discerned from his expression.

In an instant, the flames surged forward, the scorching heat palpable even before it got close, as if one could already feel it.

Ye Qiu shifted his form silently, and in no time at all, a layer of True Qi shield wrapped around his body. Then, he suddenly leaped up with great force.

As Ye Qiu took to the sky, the two True Qi dragons swiftly altered the trajectory of the fire, shifting the direction of their attack and pursuing him.

Faced with the relentless onslaught of flames, Ye Qiu glanced at the two True Qi dragons and charged towards them in an instant.

In mid-air, Ye Qiu, like a true dragon, trod on the air, causing explosions of Qi all around him to borrow force, still maintaining his position aloft.

In the blink of an eye, he was face to face with the two True Qi dragons, and the flames headed straight for him. Ye Qiu reached out both hands in mid-air, plunging straight towards the fire.

Crack, crack, crack...

The fire danced, and with a punch, Ye Qiu shattered the firelight, which exploded in the air, like crushing the sun, and suddenly there was a sensation of darkness.

The martial artists on the ground stared blankly at the scene, finding it hard to believe that Ye Qiu was so ferocious, not fearing the high temperature of the flames and directly throwing his punch.

Many martial artists swallowed hard, realizing that had they been in his place, they wouldn’t have possessed such courage.

However... the following scene once again shattered everyone’s understanding of Ye Qiu.

Ye Qiu’s fist broke through the assault of the flames, and without stopping, his body followed the momentum and charged straight into the midst of the two True Qi energy dragons. His fists turned into palms, and with a fierce clap,

Bang bang...

The dragons that had been soaring through the sky had their heads explode with a bang, leaving behind the rest of their bodies, which, along with the dissipation of their heads, gradually faded away.

He had slain the dragons!

A gasp emerged from the crowd of martial artists, as everyone watching the sky noticed the figure that had killed the True Qi dragons with a mere two claps of his hands.

Even though they were dragons formed from True Qi, they were still dragons.

Ye Qiu’s move was absolutely heart-stopping.

Such a feat of dragon slaying was something few people could accomplish; at least most of those present were witnessing it with their own eyes for the first time.

Seeing the two True Qi dragons she had conjured being snapped out of existence with just two claps from Ye Qiu, Sun Ziyan couldn’t help but feel a slight rage, even as the spotlight was stolen by Ye Qiu’s dragon slaying.

Yet the fact that Ye Qiu could withstand the flames stirred a ripple of unease in Sun Ziyan.

How did he do it? Sun Ziyan didn’t know about Ye Qiu using True Qi to form a defensive shield, leaving him unharmed.

The two True Qi dragons had drained a significant amount of True Qi, all for naught. Sun Ziyan didn’t want to display such a move again; it looked magnificent and dazzling, but when facing a formidable opponent, one must seize the right moment to make use of it.

Sun Ziyan intended her initial strike to overwhelm the entire arena, yet Ye Qiu’s dragon slaying had snatched the thunder.

"Fight!"

With a brief exchange of glances, the two charged towards each other, and immediately, the sound of fists colliding echoed in quick succession.

Sun Ziyan did not continue with the dragon transformation, which relieved Ye Qiu immensely, as constantly defending with a True Qi barrier would also be a significant drain on him.

The close combat began.

The clash of fists and feet is always the most common form of attack for martial artists. However, the exchanges between Ye Qiu and Sun Ziyan lacked any grandeur and seemed like the two were merely sparring gently, not even a trace of True Qi being released.

Many were puzzled, as a duel between two great masters appeared to have lost the towering momentum that it had at the start.

Only those martial artists who had reached or witnessed high-level competitors understood this.

When masters duel, it’s not necessarily about overwhelming force. At a certain level, they contain their full strength, striking without leaking any power at all—this is the true essence of battle.

Because only in this way can one avoid wasting any energy, while also concentrating power more effectively.

The unremarkable exchanges between the two combatants, their fists meeting back and forth, were in fact fraught with deadly peril. Yet, this sensation could only be grasped by the participants. Only masters could empathize with it; others simply couldn’t comprehend the true nature of it.

Many among the onlookers didn’t understand and found the battle to have suddenly turned dull.

"Can someone tell me what’s going on? Why did it all just stop after that impressive move? Was it just a fleeting moment of power?"

"These two are clearly masters, so why does the intensity of their fight seem less than that of a martial artist like me who’s all force? Just as it was getting exciting, it fizzled out... Sigh..."

The uninformed crowd sighed and expressed their confusion.

Only a few kept their gaze fixated on the two combatants, not letting the outside chatter reach their ears.
