Chapter 265: 0264 brought trouble upon himself

Dragon Group, as a secret force within Huaxia, possessed immense resources and, due to its secretive nature, had an exceptionally hidden base.

Situated beneath an unnamed mountain peak was a massive underground secret base. Apart from a few technical staff, the rest were all members of the Dragon Group.

The members of the Dragon Group were treated very well, each having a separate room that could be called luxurious. They were all made of special alloy, and the rooms were filled with various kinds of food that could provide energy to the body.

With the North-South Martial Arts Conference imminent, Mu Zhige returned to the team with three others, back to the secret base, bringing with them the investigation on the beast-men.

Cheng Tianhu had been brooding these past few days, returning to his room upon arrival at the base. Lin Wurou and Li Xiaohu also went to rest, while Mu Zhige took the documents to the door of the highest leader of Dragon Group.

Mu Zhige knocked.

"Come in," a woman’s voice responded.

"Leader," Mu Zhige entered the room, respectfully said.

Inside the room, a woman sat, of middle age, with very white skin and very black hair. The only crow’s feet at the corners of her eyes slightly betrayed her age, but one could not guess her true age at first glance.

Who would have thought that a woman past her fifties could still carry herself with the poise of someone forty, each movement reflecting an aura of authority.

Who would have imagined that the highest leader of Huaxia’s Dragon Group would be a woman, a middle-aged woman who seemed as cold as ice.

"You’re back. How did things go?" the middle-aged woman asked indifferently.

Mu Zhige reported truthfully, "As you ordered, I have brought back all the investigations on the beast-men." Having said this, Mu Zhige handed over a stack of documents in front of the middle-aged woman’s desk.

She flipped through them, gaining a general understanding of the content, and said, "Fujikawa Ueno, quite renowned in the island nation. I did not expect a pure martial artist to meddle in this matter.

"He, under the guise of a cultural exchange ambassador, has been assassinating martial artists on our Huaxia soil. Although this doesn’t concern us in the Dragon Group too greatly, we ultimately cannot ignore it. I suppose the old fogies in the martial arts world should realize by now that their days of peace may be numbered. The restlessness of the island nation is enough to show the urgency of that power. "Leader, you’re right. With Fujikawa Ueno exposed and eight beast-men killed, they probably won’t dare come to Huaxia to cause trouble for a while," Mu Zhige said.

"You’ve done well," the middle-aged woman said, praising Mu Zhige, who remained very respectful to the Leader, not daring to be complacent even after being complimented.

"By the way, did you meet Ye Qiu?" suddenly asked the middle-aged woman.

"I did, Leader," Mu Zhige replied respectfully.

"What do you think of him?"

"His strength is yet unknown, but he should have some competent skills," Mu Zhige said.

The middle-aged woman slowly nodded, then added, "You can freely tell the other members of Dragon Group about Ye Qiu’s strength, you can even say that Ye Qiu deems it beneath him to associate with the members of Dragon Group."

Mu Zhige, with surprise wide-eyed, had no idea what the team leader meant.

The middle-aged woman smiled, "You don’t need to ask, just do as I say. If you want to win first place in the Martial Arts Convention, and even our own Dragon Group members are no match, then there’s nothing to expect from Ye Qiu. Moreover, I just want to take care of this Ye Qiu."

His eyes filled with a peculiar expression, Mu Zhige looked at the team leader, not knowing what Ye Qiu had done to provoke her. The fate of those members who caught the team leader’s attention was always very miserable.

He, Si Ma’ao, from the Southern Martial Arts community, had been with Dragon Group for years, and was considered quite proud. He hadn’t expected an unknown newcomer to be so full of himself.

Two others shared similar thoughts with Si Ma’ao.

One was named Mu Chujian, who excelled in swordsmanship. Within Dragon Group, no one could surpass him in the Sword Dao. Although he was more silent by nature and didn’t say much, his sword radiated a battle intent as if it was always ready to be drawn.

The other was a burly man from the Northern Martial Arts community. Yuan Zongguang, who had grown up in Mongolia, was a prodigy in horsemanship, archery, and boxing, achieving astonishing proficiency in each.

These three were arguably the most formidable members of Dragon Group, close in age, and they held their own even when compared with the young talents of the martial arts world.

Already quite proud, these three, upon hearing that there was someone even more arrogant, immediately radiated a strong intent to battle this individual named Ye Qiu.
