Chapter 186: The last arrow of a strong crossbow
"This person’s swordsmanship is truly extraordinary..."
Above the villa, two figures intertwined, dancing with the sword glow and moonlight, their fists casting shadows in the embrace of night.
The Wild Monkey commented with a sizzling voice, his slender body hunched over, hands in pockets, eyes gleaming like those of a wild beast, emitting an unusual glow.
"The Sword Dao is profound and vast. Through the ages, gentlemen have favored the sword, which symbolizes a certain ’qi,’ and is the symbol of the king’s way," Li Futu, staring at the two figures, said slowly, "This person’s sword carries sharpness, deceit, and malice. It’s not a sword of honesty and honor, which shows that this person has always preferred to hide himself, suggesting he is someone with deep scheming."
The Wild Monkey showed a look of surprise, "Master Li truly possesses remarkable abilities, to infer a person’s character just from their sword moves, I am impressed."
Unmoved, Li Futu said, "The sword is the Master of Zhengyang, ranked third among the eighteen types of weapons. It differs from the other seventeen types, for it is not the king of weapons, but it certainly carries the demeanor of a king."
"To practice swordsmanship, one must first cultivate the self. This person forces his opponents into deadly situations with every move, assuming the attitude of a fierce and ambitious figure. His swordplay is exquisite, yet it is difficult for it to endure. To advance further is no easy task."
"People always say that Master Li is skilled in judging character. Today I’ve seen it for myself," praised the Wild Monkey, then asked, "According to Master Li, though this person has high sword skills, he will struggle to make further progress. Does this mean his martial path ends here?"
Li Futu said, "Unless he finds a new path, breakthroughs in the Sword Dao are difficult."
"I wonder, who does Master Li think will stand till the end?" asked the Wild Monkey, curious about this matter.
Li Futu, watching Ye Qiu’s moves, said slowly, "This man fights barehanded and has stood against the man in black for so long. Although slightly at a disadvantage, I believe the final victor will definitely be him!"
This statement shocked the Wild Monkey. He had thought Ye Qiu no match for the man in black, whose assault was like a relentless river, unstoppable. In contrast, Ye Qiu was more defensive than offensive; how could he possibly break through the man in black’s assault?
"Do you think because he always defends and rarely attacks, his chances of defeat are very high?" Li Futu seemed to see through the Wild Monkey’s thoughts, pinpointing them directly.
"Exactly, in a fight, it’s essential to prioritize attack, whereas defense is passive. Once the attack reaches its peak, defense loses its purpose," the Wild Monkey shared his view, which was also his personal understanding of martial arts. Even in his own training, he focused on refining his offenses, to strike down his enemies.
"Since you believe so, how about we make a bet?" Li Futu narrowed his eyes and proposed.
Seeing Li Futu’s expression, the Wild Monkey was about to blurt out his consent to the bet when he immediately retracted it and said, "Master Li, please share your insights. As for betting, I, the Wild Monkey, have nothing to wager with you."
Li Futu couldn’t be bothered to explain, silently watching the battle unfold.
Seeing he wouldn’t get an answer, the Wild Monkey gave up and shifted his focus to the fight. He was curious to see how Ye Qiu would overcome the man in black and whether the final victory would actually belong to Ye Qiu, as Li Futu had claimed, instead of the man in black.
Ye Qiu, extremely focused, handled the man in black, narrowly escaping being slashed and losing flesh with his clever maneuvers.
With a casual punch, he hit the blade of the man in black’s sword. With a humming sound, the blade bent into an arc, and the man in black’s hands trembled, immediately retracting it.
The two disengaged.
The man in black found Ye Qiu too troublesome to handle. Despite wielding a sword in their scuffle, he was only slightly gaining the upper hand.
"This young man is much stronger than I thought. His strength seems to be increasing," the man in black felt a bit vexed. Since the beginning of their fight, the power he had put into it had already increased threefold, yet Ye Qiu was still fighting fiercely.
He was regaining his strength!
The man in black suddenly realized a problem and felt he had been too late in making a decisive move.
Just as the man in black, Fujikawa Ueno, had thought, Ye Qiu’s True Qi was rapidly recovering. It was unlike the beginning when he seemed to be stretched thin, having been hit several times, piercing through his clothes and skin.
As soon as the Springing Point acupuncture point opened, Ye Qiu felt a surge of Qi continuously generating within him, and his body’s functions seemed to be rapidly enhancing, especially in his fight against Fujikawa Ueno—the sensation became increasingly evident.
Although the level of True Qi hadn’t changed, his strength and vitality were on the rise.
Unbeknownst to him, Ye Qiu’s powers had increased significantly, and he would fully sense it once his True Qi completely recovered.
However, he was currently in a struggle with Fujikawa Ueno and couldn’t experience the various changes that came with the opening of a major acupoint.
Ye Qiu had already guessed that the man in black opposite him must be the culprit who had been murdering people in the martial arts world.
The fact that he sought him out now was probably for the purpose of killing him.
That the other party had come with the intent to kill him was both a good and bad thing for Ye Qiu, the good being that this person wouldn’t threaten those around him, and the bad being that the other party probably knew a lot about his condition, while he himself knew nothing about them.
However, the man’s swordsmanship was formidable, a grave threat indeed, moreover, since he was fighting unarmed, he was at a significant disadvantage.
Ye Qiu watched his opponent, while the man in black, Fujikawa Ueno, also revealed a murderous intent. He did not want to give Ye Qiu another chance to catch his breath, aiming for a one-strike kill.
Feeling the True Qi circulating in his Dantian, Ye Qiu stretched out his fingers and then clenched his fists tightly, making a snapping sound, his strength had recovered by a quarter.
"With the Springing Point opened, even the speed of recovering True Qi has increased, truly an endless marvel," Ye Qiu sincerely exclaimed. Once he’d connected all the acupoints throughout his body, he wondered what tremendous power he might possess.
Fujikawa Ueno didn’t want to delay even a breath longer. His figure attacked once more, and Ye Qiu, who had already roughly gauged the opponent’s offensive pattern, channeled all his strength into his feet. Then, with a forceful push from the soles, he shot out.
Whoosh!
Ye Qiu’s speed was extreme, stopping right in front of Fujikawa Ueno. Seeing Ye Qiu appear like a specter, Fujikawa Ueno probed with his sword left and right, emitting two flashes of cold light.
Ye Qiu tilted his head to dodge the sword lights, and immediately after, one hand transformed into the claw of an eagle, and the other slithered like a snake.
The eagle’s claw could hook the moon from the ninth heaven, and the snake’s binding could entwine treasures from ten grounds below.
Both hands struck together, left and right, instantly locking Fujikawa Ueno’s sword-bearing arm. Following that, Ye Qiu executed a body-check move, hitting with the heaviness of a mountain, nearly crushing Fujikawa Ueno’s internal organs, leaving him dizzy and disoriented.
Fujikawa Ueno realized something was amiss. The move Ye Qiu had just performed was as fast as lightning, leaving him severely injured without even seeing the move clearly. Not wishing to linger, he immediately leaped down from the villa and escaped into the darkness.
Watching the man in black flee, Ye Qiu suddenly felt utterly drained and couldn’t help but collapse.
A wry smile appeared on his face, not expecting that the move he conceived while watching the fight between the Azure Dragon and the python would consume so much True Qi, nearly depleting it in an instant.
Fujikawa Ueno didn’t know that if he had stayed, he would have discovered that Ye Qiu was actually at his last gasp. The True Qi, which had been hard-won, was swiftly drained, leaving him with almost no ability to resist.
