Chapter 134: 0132 Monster

Whooosh whooosh whooosh...

The waves struck the rocky cliffs, intertwining with the wind.

On the surface, restless waves rolled, one crashing into another.

A figure stood on a huge rock, facing the wind, gazing towards the horizon.

From a distance, Ye Zi stared at the figure, ended the call, and light flickered in her eyes. She no longer hid in her original spot and began slowly approaching the figure.

The figure on the rock remained motionless, allowing the seawater to soak his clothes. As Ye Zi kept approaching, the figure suddenly moved, spreading his arms and starting to practice his punches on the rock.

"Who in the world is this person? He’s so strange," Ye Zi murmured cautiously as she drew closer. The person in the distance gave her a dangerous sensation that made her heart pound, even though he hadn’t noticed her, and her heart remained suspended.

This was an instinctive reaction. From the time Ye Zi became an assassin, only twice had she felt such a strong threat of death—once during an assignment when she encountered a formidable opponent, and once from the King of Assassins, the Reaper. This was the third time she felt this danger, so she did not attack immediately.

As Ye Zi approached, she found the distant man’s movements strange and the punches interesting, but she knew in her heart that this man’s danger level could absolutely compare to the Reaper, the King of Assassins.

Just as Ye Zi gradually moved forward, suddenly, the man’s movements ceased, and immediately after, Ye Zi felt a pair of piercing eyes shooting towards her. These eyes, sharp as swords, contained such cutting force they seemed able to penetrate steel, slicing through anything solid.

She’s been spotted!

Ye Zi felt a chill down her spine. Standing frozen, she realized the profoundness of the man’s skills, for he had spotted her from a hundred meters away.

Without warning, the figure leapt down from the rock and walked towards Ye Zi.

As the figure closed in, Ye Zi thought to turn and run, but she suddenly found her body unresponsive. Was it due to fear?

Ye Zi questioned herself; she had encountered various formidable experts, but the pressure from this person was undoubtedly the greatest. Even as a top assassin, she seemed mere decoration before this man.

"Right here!"

A voice echoed both far and near, right by Ye Zi’s ear. But to Ye Zi, it was like thunder, striking directly at her soul, causing her viscera to churn and her blood to quicken involuntarily.

Suddenly, Ye Zi felt lighter, her body lifted in a swoop, tumbled in the air, and then she was thrown to the ground without even catching a clear glimpse of the figure, landing facedown.

"What have you been lurking around here for this long? What do you want to do?" the man said indifferently, looking down at Ye Zi.

After being harshly thrown, the fear in Ye Zi’s heart vanished entirely. She had no intention to explain and abruptly lunged forward, her hand moving swiftly to slide a short dagger from her sleeve and stabbing towards the man.

"Hmph!"

Ye Zi heard a cold snort. Before she could react in shock, she felt her body lighten again, unaware of when the man’s hand had grabbed her wrist. She slashed the dagger backward sharply, and was abruptly struck; her arm relaxed involuntarily, the dagger changed hands, and Ye Zi was thrown to the ground once more.

The entire process happened in the blink of an eye. Ye Zi believed her counterattack was fast, but unfortunately, it was still not enough to gain the upper hand against this person.

"Heh, heh, you’re no match for me; do you still want to try again?" the man gestured with his finger towards Ye Zi.

Ye Zi had never been so disheveled, and even the King of Assassins had not dealt with her this effortlessly. Stamping her foot hard, Ye Zi sprang up, and suddenly another dagger appeared in her hand. The blade, reflecting the setting sun, cast a dazzling yellow light. Ye Zi saw an opportunity and, while the light blinded the man’s eyes, she rapidly charged forward.

The blade glinted sharply, tracing a beautiful arc in the sunset.

Ye Zi believed her blade had touched her opponent, but the moment she saw his face, marked with a cold, mocking smile, she instantly knew she had missed!

Smack!

The dagger was once again seized by her opponent, and Ye Zi was thrown out by him yet again.

Ye Zi struggled to raise her head, her gaze moving from his feet to his face, finally seeing clearly what this person looked like.

A gaunt face with high cheekbones and deep-set eyes, his age indiscernible, yet he exuded an intense and soul-stealing aura.

"I don’t mind if you try again!" he said indifferently, his eyes showing a flicker of interest as he looked at Ye Zi.

Ye Zi had fought her way out from countless people to become an outstanding assassin. Although the opponent seemed invincible, she had not completely given up. Right after he made his extremely domineering statement, Ye Zi attacked him once more.

"Heh, eyes like a wolf, but your movements are too slow!" he critiqued as Ye Zi was thrown like a sandbag once more, crashing heavily to the ground.

Ye Zi got up again...crashed to the ground, and got up again...

Eventually, even Ye Zi lost count of how many times she had attacked, completely draining the last bit of strength from her body.

"It seems you really want to kill me, but unfortunately, your strength is too weak... Your murder techniques are too childish, just mere tricks in front of me. However, seeing your indomitable spirit, I do admire you!" he said, slightly impressed as he watched Ye Zi trying to get up again.

"Who exactly are you?" Ye Zi asked with difficulty.

"Ha ha, you’re tracking me but asking who I am..." the man laughed heartily. After he laughed twice, he suddenly looked to the left and spoke lightly, "Presumably, this person must be seeking me. Did he send you?"

He clapped his hands, brushing off a bit of dust, and stood waiting for someone approaching from afar.

"Ye Zi!"

When Ye Qiu saw Ye Zi lying motionless on the ground, he was shocked, and his eyes fell on the man opposite him.

"Are you looking for me?" the man asked Ye Qiu, slightly surprised.

Ye Qiu didn’t respond; instead, he quickly helped Ye Zi up and checked her for wounds. Fortunately, they were not fatal, and he breathed a sigh of relief; his biggest fear was that Ye Zi had been killed by the opponent.

You silly girl, haven’t I told you not to act recklessly? Why don’t you listen?

"Brother... hurry, you are no match for him!" Ye Zi said with difficulty as soon as she saw Ye Qiu.

"Don’t worry, I won’t be harmed. Wait for me." Ye Qiu propped Ye Zi against a rock before turning his gaze back to the man before him.

"It was you who killed Shen Tianlong, wasn’t it."

"Shen Tianlong? Who is he? I’ve killed too many to recall which one you’re talking about..." the man scratched his head, feigning forgetfulness, but his tone was chilling.

Ye Qiu was almost certain that this man was the same one from the surveillance footage that day; those unique eyes were undeniable.

"Have you come here seeking revenge?"

"It seems my hands will be stained with blood again. I hope you can provide me with a bit of amusement. Life is indeed lonely like the desolate snow..." the man mused to himself. Suddenly, his eyes locked onto Ye Qiu, and he chuckled lowly, "How would you like to die?"
