Chapter 257 - A littel Invasion II
Dave leaned casually against the stone pillar, still watching the chaos with an amused smirk on his face. The ground trembled under the raw power Emma and Trish were unleashing, and a few unlucky Dark Elves who tried to flee were simply caught in the crossfire — either burned to ash or electrocuted where they stood.
Footsteps approached, heavy and familiar. Dave turned his head slightly and saw Thor marching up beside him, Mjolnir spinning lazily in his hand.
Thor watched the battlefield for a few moments, his eyes widening as he took in the sight of the two women decimating the enemy forces without breaking a sweat. A hearty laugh escaped him.
"You have some great wives-to-be, Dave," Thor said with a booming laugh, clapping Dave hard on the back. "Fierce warriors! Asgard would be proud to have them."
Dave chuckled, barely moving from the impact of Thor's friendly thump. "Yeah, they're something else, huh?" he said, his tone full of pride as he continued watching the battlefield unfold like a fireworks show made of fire and lightning.
Thor grinned, nodding approvingly. "Remind me not to get on their bad side," he joked as another wave of Dark Elves was completely obliterated by a joint blast from Emma and Trish.
"Good advice," Dave replied with a smirk.
They stood side by side, arms crossed, simply enjoying the spectacle of the Dark Elves being utterly crushed. Around them, the few remaining Asgardian warriors who had rushed to defend the city were just... standing there, unsure if they should even bother stepping in at this point.
Thor let out another booming laugh. "At this rate, we won't even need an army. Just invite your women to every war we have."
Dave shrugged, a playful twinkle in his eyes. "Sounds efficient to me."
As Dave and Thor continued to watch the overwhelming beatdown, a sudden shift in the atmosphere caught their attention. The sky, already darkened, seemed to twist unnaturally. A thick, black mist rolled in from the edge of the battlefield, colder and heavier than anything before.
From the swirling darkness, a tall figure emerged — clad in blackened, ancient armor with glowing blue eyes that pierced through the gloom. He carried a wicked-looking spear pulsing with corrupt magic.
The Dark Elves that had survived scrambled toward him, rallying around their leader.
Thor's smile faded slightly. "Malekith..." he muttered under his breath, his hand tightening around Mjolnir's handle.
Dave's amused smirk didn't leave his face, but his eyes sharpened. "Finally," he said, straightening up from the pillar. "Took him long enough to show."
Malekith raised his spear high into the air, and the dark mist around him thickened. His voice, cold and full of hate, echoed across the battlefield.
"Return the Aether to me," he snarled, "and I may spare your pathetic realm."
Emma and Trish floated back toward Dave and Thor, both untouched, glowing with power. Emma gave Dave a sly look. "That guy's a little more serious than the rest."
Trish spun her pulse-sword casually. "Yeah, he might actually last a few minutes. Fun!"
Thor stepped forward, lightning already crackling around him. "It seems the real battle begins now."
Dave cracked his knuckles, grinning. "Good. I was starting to get bored."
He turned to Emma and Trish. "You two handled the warm-up. Let's finish this one together."
Emma and Trish grinned, excited. Thor grunted in agreement, slamming Mjolnir into his open palm, ready for battle.
Malekith sneered as he saw them gathering. "You think numbers will save you?" he spat.
Dave just chuckled darkly. "No. We're just making it fair for you."
With that, the four of them — Dave, Thor, Emma, and Trish — strode forward through the battlefield, the ground cracking under their feet as their combined power lit up the storm-darkened sky.
As the group approached, a silent understanding passed between them. Dave suddenly raised his hand slightly, signaling the others to hold back.
"Emma," he said, giving her a sideways glance with a small, confident smile. "You want to handle this one?"
Emma's eyes gleamed with fiery light, the Phoenix Force crackling around her like a living aura. She smiled wickedly."Gladly," she said, her voice like velvet wrapped around fire.
Thor blinked in surprise, looking between Dave and Emma. "You're letting just one of your mates face Malekith alone?" he asked, half-impressed and half-concerned.
Dave chuckled. "Trust me. It'll be overkill for him."
Emma floated higher into the air, her body radiating such overwhelming energy that the very ground below her scorched and cracked. She lifted one hand lazily toward Malekith, as if bored already.
Malekith sneered, mist swirling tighter around him. "You send a single mortal woman against me?!" he barked in disgust. "I will tear her apart!"
Dave leaned back, hands in his pockets, and called out casually, "Big mistake, buddy. She's anything but mortal."
At that moment, Emma unleashed her power.
A brilliant flare of fiery light exploded outward from her, momentarily blinding the battlefield. The Phoenix Force — ancient, wild, unstoppable — surged with her will. She rocketed toward Malekith like a shooting star, and in an instant, the entire battlefield shook.
Malekith tried to conjure shields of dark energy, erecting walls of black mist and dark force around him. But it was like trying to stop the sun with paper.
Emma's first blow shattered his defenses instantly, sending him flying backward through several stone walls with a thunderous crash.
The Dark Elves froze, staring in horror at the impossible sight.
Thor whistled low under his breath. "By Odin's beard... she's stronger than half our army combined."
Dave just grinned wider. "And she's holding back."
Up ahead, Malekith staggered to his feet, blood dripping from the corners of his mouth. His face twisted in rage and disbelief."No... NO!" he howled, dark energy bursting from him in desperation.
But Emma was already there.
With a graceful wave of her hand, she formed a fiery spear out of pure Phoenix Force and hurled it at him. The spear ripped through Malekith's defenses and impaled him to the shattered remains of a wall, pinning him there like an insect.
Malekith struggled weakly, trying to pull himself free, but Emma floated closer, her golden eyes glowing like twin stars. She raised her hand again — this time a massive bird-shaped aura of pure flame formed behind her, wings stretching across the sky.
Dave muttered under his breath, amused, "And that's game."
With a final burst of blinding light, the Phoenix rained down on Malekith, engulfing him completely.
When the light faded, there was nothing left but ashes and smoking stone.
The battlefield fell silent. Even the surviving Dark Elves dropped their weapons and fled in terror, scrambling over each other to escape.
Emma floated back down, her aura dimming slightly, and landed gracefully beside Dave and Thor. She casually brushed some nonexistent dust off her dress.
"All done," she said sweetly.
Thor just stared at her, wide-eyed, before turning to Dave. "Remind me never to get into an argument with her."
Dave laughed, wrapping an arm around Emma's waist. "Don't worry. You're not her type anyway."
