Chapter 1316: Chapter 1366: Arrest Them All
Ning Changzheng’s face darkened, and he said sternly, "Section Chief Chen, you wield considerable authority. In my eyes, there is only one principle: the rule of law. If something is illegal, I will intervene without hesitation. You people are abusing your status as public officials to openly disrupt the business operations of a legitimate company. This is already a violation of the law. And now, you’re speaking words unbecoming of your position, tarnishing the image that our frontline Public Security officers have worked tirelessly to uphold."
"What? Are you accusing me?" Chen Zhiyuan roared angrily.
Ning Changzheng’s expression became even harsher as he barked, "As police officers, the first and foremost principle is to serve the people. The power in our hands is granted by the people, not for us to use against them. Not to mention that you’re just a Section Chief of the Provincial Department. Even if the Department Director or a Central Government minister were here, I would still dare make this statement!"
"Well said!" Su Mengxin exclaimed loudly, clapping her hands first in applause. Xu Yingying and the others immediately followed suit, and soon, all the company employees in the hall and the police officers who had come with Ning Changzheng joined in.
The applause was genuine, coming from the heart. Ning Changzheng’s words carried tremendous gravitas and won people over. If all police officers were like Ning Changzheng, the entire law enforcement team would enjoy unparalleled support and fighting strength from the people.
"You... you... Are you going to make the arrests or not?" Chen Zhiyuan shouted furiously, his eyes wide with rage.
Ning Changzheng roared, "Arrest them!"
Chen Zhiyuan hesitated for a moment, then smugly declared, "I knew Director Ning wasn’t a fool."
But the police from Mile City and the company employees were stunned. How could Ning Changzheng, who had spoken with such conviction earlier, change his stance so quickly?
Ning Changzheng’s eyes glinted sharply as he bellowed, "Arrest those who dared to conduct unauthorized enforcement!"
The Mile City officers were taken aback momentarily, but then their faces lit up with joy. They immediately advanced on Chen Zhiyuan’s group.
"Director Ning... Is this really appropriate?" A police officer beside Ning Changzheng voiced his concern.
"Old Wang, in our line of work, don’t concern yourself with what’s ’appropriate.’ The key is whether it’s lawful and truly in service to the people."
The officer hesitantly said, "But they’re from the Provincial Department. If we let them go, this matter could end easily. Arresting them might embarrass the Provincial Department. I’m afraid it could have adverse repercussions for you."
Chen Zhiyuan shouted, "Ning Changzheng, you dare arrest me? Have you considered the consequences?"
Ning Changzheng glared at him, his words booming like thunder, "Arrest them!"
Hearing Ning Changzheng’s orders, the Mile City officers gained confidence and surged forward, easily subduing the Provincial Department personnel, cuffing everyone except Chen Zhiyuan. As the Section Chief, his status left the police hesitant to act against him.
Seeing his subordinates cuffed in an instant, Chen Zhiyuan furiously erupted, "Ning Changzheng, you bastard! Let them go immediately, or don’t blame me for retaliating!"
Ning Changzheng snorted coldly, walking toward Chen Zhiyuan. Chen Zhiyuan glared at him, yelling, "Did you hear me? Let them go! What are you doing? I’m warning you, Ning Changzheng, don’t take this too far!"
As Ning Changzheng snapped handcuffs onto Chen Zhiyuan’s wrists, the room fell silent. Even Chen Zhiyuan froze in shock, unable to believe he had been arrested. Suddenly, he flew into a rage, kicking at Ning Changzheng while cursing, "You scum, Ning Changzheng! I’ll kill you!"
Ning Changzheng sidestepped effortlessly, dodging Chen Zhiyuan’s kick, and commanded, "Take them all away."
Seeing that Ning Changzheng personally handcuffed Chen Zhiyuan, the other officers’ concerns evaporated. Two policemen moved to restrain Chen Zhiyuan, who went on kicking and cursing nonstop.
"Gag him," Ning Changzheng instructed.
One officer, particularly bold, smacked the back of Chen Zhiyuan’s head. Chen Zhiyuan groaned in pain, opened his mouth, and a dirty rag was stuffed in immediately.
"Mmph... mmph..." Chen Zhiyuan shook his head vigorously, but the rag was wedged tightly. He couldn’t dislodge it with his tongue and nearly fainted from the indignation. A Section Chief from the Provincial Public Security Bureau being treated this way by other officers—his humiliation was palpable.
At this moment, Ning Changzheng approached Su Mengxin and said with an impassive expression, "We will always protect enterprises conducting lawful operations."
Su Mengxin smiled faintly and said, "Thank you, Director Ning."
Ning Changzheng nodded and then turned to lead his team away, leaving behind a hall filled with applause.
After calming the employees, Su Mengxin and the others returned upstairs to Li Yifei’s office. Although Li Yifei wasn’t present, Su Mengxin was there today, and with Xu Yingying’s office still in disarray from the earlier scuffle, employees were cleaning it up.
After sitting down, Xu Yingying remarked, "Mengxin, Director Ning is quite bold, isn’t he? Won’t this cause him trouble?"
Su Mengxin smiled faintly and said, "There won’t be any problems. If I’m not mistaken, Director Ning likely belongs to the Ning Family."
Michelle quickly interjected, "If he’s from the Ning Family, then that makes him part of Xin’er’s family. Why hasn’t Xin’er ever mentioned him?"
Su Mengxin chuckled softly and said, "Director Ning likely isn’t a core member of the Ning Family, so Xin’er probably doesn’t know him. Arresting a Section Chief from the Provincial Department like that requires strong backing. And anyone from the Ning Family certainly has that."
He Fangqing laughed, "That explains it. We should properly thank Xin’er later."
Su Mengxin smiled and replied, "No need for thanks. We’re all family here, and whoever has the capability does a little more—all for the good of the household."
At this point, Su Yiyi commented, "I can’t believe how strong we’ve become. Handling three people at once felt so easy."
The mention of this excited the group. None of them had realized their physical abilities had become so formidable. Michelle, blushing slightly, said, "Exactly. I never imagined I’d ever get into a fight, let alone beat men at it. Honestly, I don’t even know how to describe this feeling."
Xu Yingying giggled and said, "The two quietest people at home, excited over fighting. If we told everyone back home, they wouldn’t believe it."
Michelle and Su Yiyi blushed further, while He Fangqing laughed, "It’s not just them—it’s thrilling for me too. I guess we all have a little spark of mischief within, but we suppress it. When the chance arises, though, it can come out."
Su Mengxin squinted thoughtfully and said, "If it’s this effective, we should let our husband work harder to help us improve even more. That way, we can protect ourselves and save him the trouble of worrying about us."
He Fangqing grinned, "I think it’s a great idea. Ever since we started dual cultivation, haven’t you noticed how energized he is? No matter how many people join in each night, he always seems ready for more."
Xu Yingying laughed, "Even if he can handle it, we don’t have a bed big enough."
The thought of such a ridiculous scenario, despite being accustomed to spending time with Li Yifei, still managed to fluster them. However, Su Mengxin shook her head and said, "I think moderation is important. Too much of anything can backfire. But I do agree with having more participants nightly. If we rotate every three days, everyone gets equal time with him, fostering better harmony in the family."
"Alright, let’s discuss it with everyone later," Xu Yingying concurred. While such matters didn’t require formal family meetings, the Li Family made a habit of keeping everyone informed as a way to maintain unity.
While Su Mengxin and the others laughed and chatted about their plans with Li Yifei, the Song Family and the Sun Family were reeling from the outcome of the incident. Their disbelief stemmed from the audacity of the Li Family to openly confront enforcement officers, coupled with Ning Changzheng’s bold support of them.
"Have Ning Changzheng removed immediately," Song Zude demanded of the Deputy Director.
The Deputy Director, wearing a distressed expression, replied, "Elder Song, this matter is problematic. Ning Changzheng is untouchable."
Song Zude fumed, "Untouchable? A mere Chief of Public Security in a city is untouchable? Isn’t he simply relying on his ties to the Li Family?"
"That’s not the issue. As soon as I received the news, I went to discuss it with the Director. But the Director was adamant—he said Ning Changzheng acted appropriately. In fact, he berated me and warned me not to meddle in this affair, advising me to focus on my responsibilities." Pausing, the Deputy Director hesitated before stammering, "Elder Song, the Li Family might be more formidable than we thought. Perhaps..."
"No way! The Li Family and we have deep-seated enmity. Regardless of their background, we must eradicate them completely. You hold tight for now; I’ll handle the situation myself."
Song Zude disconnected the call, his face clouded with concern. Initially, he believed the Li Family lacked political connections, but after this incident, it appeared that the Li Family’s influence might rival—or even surpass—his own.
