Chapter 957: Chapter 15 Epic Grave Digging
...A light similar to Annan’s?
Upon hearing this, Annan was momentarily startled.
"Are you sure it’s a type of light extremely similar to mine?"
"Yes."
Nigel asserted with conviction, "Because Your Majesty, the light on you is very distinctive. It’s a type of light I’ve never seen before... Other than the light deep in your soul and the light I saw before in the air over there, I’ve never seen this light in a third place."
That was to be expected.
Nigel was not a Transcendent related to the "light" domain, nor did he possess knowledge of the related rituals.
He likely didn’t understand that as The Seventh Daylight’s "Light of the Chariot," its nature is different from Mr. Radiance’s—namely, the natural light led by sunlight. He wouldn’t know how rare the Light of the Chariot truly was.
But up until now, apart from the radiant light bursting forth from Annan during his Angel state after using the Philosopher’s Stone,
Annan had only discovered pure "Light of the Chariot" in one place.
That was in the Elves’ relic, the Blackrock Curse Vault, where the yet unborn "Son of the Celestial Chariot," Endymion... the being that once forced Annan to become a male mother.
The "bottom of the volcano" where Nigel had entered sounded indeed like a place deep enough to construct a Curse Vault.
Not all locations are suitable for building a long-term Curse Vault, just as not every corner of the body is viable for intravenous dripping.
A Curse Vault is like a venipuncture needle. Naturally, it only makes sense to insert the needle where veins are visible.
At the overlap of two worlds, the world becomes fragile. That is exactly the world’s flaw, and also its wound... just like flesh not covered by skin, it is also the "vein" where blood collection can be performed safely.
These are the places in legends that are "especially easy to get lost in" and "where many strange tales occur." Just like two people whose skins are touching, they can feel each other’s body temperature through that contact.
The world can also influence the other side by using this overlapping point.
The starting point of Curse technology is the detection of a gentle enough gap that can be utilized.
Cracks around eight square meters can be utilized. If the size is less than a third of a square meter, it can even be slightly expanded.
In more civilized cities, finding such "abnormal places" is much simpler. These strange occurrences aren’t due to them doing something or because someone among them is special; it’s merely because they’re precisely on the "weak points of the world."
But when the Elves first developed Curse technology, they were still in the living deserts... using "strange tales" for positioning was extremely difficult.
Detection had to be manually performed to find the world’s wounds. This process is somewhat similar to oil prospecting, and Annan was not interested in delving into it.
Once the approximate location was found, the Curse Vault must be nailed into this flesh like a hollow nail to stably perform "blood collection." If you start building a Curse Vault just anywhere, it’s likely you won’t get through at all.
Conversely, once a Curse Vault is constructed in a location, its "worldly wound" will no longer exist.
A Curse Vault in continuous operation sucks blood like a leech clinging to the skin. Even if the Curse Vault is completely dismantled, the "world’s wound" will no longer easily manifest.
When the Elves abandoned their Curse Vaults, it wasn’t to further enlarge the wound but to stop the bleeding. It was to repay the debt of their ancestors.
However, not all "world’s wounds" can have a Curse Vault built on them.
The most typical example is the Eternal Gale above the Storm Tower.
That’s a tremendously violent wound, an enormous vertical crack over two kilometers tall.
If a Curse Vault is a mere scratch that bleeds slightly,
Then that "wound" above the Storm Tower is bleeding profusely—it even directly penetrates the entire world, the other end not being the "world’s blood vessels" but "another world."
Ignoring how to return, one could simply fly into the Void World from there with the winds from the storm.
Such a massive "gash" is impossible to consider building a Curse Vault on... with wind speeds of 200 kilometers per hour, simply moving the Storm Tower aside would immediately create a massive tornado, destroying towns below within a day.
If the Storm Tower doesn’t timely restrain the storm, within a month... this world would be destroyed by the endlessly expanding storm.
Because the culminating point of that crack isn’t the Blood of the World.
But rather a fragment of a world filled with hatred and rage.
A world where nothing exists but an infinite, ceaseless storm.
Since Nigel saw the worldly gash and returned alive,
It meant there wasn’t a Curse Vault at that location... nor was it connected to the Void World. Since it wasn’t a Curse Vault, the existence of a "Son of the Celestial Chariot" was impossible.
...Moreover, there likely shouldn’t be another Endymion in this world.
Because as a "seed," Endymion’s value was merely to prevent the collapse of the great barrier. Each generation’s seed was the unborn progeny of the Elf Emperor, and only one seed could exist at a time... when a new emperor ascended, the previous generation’s seed would be destroyed.
It wasn’t the Chariot, nor the Son of the Celestial Chariot.
It wasn’t the Curse Vault, nor the Void World.
Unless...
An idea struck Annan.
Those capable of emitting the "Light of the Chariot," besides the "Chariot" and "Son of the Chariot," there might be something else associated with the word "Chariot."...
The legendary "Thirteenth True God," a great deity who fell in ancient times.
—The Charioteer.
[She is a dead god, yet also an undying god. She is the deceased not yet departed, the Charioteer is her last title remaining in this world; all other titles, names, and everything she left as He were stitched into the inside of the world]
Endymion had told Annan this.
A goddess whose true name was already erased. Only the "Charioteer" could describe her existence.
Theoretically, everything about the Charioteer was already stitched inside the world... but that was not out of nothingness.
Because The Worm itself was spawned from the remnants of the Charioteer.
In other words...
Annan’s expression became subtly complicated.
—Did Earl Felix and Rafaelo Santi somehow unearth the Charioteer’s grave from who knows where?
...Fuck, that’s massive.
