Chapter 848: Chapter 386: Splitting Forces into Two Paths
Eldest Princess certainly wouldn’t know what Annan thought of her.
After the banquet, most of the attendees tactfully left.
And Annan and Maria had just left the palace through the back door.
Jiu’er and Lin Yiyi had been waiting near the back door for a while.
"Isn’t this your people?"
Maria asked curiously, "How did they get in?"
"It was me who brought them in."
Kafney explained from behind.
She quickly caught up and nodded to the Eldest Princess as she bid her farewell.
Then Kafney whispered, "Annan asked me to bring four people in... but among those four, Dragon Well Tea and Four Concealed Sets, due to their magical powers, would be detected by the barrier, so I could only bring these two in first..."
"A barrier that detects magical power?"
Annan slightly exclaimed, "When was this? I don’t remember seeing it the last time I was here."
"And both Annan and I are wizards."
Maria added.
"Just a few days ago. This is also related to the ’Dream Stealer’ incident..."
Kafney said softly, "It was proposed by Princess Elizabeth. Since ’Mr. Kai’ left the palace, we temporarily lack the power to counter high-end spells... especially during a crucial diplomatic event.
"By the commission of Princess Elizabeth, the Ritualist from the Silver Baron Church, with the ritual ’Line of Demarcation,’ outlined the palace. It is set that anyone with a magical value must be pre-registered through the ritual hall to enter; otherwise, the individual would rapidly lose magical power and trigger an alarm."
She glanced at the Hands of Winter coming their way: "All the people brought by His Majesty Annan are within the scope of registration... but they are not here."
"I see."
Annan suddenly realized.
It seems Princess Elizabeth isn’t foolish...
At least she knows not to make the same mistake twice.
However, another detail in Kafney’s words caught Annan’s attention.
"Mr. Kai left the palace?"
He was somewhat surprised, "Why?"
Isn’t Mr. Kai the royal magical advisor?
At this critical moment, just over a month from the election of a new king, why would he leave the palace?
And... Henry VIII is already dead.
Why would he go on a long journey? Who else could command him?
"I’m not very sure either..."
Kafney shook her head.
She seemed a bit perplexed, "Actually, rather than saying ’left the palace,’ it’s more accurate to say ’suddenly disappeared.’
"But Mr. Kai is a Gold-level wizard, there probably isn’t anyone who could silently capture him or harm him... so it can only be assumed that he left the palace on his own."
"...I actually know about this."
A young and cheerful voice arose from behind everyone.
Realizing that their conversation had been overheard, Kafney’s face immediately showed a touch of displeasure, Maria’s brows furrowed tightly, and as she turned her head, her eyes already sparkled with a light blue authority.
But she soon gave up the idea of attacking directly.
Because it was a young man in a black suit with dark gold embroidery, black hair, and red eyes, who looked no more than twenty-four or twenty-five, wearing a carefree, bright smile.
"Ah, ah, don’t be nervous everyone..."
Prince Philip said with a smile, "Why so serious? It’s just a little joke.
"Let’s get straight to the point... I know why Mr. Kai left, and I know where he went."
"You wouldn’t have come specifically to keep us in suspense, would you?"
Annan replied, neither lightly nor heavily.
"Of course."
Prince Philip answered.
Looking at Annan, his face showed a simple joy, "But this secret is very crucial, and I don’t want to tell little Kafney yet."
"What you tell me is the same as telling her."
Annan casually responded.
Philip shook his head repeatedly, "No, no, no, the situation is different... You can tell her, but I cannot."
He paused for a moment, then continued, "Why don’t you come with me, Your Majesty? I happen to have some very important matters to discuss with you."
Upon hearing this, Maria looked at Annan with some concern.
"Why don’t I go with you?"
She whispered, "Or we could bring Victor along as well."
"Let Victor come with me."
Annan quickly responded, "That would be perfect, sister, you go with Kafney."
Maria knew the place Annan was talking about.
Before coming to Noah, Annan had already told her about a repository coded "III-251-11" in Noah. Inside was a nightmare... a nightmare that held information about the "Heart of Justice."
And they had already agreed to visit that place.
... But previously, the idea was to let Annan, who had acquired a new Curse Binding, take a look.
Maria looked at Annan with some anxiety, "Is it okay if I go alone?"
"It should be fine."
Annan said with a light chuckle.
He extended his hand, faintly pointing first to his own eyes, then to Lin Yiyi and the others.
"— Because they are my eyes."
"... I see."
Maria nodded, feeling somewhat reassured.
Seeing that Annan had made up his mind, she didn’t say anything further.
Although this was an unexpected situation, based on past experiences, Annan’s approach was certainly better than hers. What she could do was to not hold him back—just to perfectly complete her own part in this.
If needed, Annan would definitely not be too proud to ask for help.
He was not the type who would suffer rather than ask for help due to pride.
Kafney did not say much either.
She still felt guilty about her performance in the nightmare—although it ended well, she did hesitate for a moment. It was that hesitation that almost cost her dearly.
"Then, we will be leaving first, Prince Philip."
Kafney said with a smile.
A rare smile appeared on her face—although it was a smile without warmth, merely a polite one.
She placed her right hand over her chest, nodded at Philip, and politely said to Annan, "Your Majesty, we will take our leave now.
"I will take good care of Princess Maria."
"Treat the Princess well, do not neglect the Lady of the Storm."
Prince Philip added with a smile.
Watching the four girls walking away, he then made an exaggerated bow to Annan and gestured with his hand, "Shall we, Your Majesty?"
Annan and Victor exchanged glances and then followed.
Along the way, Philip talked about various things—even though Annan did not respond, Philip spoke unabashedly as if he was performing a solo comedy show. The topics he spoke about weren’t substantial... but perhaps, that’s what made it noteworthy.
The back door of the banquet hall was not far from the off-hall where Philip was located, and they reached it in about fifteen minutes.
After arriving at Philip’s home, he immediately arranged tea for Annan and Victor.
Once they were seated, his expression became a bit more serious.
"It has been a while since we last met, Your Majesty Annan."
"Speak plainly, Prince Philip."
Annan did not drink the tea, just leaned back on the couch somewhat lazily and said, "I am indeed very curious about Mr. Kai... I’ve come all this way, so there’s no need to beat around the bush, right?
"Or is there something else you wanted to discuss?"
"That’s not it, I am indeed organizing my thoughts..."
Philip spoke openly and straightforwardly, "Because I am thinking about which level of information I should share with Your Majesty."
"... Oh?"
Hearing this, Annan perked up a bit.
He sat up slightly straighter.
