Chapter 351: Chapter 349: Annan, Go Wherever You Want (Two in One)_1
"...How did you do this?"
Daryl looked at Annan incredulously, "No matter what, it’s impossible to purify so many nightmares in such a short period of time!"
"Unless?"
"There are no ’unless.’ The judgment mechanism for the holy light imprint is very strict. Even if you purify nightmares entirely with the help of others, the imprint will only be attributed to the person who did the purification..."
The Bishop of Breads paused suddenly at this point.
It seemed he had come to a realization.
"...Is it your guards?"
"Although I’m not sure if you know... I carry within me the Book of Truth," Annan spoke slowly, "One of its abilities is to summon these humanoid entities from the Otherworld. In this world, they exist merely as projections, immortal and unaging—to them, this world is like a game... Hence, they call themselves ’players.’
"Their souls are summoned by the Book of Truth, and their shells are also created by its power. They are actually a part of my Book of Truth—naturally, the nightmares they purify would be counted towards me too."
Annan explained all that he could honestly and laid bare the facts.
After all, he was here to seek advice and suggestions.
It was natural to tell as much of the truth as possible to get reliable and practical advice.
In the case of Bishop Daryl, it was unlikely that he would do anything against Annan—after all, the Silver Baron currently stood on his side.
Moreover, Bishop Daryl’s identity... probably wasn’t simple.
Without delving into details, just the fact that Bishop Daryl knew Annan’s grandfather and knew Nicolas Flamel was enough to indicate that he had lived for at least a hundred years.
He even knew that it was the first Holy Seat Council meeting of the era; he was also able to know the whole process of the event, know the location of Nicholas’s grave, and was not subjected to memory cleansing.
So, he was very likely a participant of the Holy Seat Council.
And to become a saint, one not only needed to be a Transcendent but also required the strength of at least the Gold rank or above...
But clearly, Bishop Daryl was not a Transcendent.
So, there was only one answer left.
There was a very high probability that Bishop Daryl had been the Pope of the Silver Baron or at least a Cardinal able to touch the center of power.
That’s why he could call upon the divine intervention of the Silver Baron directly...
Even though Annan had a clear idea in his mind that Bishop Daryl’s identity was certainly not simple, he did not speak it outright—since Daryl did not tell Annan directly, Annan would not ask either.
This was the tacit understanding between the two.
"So it is, so it is..."
Daryl muttered somewhat absentmindedly, "To think that it could be done like this..."
Obviously, the fact that Annan could steadily increase his holy light imprints by being idled shocked Daryl deeply.
Naturally, it would.
The Orthodox Church was different from the cult of a False God... A False God could distribute holy light imprints at will, but the True God couldn’t. They had to consider the fairness of the rules even more.
The holy light imprints granted for "completing work for the church" were in fact bestowed by the bishops.
For once they grew to be bishops or higher, they didn’t need holy light imprints to strengthen themselves as much. After all, the clergymen of the Silver Baron were not quite like the clergy of other divine beings...
The divine duty of the Silver Baron was "trade." His clergymen using more silver coins to purchase stronger Divine Arts was obviously reasonable. This led to the clergymen of the ranks above bishop of the Silver Baron not needing holy light imprints to enhance their strength... after all, it was useless to get the Divine Arts without silver coins to buy them.
On the other hand, it was an act approved by the Silver Baron for them to use holy light imprints to directly "purchase" services from priests.
In the churches of other True Gods, obtaining holy light imprints was not that easy—you either helped a significant person or achieved some kind of merit.
The several hundred holy light imprints on Daryl were probably slowly earned by him bit by bit in his "copies."
For a clergyman, three or four hundred unused holy light imprints should roughly be equivalent to a bunch of platinum trophies...
In the face of Annan’s glaring display, Bishop Daryl, who always had a smile no matter the situation, lost his usual demeanor for the first time.
Annan’s face instead wore the bashful and shy smile that one would have when successfully sunbathing a seal.
Daryl sighed helplessly, "You have to tell me, what type of Divine Arts do you want, Your Highness Annan?"
"I am adept at abilities that control the area around me in medium to long distances, as well as powerful single-target control in medium to short distances. I lack more effective long-range precision strike capabilities, and strong ranged damage abilities that I can use even if there is a prolonged interval between the targets," Annan answered very clearly, "These two Divine Arts, I want to purchase the top-tier ones. I have about three hundred holy light imprints on me... for the rest, I want to buy blessings that are permanently effective."
"I also don’t know what I can buy, so I will need you to make me a list."
He had already thought about his purpose for this visit to Roth Fort before he came to inquire with Daryl.
The Resonating Object was a decent Divine Art, but its power was no longer quite enough at present.
A Resonating Object produced with a silver coin was roughly equivalent to the power of an ordinary bullet—and it wasn’t penetration damage, but expansive, concussive strikes.
Simply put, when the Resonating Object hit a person, it would not easily pierce through but would rather cause bruising and fractures.
